I have been involved in two rear end accidents that I pressed the brake down with no response and ended up in a minor accident going less than 10 miles per hour each time. Also my running lights stop working and have had 4 wheel drive get stuck in that position until I had to look at the book to free it but no longer use it.
2007 Toyota Tundra. While driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine, esc, and vsc warning indicators illuminated as I was entering the freeway then the vehicle started to lose power and would not accelerate more than 60mph, the truck went into a limp mode. I reset the ecm by disconnecting the battery but it came back. The approximate failure mileage was 71k. This issue is all over the internet and should be covered by emissions warranty. Called the dealer and it is not covered by federal emissions warranty after 10yrs. Not good!.
The frame and truck bed have severe rust issues. The truck bed is shacking now when driving. The frame was "sprayed" when I bought the car to the dealer. I brought the car to Toyota dealership on winchester road they have noticed a lot of rust on the frame and on the truck bed and advice me to rid of the car because they cannot do nothing about it even trade for another car. I had the truck inspected by my mechanic before I bought and the car seems to be ok. Late on another mechanic pointed out severe. Toyota dealerships inspect the truck and said that it was unsafe to drive. I have to figure out how mysefl how to get a new frame and a new truck bed because I do not know what to do or who to contact. My mechanic advice me to contact NHTSA.
While driving my 2007 Tundra with only 62k miles, the anti-lock brake system (abs) controller failed, causing all four wheels (brakes) on my 2007 Tundra to lock up in traffic almost causing an accident. Thankfully, I was on a country road with little traffic. The lockup occurred when I touched the brakes to slow down. Things would have been dramatically different if I had been on a freeway traveling at a higher speed. Dealer replacement cost estimate: $3700. Only cause given for the failure was "age".
The front of my vehicle gives a vibration and shakes real bad just happens when I'm driving my truck.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while replacing the brakes on the vehicle he noticed that the rear discs brakes were cracked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing. The technician stated the rear discs brake needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in any recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 64,000.
Abs, trac and 4hi warning lights all on while driving. Vehicle abs and trac control all ceased to function. Was driving in slippery road conditions. Almost lost control of vehicle. After stopping vehicle, 4hi would not engage. This is 4th or 5th time this has occurred over the past 2 years. Mostly occurs during cold weather but not always. Have taken truck to dealer after these occurrences and 2 of the times the dealer has been able to replicate the situation. When truck is in state of flashing lights, the truck always returns to normal when you turn off vehicle, wait and then restart it. Dealer has replaced parts now 4 times and still having the same problem.
On Saturday, March 13, 2010 around 4:30 to 5:00pm, my wife [xxx] exited NW 5th court from i95 to NW [xxx] miami, florida. As she was approaching the stop sign on [xxx] , she commenced to press the brakes. To her demise, after pushing the brake pedal to stop, the vehicle, a 2007 Toyota Tundra crew cab did not stop, instead, automatically increased speed to over 20 mph. She was forced to make a left turn on 71st street to avoid an accident or from crashing until a 1990 to 1994 green Ford explorer going at speeds well over 50 mph on NW 5th court coming from the east to west, rammed/crashed into the front passenger side of the Toyota Tundra as my wife was making the left trying to evade traffic and make the Tundra stop. His Ford explorer completely totaled the Tundra. I then arrived at the scene to find my wife with serious injuries and took her to the er. I was so glad to see she was alive and was able to carefully transport her to the hospital. If someone would have crashed into the driver side or a front end collision occurred, my wife would definitely have not survived. I feel, god was on her side that day and gave her a second chance at life. The man in the green Ford explorer could have slowed down and stopped, but did not. Maybe, if he didnt crash into the Tundra the way he did, my wife would not have survived. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
On July 12, 2009 I attempted to stop for a red light in my 2007 Toyota Tundra. No matter how hard I put on brakes, my vehicle continued to accelerate. The traffice report and insurance company documented my experience (of being unable to stop my truck). My truck was totaled.
Was on my way to a job-site on the freeway between 9am-10am appox. Going 65 miles an hour in the fast lane. There was a concrete wall on my left and a SUV on the right. The SUV started coming into my lane I put my brakes on suddenly to have the impact be at a slower speed but as I pushed down on them they fell to the floor so I was taken out at 65 miles an hour. The man was a rn nurse who pulled a graveyard shift and was dosing off. He admitted it was his fault and the cop said no report would be made because the law is no ambulances no report. I demanded a report and he said that is California's new law. Told Toyota about the brakes falling to the floor. There answer is " that it was normal". They inspected the engine for damage. They never inspected the brakes. . I am now going through Toyota corporation demanding brake inspection! truck went to the body shop to be repaired. . . .
Was turning left at at an intersection had a green arrow when someone went through a red light . When I started to brake my brake fell to the floor with no brakes at all was in a head on collision. After the police came and talked with both of us, the other party admitted guilt so since there were no ambulances and the other party stated guilt (no police report was made). I brought the car into Toyota and asked about the brake falling to the floor the next day . Their answer was" it was normal!" they checked the engine for damage . Then it went to mikes autobody for body damage. They never inspected the brakes, as they felt it was not an issue.
The parking brake does not hold the truck. Right from the day I drove it off the dealer lot it was weak. On steep hills it was questionable when pointing up the hill and would not hold pointing down. Had dealer look at it and dealer said it was fine. Since then (multiple times) it has gotten to the point that it is completely ineffectual. After adjustment it will hold on a slight hill but not a steep hill and never when in gear. At 32000 miles would not hold at all even after adjustment. So new parking brake shoes etc and it won't hold. Mechanic adjusted the brakes the most possible (so it won't drag and overheat) and does not hold. Note that pedal has been adjusted so that the parking brake pedal does not hit the floor. Only goes about 1/2 way down which is correct. I see this problem reported all over the internet but only one complaint in the NHTSA data base?.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that his vehicle began to idle excessively and when it was in gear it lunged forward and backwards whenever the brakes were engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that there were no failures. The Toyota manufacturer was called and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer so they could check the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the failure was not related to the accelerator pedal instead if was the brake pedal. The contact also stated that the failure began to occur more frequently. The failure mileage was 51,194.

2007 Toyota Tundra. Consumer states cruise control does engage and then will not disengage brakes. The consumer stated the brakes would not hold at stop signs and the vehicle would move forward. The vehicle had electrical shorts in the wiring such as; the headlights, clock, cigarette lighter, alarm and door locks. The seat belts would not always latch. The windshield wipers would not activate, there was a severe shake coming from the front of the vehicle as well as when the brakes were applied. There was a noise coming from the 4-wheel drive, the steering would act erratic and the accelerator pedal became stuck which caused the consumer to have an accident while backing out of his driveway. .
