Tl- the contact owns a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph over a road hump when he heard a loud popping noise. After inspecting the vehicle, he noticed that the front fuel tank strap was severely rusted and fractured. The vehicle was able to be driven approximately 10 mph and was taken to the dealer who replaced the fuel tank strap. The manufacturer was contacted and reimbursed the contact for the part. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. Kmj.

I have been aware of problems with early model Toyota Tundra frame rust problems and have followed with interest Toyota's response [none]however, I feel obliged to inform you that on Friday 25th the gas tank straps failed while driving and the gas tank fell of the vehicle as luck would have it I was slowing down to make a turn so the consequences were limited. But, 30 seconds earlier at 55 mph this most likely would not have been a limited consequence situation. Updated ivoq 06/30/10.
Gas tank on 2000 Toyota Tundra access cab - limited developed a rust spot and was leaking gasoline. The tank had to be replaced.
Gas tank seeping gas at the point where top and bottom portion wielded together. Tank was replaced I have that tank in my possession if you need to examine it.
