Passenger occupant detection system to detect a malfunction and switch off the passenger airbag, even though the seat may be occupied. In a crash with frontal airbag deployment, there would be an increased risk of injury to the occupant seated in the front passenger seat if the passenger frontal airbag is switched off or not working. Our airbag warning light, comes on and off. This happens sporadically whether the passenger seat is occupied or not. An error message displayed in the instrument cluster and by the status of the passenger airbag off indicator light. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? we utilize all seats in our Volkswagen Atlas since we have a large family. We are being told that we no longer should allow a front passenger to sit in the passenger seat due to the airbag no longer deploying. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes. We called vw dealership in melbourne, florida on 6/28 and they confirmed that the vehicle had a recall on the airbag. No one has been injured but this poses a significant safety risk to our family.

The passenger air bag light comes on at random times, even when sitting in seat. It says the airbag detection system may be faulty and the airbag may not deploy when needed. There is a recall for some Volkswagen's but not mine. This light has been coming on for 2 years and it sounds like the recall but since my VIN number is not in the recall, I cannot get it fixed. I believe this may be the same problem as can be life threatening in an accident or another time. I would like Volkswagen to check and fix this under the recall that was made in 4/2023. Please help if you can.
Around may 2023, I received a passenger airbag safety recall for my Volkswagen Atlas. The letter states that the passenger occupancy detection system (pods) is faulty and that in the event of an accident, the passenger airbag would likely not work. They said that no one can sit in the passenger seat until this recall is fixed. The issue is that they have no way to repair it, no set time of when it will be repairable and have offered no type of solution or compensation in the meantime. I can no longer use my vehicle for rideshare to make money so my income is being affected, apps like turo and uber have told me that after running the VIN on my vehicle and seeing this outstanding recall, I can not use my car for their services. Not only that but it makes it extremely difficult to transport my family since the seat cannot be used. I can't in my right conscience sell the vehicle and potentially be responsible for another family to suffer an injury due to this recall so I am stuck and need a solution to this problem sooner than later. I have talked to others facing these same issues.
I am writing in to complain about the recall associated with the passenger airbag for vw Atlas for which I received no information from the manufacturer or from my local vw dealer. The amount of time that this serious safety-related recall has been open is completely unsatisfactory. What is being done to resolve the situation?.
Airbag error light keeps popping on and beeping this is a problem because I have a family that ride in the car with me and this has been a problem long before I purchased the vehicle so why haven’t it been fixed yet.

I am experiencing the airbag issue described in the recall campaign. The passenger seat airbag warning light goes off constantly. Current "solution" is to not use the passenger seat until a repair can be made. . . However it has been nearly 6 months without any updates.
I have a recall on my vehicle that is potentially life threatening if the vehicle is in an accident and the manufacturer has no remedy for it yet. What do I do?.
Please it’s been almost a year with no resolution from Volkswagen. It’s insane!.
The vehicle is a 2018 vw Atlas se w/tech 2. 0t fwd. The manufacturer recall number is 69fb. The NHTSA recall number is 23v215. The recall status is incomplete because a remedy is not yet available. I have called several vw dealerships and they are all saying there is no remedy identified yet for this. This has been a known issue since April 2023. It has now been 8 months. How long does a manufacturer have to not remedy a safety situation?.
Passenger air bag recall.
Manufacturer has no resolution for this issue. I contacted dealership and manufacturer for resolution as my vehicle is unable to be used in the manner in which is intended and was told that they have no resolution for me. It has been a year with no communication or resolution.
My vehicle was recalled 3/29/23, and no attempt has been made to fix the problem. At this time, the dealer has no remedy. I do not have full use of my vehicle as the manufacturer suggests that no one ride in the front passenger seat due to the potential fault in the system. The extended wait to have a fix for the problem is unacceptable. No dealership will want to purchase this car with the current recall so I am stuck. The NHTSA should immediately do something about this manufacturer recall. Vw should be made to repair the problem ASAP and pay for the loss of the full use of the vehicle.

There has been an airbag recall on my 2018 vw Atlas since March of 2023 with no remedy from the manufacturer even though it’s been almost a year. I have not been able to have someone ride in my front passenger seat for almost a year with no advice or remedy from vw. Vehicle has been in dealership to try to fix this 3-4 times but fix has not worked.
