Check Engine Light On problems of the 2010 Volkswagen CC

Two problems related to check engine light on have been reported for the 2010 Volkswagen CC. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

When turning corners, check engine light would flash on and engine would sometimes misfire. I took it in to the vw dealership to look at it for the second time. They performed diagnostics and then went to pull the vehicle out of shop and it would not start. They determined the timing chain slipped. Thankful that this did not happen while driving as it would have been very dangerous. The dealership must dismantle the engine to determine root cause and price for proper repairs, which they are estimating as $2,000 to $5,000 - which is more than the car is worth. We took great care of this car including servicing as recommended. It had 150k miles, but we should have been able to drive this car for many more miles. Vw should have issued a bulletin for servicing this known issue and we would not have been forced to buy a new vehicle, moreover, they should have issued a recall as this could be fatal if it went out while driving.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/09/2017

I have a 2010 Volkswagen Cc sport with a little more than 91872 miles on it. I was accelerating on the highway and my vehicle began to sputter. The epc light and the check engine warning light came one. My vehicle has had sluggish acceleration since then. I have noticed that this problem has occurred with several Volkswagen owners. There seems to be several different options when it comes to repairing this problem. The only thing that seems to be common is that it occurred when accelerating. The other thing that I have noticed is that this problem is not specific to one vehicle in the Volkswagen line up. This is definitely a manufacturers safety defect in their system that needs to be corrected before it causes an accident. I am aware of NHTSA recall number17v509 (manufacturer recall number20ae). This recall is for the fuel pump module which could result in a no start condition or a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion. The epc warning light has the same safety risk as this recall. This could result in a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.
