1 Assist problem of the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 10/16/2025

The infotainment system, which controls most of the functions of driving safely, is down again for the 2nd time since I purchased my Atlas on 6/9/25. The first time it happened, the local vw dealer had me bring it in on 8/30 & they "fixed" it relatively quickly. They stated it was a local issue & had many Atlas screens that went down but they didn't know why. Now on 10/16 this occurred again, I called the local vw dealer & was told they can't get me in for over 2 weeks. I have a long trip planned before that & also I am heading back south for the winter prior to the date they can get me in. I was told I can drop off the vehicle for an unknown time frame - which leaves me no vehicle at all unless I rent a car for this unknown time frame. A second service advisor called me back to advised it is now a nationwide issue & as of now, there is no solution to fixing it. So why would I drop off my vehicle if there is no solution for this issue?.

3 Assist problem of the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 06/10/2025

When driving on a road with lane markings after the vehicle has been sitting in direct sunlight for about an hour the lane keep assist system will fail due to over temperature warning in the windshield camera module. The dashboard will display the message “lane assist is currently not available. Please see owner's manual. ” and any driver assist system that utilizes the lane assist system will become unavailable for about 15 minutes. After about 15 minutes of driving the errors will go away as the system reboots itself with no notification that the system functionality has returned. The “over temperature” error was confirmed by my local vw dealership on June 10, 2025 but has occurred 3 separate times.

4 Assist problem of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 05/24/2024

Using adaptive cruise control with lane departure. Driving on a straight stretch of interstate with audio (music) at high level. Car suddenly braked and jerked wheel right risking a crash. Vehicle does not do well on straight stretches of road. Thinks driver is not steering, and will populate a msg on dash, followed by a red light and a signal tone. These aren't easily noticed when head is up and eyes on road with audio level high. Vw should change this to remove braking and instead it deactivates cruise and/or wheel vibrate only.

Failure Date: 09/10/2022

The acc and lane assist will not work. There is no obstruction of view from any sensor or camera. This is a known problem with vw and they haven’t done anything about this. This is a 2018 model. There is no reason for this to be happening.

8 Assist problem of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 01/11/2022

The side airbags for this vehicle have been deployed, and there is no physical damage to the car and no indications of a collision. The side airbags deployed after checking a curb at 30 miles an hour. The incident happened in January of 2022. The other thing that happened during this incident, is that the passenger seat (that was not occupied) was deployed causing my wife to receive a concussion. We contacted vw corporate, and they deny any wrongdoing after they have "thoroughly evaluated" the data from the car, which I have asked for and have not been formally given. The dealer nor vw corporate has conveyed if this issue has been reproduced and the service tech shared that this should have not happened but ultimately he is not the deciding authority for such a matter as this. I had informed the dealer in Dec. 2021 that there was an issue on the right side of the vehicle (passenger) and they were not able to look into it. It is possible that this matter would have been avoided if it was looked at in Dec. 2021. I was not aware of giving permission to the manufacturer for my daily vehicle stats; I have to imagine this is another issue of privacy and do not recall signing a waiver of any sort regarding this. The lane-keeping assistant feature seems to not be working either which if it was it would have corrected it back into the middle of the lane.

9 Assist problem of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 01/04/2022

The driver door contact switch and door harness is faulty, which triggers several errors while driving. The lane keep assist and departure warning does not work when this is happening. Additionally, when braking, the car has several alarms that chime repeatedly, including low coolant, driver door contact switch, electronic parking brake failure, hill start assist, and dynamic cornering lights. The car beeps nonstop while the brakes are applied and the car is at a complete stop. The parking brake also engages when the brakes are applied, making it very unsafe to drive. When I called the dealership to schedule an inspection, they reported that they don’t need to inspect the car because they know exactly which part is causing the problem, and ordered me the part. However the part is on back order, so I’ve had to drive the car in this condition, as they will not put me in a rental. The dealership has informed me there is nothing else they can do, and Volkswagen customer care will not respond to my requests to discuss.

10 Assist problem of the 2021 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 10/21/2021

Lane assist erratic performance. 1)on October 21st, 2021, while leaving a parking slot (cars parked on both sides of the affected vehicle) the “lane assist” warning and the instrument panel “lane assist” light came up (I. E. , lane with a car on the lower side of the instrument panel). This occurred while moving less than 5 mph. The parking brake activated stopping the car and the lane assist was disabled (I. E. , turned off). 2)on October 25th, 2021, while turning on the vehicle, a “malfunction” was briefly displayed on the instrument panel. There were no cars or objects on either side of the vehicle. Immediately after, a warning symbol and a yellow lane with a car symbol was displayed. The lane assist was disabled. The warning signs were cleared after the car was turned off and back on, but the lane assist remained disabled (I. E. , turned off).

11 Assist problem of the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

Failure Date: 04/14/2021

My 2018 Atlas lane assist pulls the vehicle into another lane without warning or intention forcing me to keep a firm grip on the vehicle at all times. This usually happen on a busy highway but it also happens on secondary roads as well. It is scary for me as well as any other passengers in the vehicle. I have complained to vwofa aa well as the local dealer where I purchased the vehicle. They cannot find anything wrong. It is something that happens randomly. They did a short test drive and found nothing but it keeps happening. For that reason I rarely use the vehicle. It is a safety hazard.
