general problems of the 1996 Toyota Tacoma

Three problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1996 Toyota Tacoma. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/01/1996

When vehicle in a idle position or coming to a stop vehicle rpms will acccelerted up 400 to 500 rps, causing the vehicle to lerch forward and applied brake pressure.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 06/10/1996

While driving the vehicle lurches forward which may cause an accident. Also activating the a/c, the vehicle accelerates up to 20 miles. Dealer replaced electronic control module. Problems is still occurring. Please provide further information.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Vehicle has two safety concerns of a sticky accelerator pedal and engine rpms jumping from 600 to nearly 1100 when the air conditioning system is running, causing vehicle to jerk while at a stop.
