One problem related to air bag on-off switch has been reported for the 2001 Volkswagen Beetle. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Air bag light came on and stayed on. Car shop said the seat belt switch assembly failed, and needed to be replaced. If there was a crash, the seat belt would not lock and the driver would be thrown into the air bag.
