Rear differential recall- on may 9th I dropped my truck off at stevens creek Toyota to have the two error messages reviewed for cause. The advisor, robin let me know there was a recall on the rear differential from April and that they would inspect my vehicle for leaks. The first report was that there were no leaks. The following morning when I went to the dealership to retrieve my truck I was told the trucks rear diff was leaking terribly and was unsafe to drive. I was told the fix would be complete in one to two weeks and was given a corolla as a comparable loaner vehicle. After two weeks of false updates from various techs I emailed the service manager and requested an immediate update along with a truly comparable loaner "truck". I received an update of "per Toyota there is no fix and no time line as to when a fix will happen". I was given a Dodge ram rental from enterprise as an upgraded loaner vehicle. I have called the number provided on the web-site 800. 331. 4331 and they have confirmed that there is still no repair and they have no idea when one will be forthcoming. I am making payments and providing insurance on a brand new vehicle I have barely even driven and now resides on the dealer lot. The loaner vehicle is comparable in size but not when it comes to all the added options and safety features I paid for. I have kept a very detailed record of all conversations & emails. I just want to drive the truck I am paying for but I would be willing to discuss purchasing a different truck that has passed the recall inspection. I keep seeing that this will be handled in a timely manner but what does that even mean? it's been nearly 3 weeks without my truck due to Toyota's negligence.

Recall #17v-285 after finding the aforementioned recall on line I took my truck to sparks Toyota to have it checked the dealer informed me that the rear differential gasket was leaking and would have to be replaced they have had my truck for over sixty days and cannot tell me when it will be repaired other than mid June which has passed and then early July. I called Toyota USA and they could not give me any information other than the dealer would call me. The dealer never called and my truck is still there.

2016 Toyota Tacoma recalled for leaky rear differential. I bought it brand new 11 months ago and it has been in the shop a month and a half of that. I still have to make payments while my truck sits at the dealership. I called southeast Toyota and they lied to me telling me if I had financed through Toyota financial that I wouldn't have to make payments right now. I am still paying for the truck that's been sitting at the dealer for 6 weeks. Toyota says they have no idea when they will fix my truck. I also have taken it in for a noise coming from the passenger side dash that was never fixed. I took my truck in for the 15000 mile tire rotation and was informed it had a leaky rear differential and have never seen my truck that I am still paying for again,.

Vehicle is producing a howl during throttle feathering at 50-60mph. The sound is coming from the rear of the vehicle but Toyota has characterized as "normal operation". I have test driven other Tacoma vehicles of the same year but was not able to reproduce the sound.

All of the problems listed below have been reported to my local Toyota dealership, gullo Toyota, conroe, texas. 1) engine misfires (5 attempts at repair. Still misfires. ). 2) vehicle stalls due to transmission searching for the correct gear (developed after the last attempt to repair misfire in September 2016). 2) engine has developed a rattle after 20,000 + miles and sometimes sounds like a rod is knocking. Sounds like engine is not being lubricated properly. This may lead to early failure of the smog control system and excessive oil consumption (Toyota claims this is normal for this truck). 3) bump sound comes from beneath truck when stopping and may be loose or broken motor or transmission mount (Toyota stated that the truck is operating as designed). 4) grinding sound comes from rear end when rear wheels slip and automatic limited slip is selected (Toyota has stated that the truck is operating as designed). 5) engine revs unexpectedly when backing out of or driving into garage (Toyota has stated that the truck is operating as designed). 6) loud bang comes from beneath truck when coming to a quick stop. Sounds like the guts of the transmission shift forward (dealership has not arranged to provide a loaner truck so that this problem and all the persistent problems listed above can be repaired. Toyota insist that I bring my truck to the dealership and drive my truck around and demonstrate the existence of these problems to the Toyota's field service tech. Dealership is aware that this truck has been recalled for rear differential problems and engine misfire and stalling. I need the dealership to accept responsibility for this defective truck and take it into their service department and keep it until it is repaired. I need a loaner truck while the repairs are made. I have put much needed work on-hold for a year due to this truck. ).

The blower motor on my truck fits the issued recall. However its only elidgable for certain vins and mine is not covered. How can I get covered under this recall. The window is June 2016 to 2017. I purchased my truck in March of 2016. The blower motor has been loud since I bought the truck and died a month ago. I saw this recall release and do not know why my truck isn't covered. I believe this recall should be expanded.

The 2016 Tacoma will not allow the driver with usb flash drive plugged in with music. Control the browsing album or song list with steering wheel controls. As per the 2015 Tacoma did. This is in all aspects. Of operation parked, moving, etc. I see this as a safety issue. Having to take your eyes off the road to press the browse button on the head unit and then use scroll buttons to move through the list of albums and then scroll through a list of songs to select one. Then at that point I am able to use the up and down arrow on the left steering wheel control to just go through the particular album iam in. I think it is a program feature that was over looked in the head unit and could cause wreck or damage when not fully focused on the road.

2016 Toyota Tacoma exhibits a severe resonant vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal from unknown source. The buzzing vibration emanates through the steering wheel and gas pedal at a severity and pitch that causes discomfort, tingling in the hands, arms, and right leg¿to an extent I become distracted when driving owing to the discomfort and use unsafe driving methods to avoid the steering wheel or gas pedal. ¿when accelerating from 1,000 through 3,000 rpms, the steering wheel and gas pedal exhibit a resonant buzzing vibration. The vibration is powerful and worst in the 2,100-2,500 rpm range. Extreme cold weather temperatures (15 degrees or less) dampen it. ¿the vibration only occurs when the engine is under load. It does not happen when the engine is revved through these ranges in park or neutral. ¿when the vibration occurs in the 2,100-2,500 range, it happens at an intensity and frequency that causes clothes and shoes to vibrate. Moreover, one can feel the vibration in the skin and bones. ¿when traveling for long distances on the highway through hills or mountains, the engine often settles in the 2,000-2,500 range. The vibration is constantly present in the steering wheel and gas pedal. After long exposures to this vibration via long trips, hands and feet begin to experience tingling. I constantly try to steer with minimal to no contact with the steering wheel and using cruise control to avoid the discomfort. This affects driver¿s ability to feel and maintain proper control of acceleration and steering. I find myself constantly trying to get out of this range when on long-distance highway travel. I have been working with Toyota since October 2015 to address this issue to no avail. This includes three service department visits and myriad phone calls with Toyota corporate help line.
