The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that upon restarting, there was an abnormal noise and the check engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on seven occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air intake system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

2 Loud Engine Noise problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2012

Vehicle started to make loud noise at startup. Sounds like electric vacuum. Secondary air pump and associated valves defective. $2777. 00 cost to repair not covered by gold extended warranty. No help from dealership or Toyota. 2007-2011 Tundras have exact same problem and Toyota extended warranty to 150,00 miles. Won't agree to extend to 2006 or later models.

Vehicle startup started to make loud noise at startup. Sounds like electric vacuum. Secondary air valve . Bank 1 obdii code p1441.
