Our vehicle got recalled and we're worried for the safety of our kids in a small unstable 2019 Toyota Yaris.
I got new tires and took the car for an alignment. I am constantly having to slightly correct my steering wheel. One to three degrees to the left and right at any speed the entire time I am driving. It was setup for the diagnostic test and the technician came back in less than five minutes. To tell me that there is nothing wrong with my alignment and everything was at factory spec. So I told him to drive it and tell me that there is nothing wrong with my car. He came back looking shocked and said that was weird. Like driving on wet glass. So he started to ask me questions. My answers to the question were. I am the original owner, never been in an accident with the car or hit debris of any kind. Tires are brand new, no check engine or warning lights. Diagnostic scanner to the obd port came back with no problems. Car had 25,000 miles on it at the time. I've been told it could be any of eight or nine problems or a combination of a few. Electric power steering, traction control, abs, tire pressure monitor, steering angle sensor, tie rod, ball joints, suspension. My question is, how does this happen with regular service and no warning detection system on board or service equipment finding anything ???.
I noticed that my car would not brake properly if I happened to be breaking over an uneven service years ago. So, I drive to avoid having to do so. But, then recently it started making a squealing noise along with breaking. It comes and goes. Then, a clunking noise started when reversing. Now, the clunking noise comes in either direction. The squealing has graduated to scratching and scraping when I accelerate or decelerate. It comes from my front, passenger side tire and when I turn my steering wheel all the way to the right, it gets very loose - whereas turning all the way to the left still feels appropriately tight. I think the looseness is connected to the front right passenger side wheel, as if a piece has broken or is loose - because it comes and goes. This all happens when I'm moving, no matter what terrain it is (highway, city street, etc. ) and whether I am turning or not.

P/s dashboard red light came on with sudden loss of steering assist while turning and driving. Luckily the car is light, but I could have easily hit an object, had it happened in a different location or at a different speed. Problem disappeared by itself. Two weeks thereafter, an extremely strong burned electrical circuitry smell suddenly filled the vicinity of the car, could be felt from about 10 feet away, while idling, while stopped for approximately 30 seconds with front wheels turned to the right about half-way, as I was checking my mail box upon entering driveway. A low pitch whining/droning noise was emanating from under the hood while the car was idling. The noise and odor persisted after the steering was set at 0 degree angle and after the car was parked. No p/s dashboard warning light came on. No loss of steering assist. No visible sign of smoke, fire, or melted plastic in engine compartment fuse box. Wire harnesses looked intact. Suspect eps - electric power steering motor. Outside temperature about 85of. Car driven for just 3 miles on that day, side street driving only, never over 35 mph. Ac fan on full blast, headlights off. Car had difficulty accelerating upon depressing the gas pedal on same day, prior to aforementioned incident.

With only 500 miles on it I had alignment issue with this brand new car Toyota Yaris 2019. After fix that I still had safety problem that is either related to steering, tier, suspension, beam torsion or anything else that cause my car feeling like drifting or sliding to right or left while driving around 60 or above. Feels like driving on slippery snowy road. I cant have my car controlled even thought by holding the steering very tight. I have passed 2 serious accident already and have a feeling this car with 185 inch tier is only designed for city or for speed below 60 mph and thats how met Toyota safety and expectation!!! very disappointed such a big company is re badging Mazda 2 and sell it under Toyota with safety issue. They need to get recall on these type of car if they think this car doesnt have any issue and the car is totally fine before some big lawsuit is taking place. I concern about my and other vehicle safety while driving and need to report and follow up on this.
With only 500 miles on it I had alignment issue with this brand new car Toyota Yaris 2019 which was purchased on Apr 2019. After I took my car to tustin Toyota dealership, they fixed the alignment for the first time I had the same issue I took my car there for the second time they said nothing wrong with it while I had document of alignment failed which im attaching it. I still have safety problem that is either related to steering, tier, suspension, beam torsion or anything else that cause my car feeling like drifting or sliding to right or left while driving around 60mph or above. Feels like driving on slippery snowy road. I cant have my car controlled even though by holding the steering very tight and its a huge road with so many trucks which can be so dangerous. I have passed 2 serious accident already and have a feeling this car with 185 inch tier is only designed for city or for speed below 60and thats how met Toyota safety and expectation as they confirming their safety and not providing any other help!!! very disappointed such a big company is re badging Mazda 2 and sell it under Toyota with safety issue. They need to get recall on these type of car if they think this car doesnt have any issue and the car is totally fine before some big lawsuit is taking place. I concern about my and other vehicle safety while driving and need to report this to take some action.
Bought car with 99k miles. Noted a clunk in suspension. Decided to fix by process of elimination. Turned out it was a broken bolt that holds the control arm inside the subframe which is not accessible from the exterior. Steering was very off and this was a very dangerous issue that is clearly a defect from the manufacturer: the front subframe was poorly designed and the inner bolt that holds the long horizontal control arm bolt was improperly welded or the inner sub frame was made so water could get in and rust said bold/weld.

"takata recall" notice was sent. When I tried to contact a dealership there was no local dealership on hawaii to correct the issue. I would like this issue fixed due to the "takata recall" but not have to send my vehicle to the continental us due to this issue not being my fault.
Takata recall received interim notice, but did not receive any remedy notification later. Just received auto airbag settlement notice today. Called local dealer to follow the notice of getting the airbag replaced ASAP, and they said they had nobody there to operate the computer to verify my car was under the recall & call back another day. How come I could verify the same day on my phone & the dealer could not? now, I need to take my wife to the hospital & will not be able to contact the dealer until later. So two complaints; no remedy notification & delay by the local dealer.
Hi , my cars steering wheel horn is not working.

The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Yaris. While driving 5 mph, the steering wheel shook while making a turn. In addition, the front driver side wheel made a popping noise while turning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 31,532.
My car star to by hard to move that whell k.
I haf a car accident due to break malfunction and airbag didnt deploy Toyota is discriminating.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The contact stated that while driving at 10 mph without warning the steering wheel seized which caused the contact to crash into another vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. There was no police report filed. The contact stated that there was no injury sustained in the crash. The vehicle was not towed to a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available. Ah.
The airbag did not deploy even though I hit the fence beside the window.
I was involved in a head on collision into a utility pole on a two lane roadway. I was found unconscious in my car. I have no recollection of the collision itself but no other car was found to be involved. The drivers side of the vehicle experienced the most damage. I had my seats belt on but not a single airbag in the entire vehicle deployed, despite the disabling damage that occurred to the vehicle. I have reached out to Toyota multiple times since the incident occurred yet about the concern of no airbags deploying yet was never notified that this was even an option to report the failure of the airbag to deploy in an accident, especially where the head on collision totaled the car. The pictures of the incident attached to this report were obtained by my father in the days following the accident and include the road of the accident and the car. The steering wheel is visibly deformed from the impact my body had on it during the crash. I fractured the c2 segment in my neck and to this day still suffer from complications from the concussion and injuries of this crash on a daily basis. I have been through neurologically testing and therapies related to the injuries. These injuries have impacted my life greatly and I feel as though my concern is being disregarded by Toyota. I strongly feel as though my injuries would not have been nearly as severe if the airbag deployed and I would really appreciate it if you could look into the case. I do have additional information and pictures if needed.
There is a dead spot in the power steering when going straight. When you correct to maintain lane, the power steering "kicks in" and the car does a slight jerking motion in the direction of the turn. At 65 mph on the highway, it becomes a job to maintain a lane on the highway. My dealership has had the car for almost a week and they know what it is doing, but they do not think there is a fix for it, nor do they see it as different from other vehicles. I have had the car since it came ordered directly from Toyota. I am the one that has put the 83000 miles on it. And there is defiantly a issues showing up with the electric assist power steering. Maybe thru long term wear and tear, but it is getting worse.
Bolts that holds a-arms are gone rusted completely off suspension is popping Toyota refuses to fix the problem even after knowing it’s a manufacturing defect estimated cost for repair is 2,500+ for a 7 year old car that only has 132k miles.
Purchased Dec. 2014 , Yaris 2015 makes grinding noise when on left turns only, maintenance done one month after to resolve issue ,but the noise and grinding still continue .
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The contact stated while at a stop sign and attempting to make a turn, the steering wheel became difficult to turn without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v292000 (steering). The failure mileage was unavailable.
Tl - the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Yaris. The contact stated that the vehicle was making a loud clunking noise. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the bolt from control arm fractured as a result of corrosion. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 75,000. Pm.
The car tilt to the right, sometimes wobbles on the road. At some curbs applies the antilock at the right no matter. This happen while in montion once it reach beyond the 20 miles. When driving in slow traffic it jumps.

The contact indicated that during the crash the air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered a left knee and back injury during the incident. A police report was taken at the scene. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 67,000. Jft.
The contact owned a 2007 Toyota Yaris. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brakes failed and the steering locked. As a result, the contact crashed the vehicle into the rear of the preceding vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained burns on the chest, a cut on the lip, and a bruised right arm and leg. Medical attention was received. A police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v169000 (seats). The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
Energy level in battery was sufficient to start yariz but insufficient to keep/get the electric power steering motor to operate correctly. Result: my 80 year old wife was able to get out parking lot but after she tried to make right hand turn she ended up in oncoming traffic lane, fortunately 2 cars were able to swirl to their right hand side, hence collision was avoided. Alternator must have kick in because power steering started to work again. Event occurred in mexico.
While driving at highway speeds, steering stick when trying to make slight steering corrections. This has gotten bad enough to where vehicle makes lane changes when just trying to make slight correction. Have had the vehicle checked several times, the acceleration sensor has been relearned three separate times with little or no change. This is very annoying and dangerous.
Purchased 2008 Toyota Yaris sedan used in 7/09 for my daughter with 16,000 miles on it. She's at college so I drive it every other day to work which is only 10 miles. I began to notice a sound when I made a sharp right hand turn into a parking spot like the noise of an actual bar and also a rattle if I went over a small dip in the road. I was told it needed new tires on 10/12/12 @ 29,645 miles, I bought good, safe tires:goodyear eagle LS tires 185/60r15. On 5/10/13 I had her car serviced at Toyota: oil change, tires rotated, inspection of air filter, ball joints, etc. Afterwards, as I was driving my daughter and I up to my son's college graduation it was 80 degrees/sunny/clear roads. 52 miles into our trip I was in the slow lane following traffic at 65 mph. Watching the road, both hands on the steering wheel. All of a sudden the steering wheel jerked to the left and we began to go into a skid. I was avoiding other cars as I was trying to regain control of the Yaris. It was buckling under me each time I tried to carefully get us out of the skids. My foot was not on the brake but I had carefully pulled it off of the accelerator and I remember thinking why wasn't the car slowing down, it just kept skidding. After the 4th skid it went into a complete 180 degree spin with us slamming into the cement median. I slammed on the brakes as we went toward the wall. I have been driving for 35 yrs with no accidents and I have been in skids before, on icy roads & regained control. I do not know what caused the steering to malfunction. I have read about faulty bolts on the control arm. The auto repair shop did tell me they replaced the stabilizer bar. I have noticed since the repair the noise under the car is gone and the throttle no longer "screams" when I take my foot off the gas going downhills. We were not speeding, nor driving carelessly. This car does not have abs nor anti-spin brakes.
While driving the car at approximately 10 mph the abs and brake lights came on. At the same time the abs felt like they engaged. After researching the problem online I found out that many users in the us and canada are having the same problem due to faulty abs wheel speed sensors on the wheel hub. Due to the salt on the roads during the winter months, salt can enter the sensor and corrode the terminals. This is due to a poor seal between the connector and the wiring harness. When salt water enters the terminals it causes the abs to act up. This is true for 2007 and 2008 models according to other Yaris users. It seems that the problem has been taken care of in 2009 models. But for owners of 2008 and 2007 models problem exists even after replacing the sensor and wiring harness with new ones. This is a major safety concern since the abs system can engage at any time possibly causing an accident and/or injury to the driver and passengers.
My 4 year old 2008 Toyota Yaris with approximately 57,000 miles started making a clunking/banging sound when I would travel over small bumps or brake slowly. I took the car to my mechanic who looked at it and told me that I should take it to the Toyota dealer for repairs. He told me that a bolt holding the passenger lower suspension arm to the frame had corroded and sheared off. He said that if I continued driving it the entire passenger side suspension and wheel would likely break away from the car. He showed me a repair bulletin that Toyota had produced detailing the problem and stated that they should take care of it because it was an obvious manufacturing defect and since failure of that bolt could lead to a catastrophic accident. I took my car to the dealership and they looked up the bulletin and showed me that this problem was only covered as part of the basic 3 year warranty. I would be responsible for paying for the repair myself. When I picked up my car from the dealership they handed me what was left of the bolt they replaced and the other bolt that held the control arm in place. Both bolts were badly corroded and had been replaced with new bolts that the service manager told me were a different part number and were corrosion resistant. Toyota obviously knows that this is a problem because they are using different parts than the cars were shipped with from the factory. The Toyota service manager told me to keep my receipt because he expects this to be a recall issue and told me that I will be reimbursed when it is recalled. Please force Toyota to recall these vehicles before someone loses the front end of their car and their life because of a poorly constructed $5 bolt.
Purchased a 07 Toyota Yaris on 6/7/2010 certified with 77302 miles on it for my son. Car has had no incidents until 7/25/10 at approx 7:30 - 7:45pm est. Driving conditions were sunny and clear. My son and I have driven on the road many times before as it is very close to the house. When my son was trying to bear right around a turn at the top of the hill while going approx 25-30 mph he could not turn right to stay in his lane. Applied the brakes while the car drove directly into a large tree. There was no way to avoid the tree as the car would not allow him to steer it. The posted speed limit is 40 mph for the general area and 25 mph suggested speed for the curve. Although no airbags deployed, neither driver or passenger were injured. Damage to front end and the left quarter panel pushed back into the left door so the hinge is impeded when opening the door. Engine was pushed back on a tilt. The officer said he could not see any other way the accident could have happened as no one would willingly drive directly into a tree on purpose. The car was towed to a local Toyota dealership that evening. On 7/26 I spoke to the service manager (sm) as directed by the gm. The sm suggested I speak to Toyota via an 800 #. I called, gave details as described above and have a case number. I was assigned a case manager on 7/27 and was promised a regional Toyota investigator would look at the car within 10-14 business days. Shortly thereafter I spoke to the collision manager to advise her of the issue and waited for someone to contact me from Toyota advising me when the inspection will take place. On 8/13 a rep from Toyota's exec. Office contacted me and indicated I would need to sign an edr data readout authorization and consent form. They think the inspection will occur on 8/19 or 8/20. I have requested to videotape the computer screen during the download of edr & ecm data along with it backed up on a usb drive and get a printout and explanation from the inspector.
Bought vehicle on 3/7/10 while drove vehicle around 30-40 mph the vehicle pulls gradually either side. When direction is corrected ,the vehicle goes on other side, correct it ,goes on other and cycle goes on. Apparent problem may be something with the steering system. The Toyota vehicle technician repaired the vehicle for wheel alignment, but the problem is still here. The technician said the vehicle is new,the tire would take time to wear out and vehicle steering would correct itself. Now the mileage is 1000,there is no improvement. I have not driven this in freeway, until today. I scared to drive any more. I can cause accident driving more 40 mph.
The steering in my 2010 Toyota Yaris. I took the car to the dealer and told them the steering wheel was not centered. I left the car for 3 hours and came back and all they wrote on the paper was the tires were low on air. That was not true I had check that and also let the car get 1450 miles on it so the tires would wear in correct thing that would make the steering wheel centered. Then I went back to get the car and it took it for a test ride and it was not right. Then I took a ride with mechanic he knew what I was talking about then they took the car to align the front end and it still was not centered the steering wheel. Also when I asked the service manager was the steering wheel centered he said they did the aliment and would say they centered the wheel. This electric steering is not right and handles very bad. Its a new car. This is a problem the day I got the car.
