16 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2017

My car has left me stranded twice. It all started when my fuel pump started to leak gas all over my car. Once I got the fuel pump replaced. My vehicle ran fine on my way to the store but when I came back to my car it turned over and let me pull out of my parking spot but then died when I went to put it in drive in the parking lot. I attempted to jump my car but it did not work. I replaced the battery on 10/9/17 and it appeared to solve the issue. On 10/29/17 I drove my car up north to payson. It ran completely fine until I shut it off to go to the creek. When I came back to my car it would not turn over again. I bought a battery and replaced it yet again. This time the battery did not help get the car to turn over the only thing that showed up was an epc light. I left the car over night and came back to it the next day it started up just fine with no epc light. I took it to a repair shop and they were unable to diagnosis anything wrong with the car. I picked my car up on oct 30th. It ran fine with no hesitation up until the morning of 11/10/17. While driving on the freeway my car lost power and would not accelerate. I was able to pull it to the side of the road. My epc light, check engine light, and battery light all came on. The car would not turn over again. I reached out to the dealership and they told me to contact customer care through Volkswagen. When I reached out to customer care all they told me was to go back to the dealership and that they can't do anything for me because the recall is not complete. They have no offer of a loaner car or anything while I wait for them to fix the issue. So I'm left with a car that randomly shuts down and loses power from time to time. This is not acceptable.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2017

Takata recall - there are 3 recalls on my type of car. I have experience one of the serious symptoms of the recall. Please read all. Driver frontal airbag inflator could potentially rupture (due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute high humidity and temperature cycling). 2nd vehicle has had interruption of electrical power, which caused a drained battery and no start condition. [ on certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion]3. Air or other fibers may contaminate the airbag clock spring (a spiral wound, flat cable that keeps the airbag powered while the steering wheel is being turned). This contamination may tear the cable and result in a loss of electrical connection to the driver's frontal airbag.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2017

Nhtsa recall number: 17v509. Manufacturer recall number: 20ae. Fuel pump control module. I heard about the recall in August of 2017 and a letter was mailed to me October 2017 about the recall. It has been almost four months since the letter was received and the parts still are not available for vw to correct this. My vehicle has been losing power while the vehicle is in motion which has almost caused vehicle accidents on several occasions. It is a major hazard and very dangerous to myself and others around me when it happens each time and needs to get corrected ASAP. I'm filing this because the manufacturer (vw) has failed to remedy this safety hazard in a timely manner and they are unable to provide me with a date that it will be resolved. Meanwhile, I drive every day and the risks of an accident increase each and every day due to this problem.

22 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2017

Volkswagen in mt pleasant south carolina had me bring my car in to get a fuel pump replaced. This was back in October of 2017. Volkswagen put a faulty fuel pump in my car and the car no longer runs. I spoke with the general mgr recently and the head tech - they said we cannot do anything for you. I also called Volkswagen customer service and they said its not their problem. They put a faulty fuel pump in my car.

23 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

I started the engine and sat in my car a few minutes before taking off when my car died. I waited a couple of minutes and I started it again, but again it died. The fuel pump control module failed. Luckily I wasn't driving the car. I had to have it towed to my house on a sat evening, then again to the dealer on Monday. Apparently there is a recall on this. Dealer installed another module from the old stock which can fail again. Vw said they would reimburse me but they are waiting until they have a solution. I don't know why I have to wait for them to pay for the damage. I incurred the cost and by the grace of god I am not dead. This is a very dangerous situation when the fuel pump doesn't receive electricity to pump fuel into the system.

24 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/05/2017

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part for the recall repair was unavailable. The contact had the vehicle towed to alexandria Volkswagen (107 w glebe rd, alexandria, va, 22305; 703-684-8888) where it was diagnosed that the main fuel pump and the high pressure fuel pump failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure/issue and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the recall at the time. The manufacturer provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 89,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

25 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2017

My car has lost power on several occasions and have had to buy several new batteries because of this issue. Vehicle safety hotline complaint #11097626. Vw case #180469589. Letter to vw headquarters: good morning shayna s. , yesterday I visited the vw dealership and had extensive work done on my car. At which time I brought up the recall of October 2017. They explained the recall of October 2017 for fuel pump control module will not be resolved anytime soon. I explained the vehicle safety hotline told me the car was not safe to drive because it could cause a fire and to request a loaner. The manager denied my request for a loaner. I am a senior citizen and am very concerned about this situation. I will be forwarding this letter to them in regard to complaint no. 11097629.

26 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2017

After waiting 7 months for a fuel pump control module for my 2012 vw vv, it is still not available. The first recall notice that I checked was 8/16/17. Therefore the work for this safety recall has not been done. Cutrubus motors in layton, ut told me today the replacement part is not available. After nearly 7 months vw has not repaired this safety recall in a timely manner. Frustrating. I had a similar problem involving an takata airbag replacement. When I finally did have an appoint they said they did not have this airbag replacement in stock. I had to come in a second time to get the airbag replaced.

27 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2017

Takata recall. On a daily basis my car loses all electrical power and shuts completely off while driving on a city street, highway and has even happened while turning. It's a tremendous safety concern, as I have to stop in the middle of the road, put the car in park and try restarting. This has caused several car pile ups behind me. Vw stated they are unable to pay to have this recall fixed and stated that I would be responsible for replacing the fuel pump and fuel module. I am not able to cover these expenses. This should be the responsibility of vw corporate to cover and fix this recall.

28 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

On certain vehicles, there could be an interruption in electrical power to the fuel pump control module. This could result in the fuel pump running continuously, resulting in a drained battery and/or a no start condition, or cause a loss of motive power while the vehicle is in motion, which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property.

29 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Cc. While driving approximately 45 mph, there was a significant reduction in engine power without warning. The failure recurred intermittently. Most recently, the electronic power control warning indicator illuminated as the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

30 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

Takata recall - this recall was issued in February 2016 upon which I was told they did not have the parts available. Now, one year and eight months later I'm receiving notifications about bringing my vehicle in to be repaired. The most recent states "this is a serious issue that must be taken care of - defective components can cause the airpag to deploy improperly, shooting metal fragments ant drivers and passengers, which can cause serious injury or death. " I'm concerned that it took nearly two years to resolve this issue, especially given the statement being sent out via postcard. Secondly, now there is yet another recall for something related to the electrical power to the fuel pump module. I have already taken my vehicle in multiple times for a related recall, one that left me stranded and having to be towed before vw ever even notified me. Absolutely unreal!.

31 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/09/2015

The vehicle smells of gasoline all the time and most notably when it is turned off. The smell is strongest in the engine compartment. There are no leaks anywhere and as an afterthought I have changed to premium gas. The dealer changed the fuel pump as a remedy to this issue, but it never fixed the smell. The smell is at the engine compartment and this has occurred for the last year and half -ever since the car reached 40,000 miles and it now has 65,000. The car is getting terrible fuel consumption and I am worried the car is going to self combust at some point while sitting in the garage.

32 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2014

Upon cranking up my car, the "epc and check engine" light both came on simultaneously. I then noticed that the car failed to accelerate even with the gas pedal completely depressed. Then the car stalled. It was slow to crank up again, but the engine finally turned over. When I took the car to the dealership, they told me that high pressure fuel pump was bad. The car is only 2 years old and has taken only 3 long distance road trips during my ownership(less than 6 hours driving on each trip). After researching online, I have found several other vw Cc owners that have experienced the same exact problem. The unpredicted stalling of the car is very dangerous safety issue. What if I had been on the highway when this happened.
