Six problems related to engine belts and pulleys have been reported for the 2012 Volkswagen CC. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Engine shutoff. Timing belt issue. Electrical issues before this.
The car has 50,000 miles on it and one day I started the car in the morning and it was quite as it should be then it started it to misfiring and start to shut off. I took it to the mechanic and the dealer, they both confirmed that the timing belt needs to be replaced and I shouldn't be starting the car until I get it fixed. I can not believe that this major problem will occur on a car that has a low mileage like mine.
My car engine broke down all of a sudden without giving any engine light warning. I had to tow my car to a Volkswagen dealer and they diagnosed the car and said that it did not have any engine oil in it and because of which timing belt ripped off and damaged all the pistons. This was very very unexpected because it did not give me any engine light on. If engine oil is low it should have given a warning light to catch my attention. Very fortunately it happened in my community and did not happen on busy highway with my baby on board. I cannot imagine that happening with baby on board on interstate.
Vw timing belt was replaced at 50000 miles, now needs to be replaced again at 114000 which is causing chain to skip teeth. Engine rattles now. Vw warned that this is a known issue and do not drive because engine can fail completely. Vw will not cover the faulty chain. 2 chains under 120000 miles, which manual says will not need service until 120000.
The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. While driving 45 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing belt failed and the engine needed to be replaced. In addition, the vehicle experienced engine failure when the dealer replaced the coils. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The failure mileage was 93,000.
The car started acting up around 50,000 miles. The engine check light when on. The car started running rough. The dealership said it was the coils. They were change the check engine light came on again couple of months after. Took it to the dealership they could not say what was wrong. I when several times the last time I when they told me that the timing belt is skipping and there is damage on the engine. The incident happen while I was getting into the freeway the car could not accelerate more then 30mph. It made it very dangerous for me to stay on the freeway so I exit as soon as I could. At the dealer they told me this type of car always has engine trouble typically when the warranty expires.
