Differential Unit problems of the 2019 Toyota Tacoma

1 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2024

The differential skid plate was manufactured in a way that one of the brackets make contact with the fuel tank of the truck. It rubs and compromises the integrity of the tank. Possibly leading to a puncture and leak. I brought it to the attention of the manufacturer, and they have stated that they received several complaints from customers and redesigned the skid plate to prevent this. However they refused to replace mine and others, they also have taken no steps to notify owners of this safety hazard.

2 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2019

Very loud whine from rear differential while driving at various speeds. Most notably between speeds of 50-60 mph. This issues has been documented with previous year models of the same vehicle. However, the problem has not been fixed by the manufacturer with subsequent model years.

3 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2019

2019 Toyota Tacoma trd pro rear differential has oil leak.

4 Differential Unit problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2019

Truck has very pronounced shuddering during braking between 40-10 mph. It also has shuddering during cruising between 25-45 mph. Rear differential howls while cruising at 40-50 mph and sometimes during deceleration.
