I went to the dealership to get my safety recall fixed and I was informed that my safety recall cannot be fixed. This is a problem because I am risking my life every time I drive this car I want to know if getting a lawyer to resolve this issue is the best solution to getting this problem solved.
Vehicle is showing an evap canister, purge valve leak which is common across many Toyota`s of high mileage, I would get a faint smell of gas here and there and curious to know if this would be covered. Vehicle is still in great shape and runs strong. Please advise on next steps needed to have this taken care of.

After shopping I tried to start my car. It did a lot of shuttering and the check engine and battery lights came on. It would not run. I called aaa and they said the battery was fully charged. When the aaa tow service came the car started and ran fine. When I got home I checked with my obd ii tool. The code was p0087 fuel rail/system pressure - too low.
Recall for dangerous issue (risk of crash due to faulty fuel pump) has been unresolved since mid 2021. Have contacted several Toyota dealerships who have said they aren’t able to repair fuel pump since a solution for recall hasn’t been issued yet. Contacted Toyota corporate to ask for rental car until a repair is confirmed and they stated they cannot guarantee a rental will be reimbursed and have no timeline for fuel pump solution. Have been unable to drive my car on highway for six months as it feels unsafe.
It was about 90+ degrees fahrenheit on a Friday afternoon. . (prior to this date my wife expressed concern that the car did not accelerate as quickly as she thought it should) we drove in to the parking area of the mall. . . We were undecided where to park and stopped the car. We tried to restart the car but it would not start. It would try to crank but that was all. Since it was so hot we thought that the air conditioner might have drained the battery. We called the aaa and found that it was not the battery. He suggested that the Toyota dealership was a few b locks away that we should have them do further testing. . . . We wanted to at first go home but instead went to the dealership--the car failed to start at all in the doorway of the service entrance. . It would try to crank but that was all just a grinding sort of noise. . . . . . . (we thought that Toyota would pay for our incidental expenses since the car was under warranty. . . So far we have received nothing but Toyota did pay for a car rental on the following Monday. . . . . ) the problem was a failed fuel pump as the service man pointed out the error message was for low pressure on fuel pump. This was serious if we were on the freeway or traveling home for some distance in remote areas. . They obviously could be a collision or we would be stranded without any form of help. . . . . The dealer explained the the fuel pump was replaced by an updated or modified model not the same one in the car. . . They kept the original pump. . . . .
From July 2020 - Jan 2021, I experienced my vehicle cranking but not starting on multiple occasions. I took it in several times to be fixed, but the problem was intermittent and could not be duplicated. However, the last time I picked it up from Toyota (problem could not be duplicated), it happened and I called the service advisor over, and he even tried turning it, but it wouldn't start. The solution was the key fob. I inquired how they knew it was the key fob, but they did not give me an answer. February 2021 it started to happen again. . But has not occurred as of March 2021. I think when it shuts off driving on the freeway, then maybe Toyota would investigate this more. The second problem that has happened infrequently in 2020 was my backup camera being blacked out or glitchy. As of February 2021, this would occur frequently, however intermittent as well. I showed the service advisor the video of the problem, but they couldn't fix it if they can't replicate it. I contacted Toyota customer service again to address these two problems. I think 2019 Toyota Yaris is a lemon vehicle with not many sold, therefore unlikely for Toyota to take action if there is no class action lawsuit mandating them. Perhaps it made financial sense similar to the Ford pinto. I would advise more people with 2019 Toyota Yaris to post here, so NHTSA could investigate, call Toyota customer service so they can account for the problems, or reach out to a lawyer, because you should not be fixing a new car to this extent. . .
The car broke down in the heat. The car would not start after vehicle stopped. The vehicle cooled off after 1 hour it started. We took to Toyota. They thought it was a battery. They replaced it. The broke down on the same issue 1 week later. We took it again to Toyota. They said nothing was wrong with it. We took it home. It broke down again on the 09/01/2020. The car has been there since th 1st of the month. It is fuel issue problem and there is a lot of cars out there for the same problem. The parts are all on back order now. Thats why it is taking so long. The parts are back order until the 24th of the month. We are going to report this car has a lemon.
Car shuts on and off, off and on when starting or while driving.

Experienced failure of emissions evap system due to water intrusion through poorly designed components. Check engine lamp (cel) illuminated constant on during highway travel. Stored dtcs of p043e, p043f, p2401, p2402, and p2419. Internet search reveled existing issue in TSB eg048-07 which notes water enters filler pipe cover, contaminates canister filter, then damages the evap pump located in charcoal canister. Repair requires an updated filler cover ($6), replacement of filter ($50), new canister ($600), plus 0. 5hr of labor charges. Applicable warranty is 3year/36000miles. During repair replaced filler cover, filter, then cleaned entire system of water. Note: this Yaris was already built using the updated filler cover p/n. Yaris failed the following test drive done in attempt to avoid expensive canister replacement. Followed Toyota service manual to troubleshoot canister which lead to permanent damage. Three bolts attach the pump valve to the canister via plastic threaded inserts. These inserts stripped inside the plastic, rendering the canister unusable. Replacing with new canister and retesting for repair. This portion of the emissions system is related to a mandated requirement. This failure should be covered under the longer term emissions warranty period and not this shorter term period. Failure of a $6 component resulting in victim failures of $650 in additional components is irritating to the consumer and irresponsible of the manufacturer. Customer has already noted that this event will affect (negatively) future vehicle purchase decisions. Note: this failure does not seem to affect mpg or operation but does illuminate the cel. Consumers might operate w/o repair which will condition them to accept an illuminated cel. They might not be notified of other obd malfunctions and partially disabled emissions control system.

After washing the underside of the car, the cel came on. Five p codes came up on scanner. The dealer told me that water got into the charcoal canister and that I would have to replace it along with other related parts total cost to me $1027. 83 which includes nys tax not including labor charge. Toyota has corrected this problem on the newer models but mine was beyond the warranty even though they admit to a defect. Included in the parts list is some sort of water deflector so that this will not happen again. Toyota said that there has not been enough complaints to warrant a recall. I live in upstate new york where salt is used on the roads and it is advisable to wash under the vehicle. Also, it does rain on occasion and water is splashed up under the car. I now have 57000 miles on the car with no chance of passing inspection. I was told that in the event of a recall, I could be entitled to a refund. I think that most people would not bother to lodge a complaint so no chance of a recall.
I have a light on my dash that looks like an engine. Had the car tested and it shows that it is a little module type deal that has had to do with fuel evaporation or something on that line. Sounds like they are notorious for going bad. Its like a $300 part.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Yaris. While driving at 35mph, the vehicle began to shudder and loss complete power without warning. State farm was contacted a towed the vehicle to the dealer (andy mohr Toyota 8941 e us hwy 36, avon, in 46123 (317) 713-8181) where it was diagnosed and determined that the fuel sender unit was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However, the failure recurred. The vehicle then was taken to another dealer thompson's Honda 7050 s us hwy 41, terre haute, in 47802 (812) 232-1111 where a 2nd diagnosed test was perofed and determined that the fuel sender unit was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. Ck.
The Toyota Yaris has a drive-by-wire system that results in a delayed response of about two to three seconds when the accelerator pedal is applied. I have a 2009 model, but have been informed by a friend who has a 2011 Yaris that the same issue is present. The delayed accelerator response is not only unnerving, it is dangerous in a parking situation. I called Toyota corporate customer relations, who referred me to a dealer. I spoke to two service managers in portland, or who both indicated this problem can only be repared with a software patch, which is not available.
My son was on his way to work and car flipped 4 times air bags malfunctioned causing him a brain injury and now lives with seizures he is only 23 yes old and is taking 6000 mg's of kepra a day for the rest of his life.

My Toyota Yaris 2007 sedan is jerking . I took it for a service at Toyota two weeks back but it still does the same. They changed the petrol filter. The jerking never went away. The dealer then changed the petrol pump and the jerking is still there, it comes and goes. But it shakes so hard I can not take it. The Toyota dealer does not know what is wrong with the car. They keep test driving it and I am afraid by the time they finish if they ever find the problem the car will be due for another service. So far I don't have wheels while they keep my car.
I was driving my 2007 Toyota Yaris on March 30,2010 around 1600 hrs and the accelerator stuck in the full throttle position and caused a collison after the brakes failed to hold the vehicle back for approx 200 feet down the road. When a good samaritan stopped the accelerator was still stuck full throttle and caused the vehicle to skid off the roadway into a ditch where it traveled down the ditch coming to rest against a large boulder. I sustained a concussion and knee and hip pain associated with the impact. I am wishing to report this incident since Yaris has not been mentioned in any of the literature I have found printed by Toyota. My vehicle was purchased at bryan easler Toyota in hendersonville nc and had 50000 miles on it and it is still under warranty all maintenance has been performed at this location and they should have any records you require. Your attention to this matter will be greatly appreciated.
I was driving a 2010 Toyota Yaris rental car from hertz. The vehicle had difficulty starting, so I jump started it from another vehicle. It ran a bit rough for a few minutes, so I let it warm up. I put it into drive and proceeded to drive home. The car refused to accelerate beyond 1,000 rpm in drive. The maximum speed I was able to achieve was 10 mph (down hill). I shut off the car and started it again (after letting it idle for 10 minutes). The "check engine" light was on, but in park - the car could be revved to 2,000 rpm (max). That is with my foot on the floor. There were no floor mats in the vehicle. I pulled the car over - parked it and called hertz to come pick it up. I am not sure if the Yaris is being recalled, but NHTSA should take a look at this model as well.
I was behind another vehicle on a ramp leading from one roadway to another and now realize that I had experienced unintended acceleration as I was slowly following the vehicle in front of me on this uphill ramp and my vehicle lunged forward striking the other vehicle. This vehicle was a loaner from galaxy Toyota, eatontown,NJ. , a 2009 Yaris. It was towed back to Toyota.
