Re 2008 Tundra, the brake pedal goes almost all the way to the floor and feels "squishy" . Wilde Toyota in westallis, wisconsin inspected my vehicle and purportedly installed all new brake fluid and said they did a scanning tool computerized bleed of the whole brake system including the abs pump system bleed. They cahrged me aprox $113. 00 for that service and the issue is unresolved. . . The brake pedal still easily goes to the floor when the vehicle is running. Wilde Toyota states that this is a normal condition for this 2008 Tundra as they say that they have other 2008 Tundra's that do the same. They state their is no fixing of the issue and that they allege my brake pedal travel is within specifications guidelines set by the nhts. . I've searched the internet and have found other Toyota owners whom has the similar issue with their brakes. When the truck is not running, the brake pedal is hard and doesn't go to the floor and that it what wilde Toyota says is within specifications. But that information or specification isn't relevant when it come to safety, as what is important, is how the brakes work and operate and feel when driving the vehicle. Please look into this matter and consider modifying your specifications and requirments etc of this issue to have the specifications include the distance the brake pedal can travel when driving the vehicle. Thank you in advance for this service you offer. I have a video of me using my weaker left hand to depress the brake pedal when the truck is running,, but it appears mpg4 videos are not allowed to be uploaded with this complaint, therefore I took two screen shots of the video which I am send. One picture shows the top of the brake pedal is resting at approx 4" off the floor, and the second picture shows the top of the brake pedal is 1/2" off the floor when depressed by my left hand and the engine running.
Also my 08 Tundra just like my 03 Toyota sequoia has the paint coming off the hood and very top of truck including chipping and pain coming off and clear coat, has to be bad paint there using.
Tl - the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tundra. I have a remote start system on my truck, I remote start my truck. The truck was parked on a level surface, nose pointing in towards house. The driveway drops off into a slope, but the truck was on the flat surface area. We go outside to get in it, and it's gone. It's not in the driveway and it's no where to be seen. I look over towards the creek, nope not there. Look out front, there's my truck and it is backed up on half in the street half in then the front yard. It's sitting where our mailbox should be. It is running and side marker lights are lit. I go look, open the drivers door to see if anybody is in it, nope, not a soul. It's in park, the 4 wd lo alarm is beeping, the 4lo led is lit on the dash, however, the switch/knob is still on the 2wd mode position. I press the brake pedal and the motor cuts off. So the remote start safety features were working properly. I have photos and a video (day after) showing where the truck landed and the path it traveled. I do not have any documents yet as this occurred last night. Dealership has the truck and will be evaluating the rear end and drive shaft, but insurance will not pay for inspection of the transmission. Cause of accident is unknown, but speculate something in the transmission failed while parked.
Toyota dealership inspection reported on 10/05/16 that actuator assembly failed. Mileage 122,482. Disabiling, abs brake, speedometer, odometer, cruise control, and displaying engine check lights for abs. This occurred one day after replacing water pump, water hoses, serpentine belt, and fluids associated with service. Cost estimate $2642. 78. Started engine and engine indicator lights showed engine check and abs malfunction started moving and speedometer cruise control inop along with odometer.
Started vehicle. Would not shift out of park. Released lock manually and drove to dealer (6 miles). They replaced fuseable link and found abs controller not working. I was told to drive home and they would call 4 days later on availability of used controller ($300 vs $1953). Brakes ok but no abs. Had same thing happen August 31, 2014. Had the Tundra hauled to dealership. Tundra was at the dealership for a month waiting for replacement fuseable link. Backordered - out of stock all the way to japan. Toyota had to manufacture more. More than expected demand? both times warning lights for brake, check engine, abs, air bag were on. Turn signals and speedometer not working. Dealership told me they had no idea of the cause. Told them low voltage caused this to happen to another vehicle I have. Makes me wonder if there are being truthful with me and if other safety systems may be compromised.
2008 Toyota Tundra 5. 7l double cab w/74,500 miles 4hi, 4lo, abs, vsc lights come on and flash at random intervals. The first time this happened, the cruise was set at 65 when all four lights started flashing. All other indications are normal. The truck will not engage 4hi, 4lo or vsc until it is turned off and restarted. The same day after approximately 10 miles of driving all four lights started flashing again, this time the cruise was not engaged. Sometimes one or two days pass before it happens again. No error codes are indicated on the computer.
The 2008 Toyota Tundra sr5 violently shakes when braking at 40 plus miles an hour causing instability when driving and a major distraction. TSB 0131-12 for this issue was released in August 2012. However, Toyota dealerships and Toyota USA headquarters will not fix the defect unless the vehicle is under warranty. Since, my vehicle is a 2008, the warranty expired in 2011 but faulty brake problem still exist.

While pressing on my brakes to stop my vehicle while driving at any speed, my brakes just would released fast enough to accelerate. The pedal just stays down & releases back up slowly. This has been going on for sometime now & it happens very often. I've brought it into the dealership & they went on a test drive with me. They were not able to duplicate the problem after 3 minutes after driving. So they have told me that they couldn't do anything to it & sent me home. I just understand the point of having warranty on my vehicle for when the Toyota dealership refuses to check out the problem to see what may be causing it.
Tl- the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the paint on the front end of the vehicle was chipping. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000. Pmb.
Purchases 2008 Toyota Tundra sr5 4x4 5. 7 v8 4/30. On 5/1 began hearing loud bang as car changed gears from 2nd to 3rd. The bang noise was often so loud it sounded like I have ran over something metal in the road. Happened most times I entered car and it changed from 2nd to 3rd. Took to dealer to address and they were unable to duplicate. Actually, the service advisor was able to duplicate, but that was not sufficient for the dealer to address the problem as the advisor is not qualified access an issue. Yet, each time I drove the car it happened. Finally after several days I was able to duplicate the problem with the service manager in the car. The bang was loud, and the manager did not know what it was. After several more days they were unable to locate a problem. Many diagnostic tests were performed on the truck yet there were no "codes" showing. I was not satisfied with that answer and went to the dealership owner. After a few days we were able to duplicate the problem with him in the car. Then we had the service director in car and duplicate the issue. I had no less than 4 employees of the dealer duplicate the issue. Finally, after 25 days in the shop, it was determined to be the abs system. Apparently when the Tundras start up they will do a abs self test somewhere between 10-20 mph. Mine was apparently overtesting. A part was replaced in my car, around a $3000 part, and away I went. It seems to be less of a bang noise, but it is still there. To show that it was "normal," the service director and I took ride in a new Tundra off of the lot. It made the same noise. I would have never bought a truck that I knew made a noise like that, never. But it appears they all do. Why di it take the dealer 25 days to figure this out? do the 2008 Tundras have an abs problem?.
