Upon starting the vehicle on 8/6/2025 I received multiple warnings: advanced ultrasonic detecting and ranging system malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, parking brake system malfunction, check engine ecm malfunction, vehicle stability control system malfunction secondary collison brake system malfunction, it now take almost a mile on level ground to reach 45 mph. This occurred without warning. The vehicle was ok the day before when I parked it.
The vehicle inconsistently delays when accelerating from a stopped position. This is more frequently noticed shortly after starting the vehicle. This was first noticed around 10k miles, and my vehicle is currently at 25,235 miles. This has happened approximately 4-5 times. While at a stop sign, judging traffic to enter into the intersection I have pushed the gas with no response for 2-3 seconds then a sudden burst of power. Having worked as a state leo/trooper for over 25 years I find this very concerning. Any delay in acceleration for power could result in a collision.

Speedometer and associated systems and controls are inaccurate by margin of 18% (9mph @ 55 mph) speedometer reports speed of 55 mph when truck is traveling at gps tracked speed of 64 mph. Without an accurate speed reading, it's easy to accidentally speed, especially in areas where the speed limit frequently changes. Speeding increases your stopping distance and reduces the time you have to react to unexpected events, significantly raising the risk of an accident inaccurate distance tracking your speedometer is often linked to your odometer, which tracks the distance your vehicle has traveled. A faulty speedometer can lead to inaccurate mileage readings, which might affect your vehicle's maintenance schedule. If your odometer isn't tracking miles correctly, you might miss crucial maintenance milestones like oil changes, tire rotations, or other essential services. Fuel efficiency issues a malfunctioning speedometer can also impact your ability to monitor and maintain fuel efficiency. Without accurate speed data, you may find it difficult to optimize your driving habits for better fuel economy. This can lead to increased fuel consumption and higher operating costs over time. Legal and insurance complications in the event of an accident, a faulty speedometer can create legal and insurance challenges. If you can't accurately prove your speed at the time of an incident, it could complicate the process of determining fault. This is particularly problematic in accidents where speed is a critical factor. This problem was reported to anderson Toyota dealership and Toyota corporate customer care.
The vehicle has acceleration hesitation. Sometimes when trying to go from a complete stop the vehicle is almost dead and doesn’t move then it feels as if the “clutch was popped “ in a manual but it is an automatic.

The truck has a very pronounced hesitation to accelerate after slowing down or coming to a stop. Example: slow down, come to a stop at a stop sign and then accelerating to start moving. This situation happens daily and almost on every occasion after slowing or stopping. It has gotten worse over time and this issue has put me and my family in very dangerous and scary situations as the truck does not accelerate promptly and oncoming traffic is getting closer. It really has made me concerned to drive my truck and feel unsafe doing so, especially with my family.
Every so often there is a hesitation when I’m trying to accelerate.
The vehicle has a hesitation when accelerating or when I turn a corner and then try to accelerate it lags. Had a few incidents where I almost got rear ended due to the issue.
Lack of throttle response. Takes 5 seconds for the throttle to respond to legal input making it dangerous when accelerating.

The major throttle lag. When leaving from a stop it takes a few seconds of pressing the gas before the truck even begins to accelerate. I have had multiple issues with throttle lag when dealing with oncoming traffic. No lights have indicated any issues and all the dealerships can tell me is it’s a common issue.
Unknown what component failed. Safety was at risk because the delay in the throttle response can result in get in an accident. I can't reproduce the problem. It happens at random. The vehicle has never been inspected by anyone about this issue. No warning whatsoever. It doesn't happen ofen. Some times it's worse than others.
Vehicle was accelerating down hill when engine stopped light came on stop in a safe place. I could not accelerate the gas or control the steering vehicle glided halfway to the side of the road before stopping. Engine stopped completely when exiting the vehicle smoke was coming out of the front hood. I could not shift the vehicles gears the system was completely locked up. Steering power low light came on. Engine stopped light came on. Tried to contact roadside assistance no one came for over 3 hours. Neighbors called a police officer and they had to tow it due to it being in an unsafe location (blocking traffic on a two lane road) without street lights. Vehicle was towed to marietta Toyota dealership.
A low speeds there is a delay in throttle response. If you come to a stop then step on the accelerator, the vehicle has no response for a short period of time where then it may buck or propel itself to catch up with the missed throttle. I recently picked this vehicle up from the dealer and was told there is no remedy for the issue at this time.
2025 Toyota Tundra with 2200 miles. Truck has developed an intermittent lag/hesitation when starting from a stop. At random times, when pulling out into fast moving traffic, hit the pedal to proceed and enter the roadway and it will take a second or two before there is any response from the engine. Oncoming traffic traveling at 50mph are now a second or two closer and need to brake hard to avoid collision. There seems to be a fault between the throttle pedal and the engine. No warning lamps. Difficult to reproduce as it only happens on occasion. Vehicle has not been inspected by a dealership. The issue has been reported to Toyota via online support, message # [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Lags when accelerating from a full stop. At least 1-2 seconds. Extremely dangerous. I’ve got 600 miles on a brand new truck and it’s happened twice in the last 24 hours. I was nearly t-boned.
Truck will have a very bad hesitation when coming to a stop and trying to accelerate again before a complete stop. Many times this has almost got me into an accident when trying to pull out into traffic. You will push the gas and there in a 2-3 second delay before the truck will even move. This often makes it a very close call if you’re not expecting it.
There is significant throttle lag where the throttle has a delay in engagement after a rolling stop. Turning into traffic flat out is dangerous when the throttle has a delay, if you push harder then it gives you too much throttle after the delay and will chirp the tires. I am not the only one. 100s if not thousands of people are complaining about this same issue.
Truck will hesitate to respond to throttle pedal input when attempting to accelerate from a stop. This has occurred numerous times over the 3 years I’ve owned it and appears to happen randomly. This 1-2 second delay puts driver safety and other drivers at risk due to inability to quickly enter or cross lanes of traffic.
Stopped at a stop sign, slightly uphill, turning from a residential street onto a busier road. When I pressed the accelerator, the pickup moved a bit and then hesitated. After pressing the accelerator further, the pickup accelerated suddenly and quickly. This has happened intermittently, multiple times. This is not the case of the auto start-stop system not starting quickly enough. The first risk is not being able to smoothly accelerate into traffic and getting hit from behind because of the hesitation. When the vehicle does accelerate, it jerks forward suddenly and quickly, often losing grip from the rear tires. This causes a risk of losing control or veering into the oncoming lane. The problem has been reported and the mechanics worked with the field engineers to diagnose the issue. The field engineers reported that this is a known problem there were no warning lights or other indicators that any component is malfunctioning. The problem first appeared with under 2,000 miles on the odometer and has repeated intermittently. I have not yet been able to determine a series of events that trigger the issue. It did happen a few times when stopped slightly uphill, but that isn't the only time. It is not clear whether it is the accelerator, throttle, engine, transmission, computer, or data transmission causing the problem.
The vehicle's accelerator consistently fails to respond when entering traffic from a stop or a rolling stop. Toyota attempted to remedy the problem with a TSB, but the problem returned within a week.
Occasionally when accelerator is pressed at a stop sign or light there is hesitation before the engine rpms increase. Also happens frequently going up my steep driveway at under 5mph, at half to 3/4 up my 100 yard driveway it will just almost stall out to an idle for a few seconds then will continue on as nothing happened.
Occasionally (more frequently when cold) the vehicle does not accelerate from a stop or rolling stop. You depress the accelerator pedal and nothing happens, the vehicle does not accelerate. After a few seconds the vehicle will sometimes catch and rapidly accelerate and other times you have to release the pedal and depress the pedal again.
Sometimes my truck hesitates from leaving a complete stop. I will press on the accelerator and there is throttle lag response, which causes me to pull out slower than expected. There was one time where I pulled out and lost throttle power in traffic. I have taken it to the dealer and reported this issue. They flashed the ecu and said that was the only fix they had, but it didn’t do much difference I still experienced the throttle lag from a dead stop.
The vehicle has a delay in the throttle in some situations immediately following a deceleration. For example, when braking onto a yielding on ramp to check for traffic while coming to a near stop then pressing the throttle there is an obvious lag. That second or so of lag often results in the tires spinning due to a spike in throttle. In more than one instance I've experienced it from a dead stop but this is not as common as a slow deceleration to a roll.
The safety issue I have is that my truck will display hesitation in moving forward or accelerating. I have been in a few intersections trying to turn left and when pressing on the gas pedal there is a delay in responding to the gas pedal being pushed. I’ve discussed this with the dealer and was informed that this is normal behavior. The dead pedal has me very concerned for my safety and the safety of others while driving my truck.
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal from a standing stop at a traffic signal, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was hesitating before responding as needed and gradually moved forward. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. Additionally, the contact stated that there was a misfire, and the vehicle was running roughly while idling after starting the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle had surged forward at high speed immediately after the vehicle hesitated and had failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the surging of the vehicle failure had only occurred once. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated during the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle because there were no warning lights or dtc saved in the computer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000.
My son was driving our 2023 Toyota Tundra (non-hybrid) at approximately 25-30 miles an hour when the engine shut down. He had difficulty steering but was able to safely brake to a stop in the middle of the road. Cars were forced to pass him on the shoulder. He was unable to restart the engine for what he estimates was approximately one minute. He was finally able to restart the engine and drive home. The next day I drove it to the Toyota dealer. The engine stalled on me one block from the dealer on a busy intersection. I was able to get it restarted, out of traffic and into the dealership where it sits today. There were no apparent symptoms with the vehicle prior to it stalling on my son. I received an engine failure warning message when the vehicle stalled on me. The dealership looked at the engine and stated that there is lose debris in the engine. The dealership has stated that they are unable to give me a diagnoses letter or a repair order at this time. Once they repair is made, they can give me something in writing. This issue appears to be similar safety recall 24ta07. However, Toyota is stating that my vehicle does not fall under 24ta07. It appears have a vehicle with an engine stall safety issue that is not attached to a recall.
When at a 2 way stop sign, for example, I am fully stopped, foot on the break, I see that there is a break in the cross traffic that indicates that I am safe to cross. I hit the gas and the car does not move for a few seconds. By now the car has me in danger and the other drivers who are coming towards me in the cross traffic. I count on the car to go when I hit the gas, especially when trying to get across a busy street or accelerating from a stop to merge into moving traffic. When the car does not move for a few seconds after hitting the gas, I’ve now been put in danger and have caused a disruption in the flow of traffic as well as putting others in danger. No lights on the dash indicate an issue, the truck is in normal mode, and I have not had this confirmed by a dealer yet, but I’ve read many testimonials from other 2023 Tundra drivers having the same issue.
Check engine light came on suddenly and acceleration slowed… truck will no longer go over 30 mph. Replaced radiator, driver air injection module, and regularly changed oil. No check engine light now the injection module was replaced but truck still will not go over 30 mph or 1800-2000 rpm’s.

On three occasions my check engine light came on. My panel board lite up like a christmas tree. Went to auto store to have it checked out , they were able clear it off. Backtracked 38 miles to find the problem. Rough start at times. Cruise control has shut off by itself for no reason 2/3 times this past year driver side seat that cover seat controls has been replaced once and second is broke again. The same way as the first.
While on highway truck decelerated on its own. We were trying 70 mph and the truck dropped to 60 mph while the gas pedal was still manually engaged. Its becoming an increaingly regular problem that the car will not accelerate from a complete stop, even with gas pedal fully engaged. Potential for accident is high, as there is no reliability when pulling out into traffic. Dealership ran diagnositic check during service, was unable to pin-point issue - - is also 2 to 3 months out on service schedule, so issue was reported early June to dealership but unable to service vehicle until mid-August. Dealerships advice was to report directly to Toyota - since no recall remedy was issued for engine issue and the acceleration issue isn't specifically named in their most recent recall for the 2022 model.
On 07/10 while accelerating from red to green light, at around 50mph truck shook and alerted my attention to dash/odometer because of immediate slowing of truck. Noticed alert for “engine power loss” and “brake failure” and instructed to see dealer. Could not go above 30mph at 2500rpm, thankfully I was 5 minutes from home. Had Tundra towed to dealer. They got Toyota involved and started a case. As of 07/12, dealer was instructed to reset engine valve settings, cleared alerts, and did normal schedule maintenance. I was instructed to drive directly to dealer or pull over where I was and have a technician drive to my location so they could further assess this issue. As if they work 24/7 and would drive outside of city limits…I put 100+ miles a day on my truck for my work commute.
Dead pedal/no acceleration when pedal was depressed. Monday, June 24th, 7:26am zero throttle when taking off from stop light. Delay of 2-3 seconds. Wednesday, June 19th, 5:14pm. Zero throttle response when taking off from a green light. Delay of 3-4 seconds. 3:06pm June 28, zero throttle response for 2 seconds when taking off from stop light. 3:15 pm same thing happened. - personal safety was at risk when traffic around me had to quickly stop so they didn’t rear end me. Problem has a TSB from Toyota which has been performed on my vehicle twice. With the defect returning. Vehicle was previously inspected by dealer in July 2023 and TSB update performed. No warning lights exhibited.
At a four way stop, four cars were stopped waiting for a car with right of way to turn left. Car turning left hesitated. I began to accelerate since myself and another car going straight had next right of way. Another car began to enter intersection so I let off the throttle and began to apply brakes for them to clear the intersection. This car also stopped seeing me begin to go so I hit the throttle as the intersection was clear for me. The truck, still rolling did nothing when I applied the throttle. I applied upwards of 50% throttle while the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds. I let off the throttle completely, for approximately 1 second and hit the throttle again to about 50% to quickly clear the intersection and not cause further confusion. The truck then lurched forward and accelerated rapidly where I had to again back off the throttle. This has happened multiple times. Another time turning left directly into the road (no intersection) pulling out of a shopping center. Pressed the throttle to about 50% after a slight hesitation to check traffic and clear oncoming traffic and the truck did nothing for approximately 2 seconds leaving me partially in the road waiting for acceleration. Let off throttle completely for 1 second and pressed again 50% and truck lurched forwards. Too close of a call for comfort.
Lag in acceleration. Press the accelerator and vehicle takes a few seconds to respond. Trying to right turn on intersection and due to acceleration lag almost got hit by another vehicle. The accelerator should respond immediately when pressed just like it does on all the other vehicles I have driven. This has happened on multiple occasions with this vehicle.
The transmission seems to be confused on which gear to select and hesitates to get the truck moving. It's happened to me at an intersection a few times and my car will inch forward but lags to accelerate, and vehicles behind me have been close to rear ending me. This is very reproducible in the mornings, it's very apparent or when the truck has been sitting off for a long period of time. After driving for a while it no longer happens. Every morning though this issue is apparent.
