2010 Toyota Tacoma with 91k miles have frame corrosion and now has holes. I contacted Toyota motor sales USA, inc. And informed them why I never received a recalled and they said it was mailed may 2019 and expired in 2022-there’s nothing they can do and if I went to the dealership for my inspections they would of known of the recall instead of going to an independent dealer. I’ve attached current photos showing the extent of corrosion over the years. Unbelievable, the recall should still be open.
The frame on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma has developed severe perforation and rust-through. There are large holes in the frame, and the exhaust hanger has broken completely off the frame rail. The corrosion is spreading across multiple points, making the vehicle unsafe and at risk of structural failure while driving. I purchased the truck in may 2020 and brought it to a Toyota dealer for a paid multi-point inspection that included the undercarriage. At that time, Toyota’s zh6 frame corrosion program was still active. No frame concerns were reported, and the program was never disclosed to me. Toyota has since denied assistance, even though the condition now represents a clear safety hazard. This frame corrosion is not cosmetic. It is structural and has already caused parts of the vehicle to detach.
Frame is rusting. Badly.
Frame is rusting.
Recently had routine service done on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma. Mechanic noted a lot of corrosion of the frame, including where leaf springs and axles are connected. He said that he had difficulty putting the vehicle on the lift for service due to the amount of corrosion and that he could not assure me that the vehicle is safe to drive.
My vehicle, which has been inspected at my local Toyota dealership, has significant rust corrosion, with perforation through the frame in several areas. I was told by the service manager that Toyota had sent out letters to owners (not a recall) to bring their vehicles in for inspection for this problem and that they would repair or replace the frame. I had not received any correspondence about this issue and have been told that this program expired in September of 2021,which now leaves me with the financial liability of replacing or repairing, which I have been told would cost between 14-20 thousand. I have contacted "the Toyota brand engagement center" case#221121001445, and they confirm they cannot and will not do anything for me. Please let me know what possible recourse I have in resolving this issue. Thank you!! bruce beeman 122 ridgewood acres thomaston connecticut 06787 (860) 283-8916.
My mechanic found excessive premature rusting to my truck's under carriage/frame. He suggested that I contact Toyota to see what could be done about this condition. Having never received a notice of recall I searched for recall information and called Toyota's "brand engage3ment advocate". I found out that the recall for the frame expired 6 months ago. This is intolerable since the truck I own now was a replacement for a truck that had premature rusting of the frame. I thought surely that Toyota would have addressed this issue in my 2010 Tacoma and I was unaware that it would be a problem. Toyota brand engagement center filed a case number for me (not really helpful to me) which is 221017000168.
Rear leaf aprings look a bit loose and worn out.
Rear leaf spring is arched back looks like it going to break I just noticed it I took it in for service at big o tires and they pointed it out.
Broken rear spring leaf. Same issue as NHTSA recall id 14v604000 dated 29 Jan 2016. Recall issued for Tacoma pre-runner and 4x4. My vehicle is a 2010 Tacoma base model. Last couple of days the vehicle sounded different after going over a pothole. Took the vehicle to my mechanic and he reported a broken spring leaf.

In September 2016 I was informed of safety recall and put on wait list. Called riverside Toyota rome GA March 2017 and was told still waiting on parts with 250 people on wait list in front of me. Not Toyotas fault but fault of outsourced parts.

Regarding recall # 14v-604. Took vehicle in for inspection on Nov 8, 2016 at big island Toyota, located in kailua kona, hi. Dealership said truck failed inspection. Said replacement parts would arrive in six to eight months. Seems unreasonable amount of time to repair a defective vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14v604000 (suspension); however, the dealer refused to do the repair due to the vehicle having a lift kit. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer also informed the contact that the lift kit would need to be removed prior to the recall being remedied. The contact refused because he would be charged for the lift kit to be re-inistalled, even after the manufacturer was notified that the vehicle was purchased new with the lift kit. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
I was notified in early 2015 (not sure of the actual date) of a pending recall NHTSA# 14v604 or Toyota # e02 regarding a problem with rear suspension leaf spring assemblies. I received a second letter(in 2015) about the same issue noting that a solution will be in place in early 2016. I have not heard from Toyota regarding this issue in 2016 yet the issue recall is still active on the NHTSA data base. At this time, I have not had an incident with my vehicle but am disappointed that Toyota has been so deliberate in fixing the problem. That is my complaint.

Takata recall: called Toyota dealer 05/24/2016 I was told no parts were available at this time and that it would be in the week after someone from the service dept will call to schedule. On 06/07/2016 I left a follow up message. The service dept got back to me and said she didn't know what I was talking about because they have a scheduled apt for me to bring my vehicle, mind you I have not received a message. Finally after a month today we took our truck in this morning only to get called 30 minutes later that they made a mistake and have no parts in stock and will call me once they have it again. That right there is unacceptable. My husband and I had to adjust our work schedule losing hours to bring our truck in only to be called later. They couldn't tell us the day before when they called to confirm the appointment or when we checked in.

Took truck to Toyota dealership requesting rear leaf spring on passenger side to be replaced after I realized it squeaks all the time and received recall notice about spring. Was told by Toyota dealership that they couldn't do the repairs b/c it has a lift kit on the truck and in order for them to preform the job they would have to take my lift kit off at my expense. Leaf spring is still squeaking. I even asked if Toyota would pay for the leaf spring and let me have someone else install and was told no. Now I have a squeaky leaf spring that could fail at any time and it's my responsibility to pay to get it fixed even though there has been a recall on the product.
Steering is very loose on off road driving / or "washboard" type road- there is currently a Toyota TSB (technical service bulletin) #0119-10 out right now with a solution to the problem. Solution= replace intermediate shaft. After reading all the posts online, this needs to be a safety recall. My truck only has 85,000 miles on it with loose steering. And has been like this for some time!.

I received a recall for leaf springs (urgent safety recall)14v-604. Called cox Toyota in burlington nc and they said they would call back when the parts came in. I called back two weeks later and was told the parts are on back order and that they would call when the parts came in. Called back another two or three weeks and got the same answer. Note: we take our Toyota prius and truck for service at this dealership. Please help me I don't know how to get them to fix this recall? and do I have to go to them?.
I was notified of a recall on my Tacoma leaf springs about a year ago. Then 3 months later or so I was notified that "the fix" was ready and that I should call my dealer to set up an appointment. I did so in about April of 2016. I have heard nothing since, even though I've contacted them asking when this repair could be done. They "had no information. ".
Preliminary springs recall on Tacoma pickup trucks I have received two letters from Toyota over the last two and half years concerning a preliminary recall on the springs. Their claim is that they are still trying to figure out how to correct the problem. I do not believe that. Toyota has become experts at stonewalling and in the meantime, thousands of Tacoma owners are driving a vehicle that squeaks so loud that people are continually asking what is wrong with your truck. Anyone who has tried to sell or trade their Tacoma has had to absorb a significantly reduced price/value, for no one wants to wait another three years for Toyota to execute the recall. This lack of action is similar to what Toyota did concerning the headlight lens which cracked or burned due to the heat from the amber bulbs. It took over two years to get Toyota to admit that there was a problem and provide replacement headlight assemblies. Even our local dealer questions the motives of Toyota in not resolving the problem that they created. Thank you for putting pressure on Toyota to execute a recall the vehicles having problems with the springs and to correct them. Thank you for your service to the citizens of the USA.
Letter from congressman david rouzer on behalf of his constituent regarding Toyota issued recall on some of its 4x4 vehicles. 2010 Toyota Tacoma. The consumer stated Toyota put a hold on the recall, until they find a solution. The consumer stated it has been over a year. Recall # 14v604000.
September of 2014 - Toyota sent out a preliminary recall notice - NHTSA campaign number: 14v604000- and that a remedy would be coming. The springs on my Tacoma broke, brought it in, Toyota deemed the truck was not safe to drive, and gave me a rental. They do not know when it can be fixed. Toyota has been sitting on this for nearly a year. And they still do not have parts to fix it? I was the second truck that was brought in last Friday with the same problem.
