On August 18th, I was driving my husband's 2015 Toyota Venza. I ordinarily do not drive it as the vehicle has a surging forward problem. When you take your food off the gas pedal, the vehicle surges forward which one can compensate by quickly hitting the brake pedal. My husband has gotten used to the car doing this so it does not bother him. On this particular day, I was driving along a 2-lane road on a somewhat main road with some businesses on either side and I was driving about 35 mph. We were approaching a popular ice cream plaza when I saw the vehicles up ahead stopping as one of the cars was waiting to cross over to the ice cream shop. I took my foot off of the gas pedal but the car surged forward at a faster speed. I immediately put my foot on the brake pedal but the car continued to accelerate and the brake did nothing so I pushed harder on the brake but the car still did nothing and would not slow down. I finally pushed as hard as I could with no success. Then the wheels locked and the car slid forward and I hit the car in front of me. Toyota took the car after I complained and examined it and said there was nothing wrong. But when we got the car back my husband was doing an errand and approaching an intersection and put his foot on the brake and the car started to slow but then the brake pedal went to the floor. He lifted his foot off the pedal and reapplied and the car slowed and stopped.

While coming to a stop after dropping off my daughter the brakes started making a loud clicking noise. Later while coming to a stop at a red light the brakes acted like they did not want to stop and as I pressed as hard as I could the brakes locked and the car slid into the back of a truck stopped at the red light.

The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the traction control warning indicator was illuminated which caused the contact to into a vehicle. The air bags did not deployed. The contact sustained injuries to the left and right arms medical attention was required. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was damaged and repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was told by the manufacturer that his vehicle was affected by NHTSA campaign number:13v442000(air bags , electrical system , equipment). The contact believed the crashed was related to the recall and that he did not receive a written notification of this recall. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Lb.
I was driving 35 mph (the speed limit) and was approximately 6-8 car lengths from two cars stopped at a green light waiting for oncoming traffic to clear so they could turn left. I took my foot off the accelerator and onto the brakes but they didn't engage. I then slammed on the brakes. I heard the pulsation as if the abs brakes were trying to work but they did not engage. I then checked to see if the lane to my right was clear. When I saw that it was, I tried to steer into it but my car would not steer and I crashed into the second stopped car and it in turn hit the car in front of it. The front passenger in each of those two cars went to get checked out at the hospital. I was 33 weeks pregnant at the time and spent the night in the hospital to monitor my baby.

The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Venza. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted gears from park to reverse independently and without warning. The contact rushed to the car to depress the service brake pedal however, the driver's side wheel ran over the contact's left foot. The contact was taken to a nearby hospital where it was determined that the contact sustained soft tissue injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that was the result of too much pressure on the service brakes. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 200.
Directly above the brake pedal (under the dash cover) is a vent and the obd connector -- their proximity is too close to the brake pedal. The position of these items is a real safety concern, since people with large feet/shoes will hit the vent/connector -- possibly preventing them from applying the brakes in a timely fashion, or at all. The vent and connector should be moved to the left so that there is no impediment in moving the driver's foot frm the gas to the brake pedal.
Driving home from work stopped @ stop sign, the lights on the dash lit up for check braking, abs, vcs system call your dealer. . . . . . So continued to pull out from stop, and squeals the tire, and the vehicle is all over the road when accelerating. Was told it is not a recall problem and my warranty just ran out. . . . . . Vehicle milage 28385. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . If this happens please be careful car does not handle the same and you lose control easily. I think that all wheel drive is involved but it doesn't handle the same when driving. Taking to dealer this week! Toyota ref # 1305200125.

Park the car got out took the keys out,went to the back of car to open trunk car run back on me hit me and ran into a fence.

I have taken the car to two local dealers. One made an inspection the other did not but both responded with the same comment "we don't know". One mechanic told me he thought a recall had been issued on the "break pedal support assembly". I have been unable to locate the recall if it exist. I would appreciate any information you can supply as this continuous "thump" is most irritating and I am concerned about any unusual occurrence in connection with a breaking system.

Brake sticking on 2009 Venza. On 8/9/10 I completed a filing with the administrator of the national hwy traffic safety administration as well as the customer experience center for Toyota regarding my concern with my accelerator sticking. I now think this is more a problem with the braking system than the accelerator. If I press hard on my brake at a stop (whether in reverse or drive) occasionally the accelerator will not engage when I first push on the accelerator. Example: reversed out of the garage . . . Put the car in drive but before I actually press the accelerator first I press down on the brake as I re-position myself in the driver's seat. Then when I press the accelerator to drive forward nothing happens. I must slowly press my foot on the accelerator . . . Once nothing . . . Second time will move forward. It is as if I had to disengage the brakes. In our garage area after I reverse I must turn the car around. At that point I am facing a brick wall. I now am afraid that if the car accelerates out of control I may hit that wall. The distance of 10 feet. Yesterday, I had pressed hard on the brake while sitting at a traffic light. I went to drive and I had no power when I pressed on the accelerator. I lifted my foot a bit and then put it down very slowing a second time. The car moved forward. I recently took the car to a dealer for the recall on the mats. I expressed my concern about the accelerator sticking. They wrote up the mat recall, the engine slippage I have recently noticed in the lower gears, & checked for a ticking noise that I was hearing from the engine. I was told this was a normal sound coming from the fuel injectors. The service rep took me to the car to remove the cover from the top of the engine and I could then hear clearly the injectors clicking. After reading the other engine revving problems I am now worried that the problem I describe will evolve into the fast acceleration which could cause an accident. Next appt. With the dealer 8/19/10.
I was driving (~ 30 to 35 mph) on winter st, framingham, MA around 530pm. I hit brakes at the red signal @ the junc with fountain st, but my car would not stop. Luckily the on-coming traffic stopped preventing a crash.
I own a 2009 Toyota Venza. Recently by rotating the wheels, I noticed the nuts were loosen. So when taking the wheels out, I noticed that the disc brakes were not tighten to the lugs and could roll back and forth by the little bit of the space between the lugs and the lugs' holes. They would be tighten when the wheels were on and tighten with the wheels' nuts. I use my educated guess to guess that when I brake the car, the disc brakes will have a chance to roll in reverse direction of the wheels in that little bit of the space. When I back up the car, then brake, again, the disc brakes will roll the other direction. This action will result in loosing the wheels' nuts after a short while. We have other cars from other manufactures, and we found that they don't design the same way, which the disc brakes are tighten to the lugs alone. I wrote this same email to Toyota, but I don't think they will answer me. I think this is another safety issue. If owners who don't pay attention to retighten the wheels after 5000-7000 miles, they will face a chance of loosing a wheel on the freeway. Please put your engineers to test this issue to help bringing more safety to everyone. Thank you.
This problem which I have noticed in my new 2010 Toyota Venza is similar to the problem being reported in the 2010 prius with the anti-lock brake system. What I have observed is frequent jerks which can be termed as inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of brakes on slick road. This happened on the day when it snowed here in columbus ohio this January. I do not recall the exact date but there result of the action of applying brake did not immediately stop the car and resulted in a drag. Surprisingly, the jerks on application on the brake shock me and I felt as if there was something wrong with the braking system. I am not certain if this is a problem that is exactly similar to what people have been complaining with 2010 prius but 2010 Venza is a new model of cars introduced by Toyota in the last year and I am suspecting this could be the issue. I will make a visit to the dealership this weekend to discuss this issue along with the recall of the floor mat but I am hoping this is not overlooked.
While driving abs/vsc warning light came on, also warning to take car to dealer immediately. Called dealership and described problem of my 2009 Toyota Venza which was difficult to drive due to sense that brake was on. Was told by dealership I could continue to drive car until I could take it to dealership. Car was taken to dealership the next day, where we were told it was dangerous to drive. We were provided a rental car while car was evaluated and parts replaced part 467011 brake pedal support assembly and 1 47110-0t011 support assy,brake we questioned need for failure in a 2009 car and response was that on an assembly line a bad part was probably used. We are uncomfortable with the response and the failure of this type in an obviously safety system.
Venza speeds up does not slow down. Can go fast without stepping on pedal. 2009. Noise in rear and in front. Was told not to worry about it.
2009 Venza, brake problems, took dealer 3 months to claim problem resolved but I'm not convinced that my brakes are ok. I do not think the brakes are safe; I do not trust this car. There is still a safety problem. Problem manifests itself primarily at temperatures 65 or above.
The "lurch" or "brake release" that prius owners describe happens - inconsistently - in my 2009 Venza when slowing down to a stop light or sign. It's been happening since we bought it. Toyota just blows it off as if my wife and I are lying about it. There were some alignment issues with it also and Toyota has worked on and/or "inspected' it several times.
