4 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 11/09/2024

Sunroof leaking into front driver & passenger pillars with airbags. Dealership quotes $6k to fix, but they didn’t know where / how it’s leaking!! there are no drain lines in this model, so it’s just a leak into the air bags plain and simple. This is a manufacturer issue- if no drain lines / weep holes, then why do you have to replace a $6k sunroof to fix an $50 seal / gasket? very unsat. Others are having the same issue. Saw 13 others with similar or same issue on NHTSA website…Toyota dealer was charging me $1,000 to look at it and tell me , yeah, there is a leak! thats why I brought it to you! this is the panoramic sunroof model. Very unsafe!.

9 Air Bag problem of the 2015 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 11/15/2023

Last December my airbag light came on. I took it to minot Chrysler center and Toyota center and they told me the wires for the airbag under the drivers seat were frayed and needed to be replaced. They also had to replace the harness because they said that too was not working. I had it fixed. Three weeks ago the light went off I made an appointment right away and today they told me it was the same issue and had to replace the wires on the passenger side. I called Toyota and they told me it was up to the discretion of the tech. I called the tech at the Chrysler center and she told me that they couldn’t do that because they would have to file a report and then deal with Toyota. I was not happy with that response and I said OH so you are telling me that’s too much work and I am on my own. I just ended up paying for it twice now. The drivers side was $594. 00 and today’s charges were $485. 00. This is a safety issue and should be addressed.

10 Air Bag problem of the 2013 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 10/06/2023

Subject: formal complaint regarding potential safety issue - 2009-2015 Toyota Venza models dear national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), I am writing to formally report a potential safety concern related to the 2009-2015 Toyota Venza models. The issue pertains to a discernible creaking sound originating from the turn signal stalk when the turn signals are engaged and the steering wheel is turned. Upon thorough examination, it has been identified that the source of this noise is the clock spring, a crucial airbag component designated by its yellow color and distinguished by two orange and yellow wires. It is imperative to emphasize that the clock spring, being a vital element of the airbag system, plays a pivotal role in ensuring occupant safety. Unfortunately, the persistent "clicking/ratcheting" noise associated with the turn signals in these models has been observed to have adverse consequences over time. This prolonged issue leads to clock spring failure, subsequently triggering the activation of the airbag light. It has come to my attention that Toyota is aware of this concern, yet no remedial action has been taken, purportedly due to the relatively low sales volume of the Venza. It is notable that this noise issue is widespread among used Venzas, signifying a systemic problem that necessitates prompt attention. In circumstances where vital airbag components are intricately connected to sensitive elements like the clock spring, the presence of abnormal noises should be considered a cause for concern. Given the critical role of these components in ensuring the efficacy of the airbag system, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter thoroughly. The safety and well-being of vehicle occupants should always be of paramount importance, irrespective of sales figures. Your intervention in addressing and rectifying this potential safety issue would undoubtedly contribute to enhancing the overall safety standards of the affected Toyota Venza models.

15 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 06/17/2023

On 17th June 2023, while returning home on the wa-9/sr-9 nb, I stopped at the red light where wa-2 was crossing. My wife was sitting with me in the car. One Subaru rammed me from behind. This road has a speed limit of 55 miles per hour and is a single-lane state highway. The rear was damaged heavily. I lost control of the vehicle, went into the sb lane, and saw a car approaching me from the opposite direction. I looked right and saw a little space between the car ahead of me and the vehicle ahead of it. I turned right without hitting those two cars and entered the roadside ditch damaging the front. In both cases, the airbag was not deployed, first the ramming from behind and then going into the ditch. Is this normal? later my insurance declared my car as the "total loss. ".

18 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 07/28/2022

As I was pulling in slowly (going about 2 miles or less) to a perpendicular parking spot at my apartment complex, I took my foot off the accelerator to brake. And all the sudden my car lunged forward and rapidly accelerated forward on its own. It was completely terrifying to have the car take over. The car jumped the curb and went over a hill. I couldn't stop the car and I crashed head on into a two story garage. I saw a "malfunction" on the dashboard and the air bags did not deploy. I injured my back, neck and right arm. My new car that only has 9k miles on it was completely totaled. Vehicle is scheduled to be inspected by Toyota's product liability department - 3rd party engineer. The only other time I was concerned about the vehicle was about 5 months ago, I was at a stop sign and when I pushed on the gas, the car felt like it lost acceleration power, but then it was fine after that so I didn't think anything of it. Vehicle is available for inspection for a very limited time (probably within 1-2 weeks of this post), after Toyota inspects it, it will be going to the salvage yard. If you want to inspect it, please contact me ASAP.

19 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Toyota Venza

20 Air Bag problem of the 2021 Toyota Venza

Failure Date: 05/07/2022

It was raining, I was driving in the far left lane next to the center divider. I noticed the car in front of me drive through a significant collection of water that was the width of the entire lane. I was unable to switch lanes, so I slowed down and went through the water as well. As soon as my Venza came to the collection of water, my steering wheel locked up. I was unable to direct the car in the opposite direction of the pull. I was not able to move the steering wheel at all. The car continued to go in it’s own direction, despite me pumping the brakes. The Venza spun out, hit another car before it crashed into the concrete center divider. As a result I smashed my head on the driver’s side window. My driver’s side air bags never deployed. No air bags in the entire car deployed. After hitting the center divider my car ended up in the car right lane. My car was towed from the scene of the accident, it was not drivable. The insurance adjuster originally totaled the car, then they changed their minds and said the car can be fixed. It’s been 3 months and my car is still in the shop. There were no warning lights, it was a brand new car, I had it less than 6 months. I could have died, other people could have died. If the steering wheel didn’t lock up I could have easily maneuvered through the water, like the car did I front of me and like I have done many times in the past with my previous vehicles. If the driver’s side air bag deployed I wouldn’t have suffered such a bad concussion requiring medical attention, neurologist, loss of work and loss of pay.
