Body Problems of Volkswagen EOS

My daughter was driving on the freeway to work around 5am when her sunroof burst onto thousands of pieces. She stated "it sound like a massive explosion and scared her causing her to swerve her car. " thank god it was early in the morning, on a weekend, and with minimal traffic on the road. She was able to pull over safely, and call me. We have now been dealing with the insurance company that tells us the glass is covered, but safelite tells us they are unable to repair it. The Volkswagen dealership told us their are 2 windows in the us inventory, but not able too locate them. The cost to repair is estimated $2,400. The dealership said this is a very common issue with the sunroofs to burst like this. My daughter's 2007 Eos has less than 100,000 miles on it. Insurance won't total it as nothing is wrong to do so, and other than this window there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car. She can not drive it due to the safety risks of her head being exposed id wrecked, and the car at risk of theft. Please if this happens all the time then why are they not held responsible to replace it? it's just like the leaks on the arms of the hard top that Volkswagenis definitelyaware of, and does nothing about. Maybe the un recalled seals that leak in the roof have something to do with the well known sunroof issues, and strings that dry rot out from getting wet. We have replaced the whole string kit and both arms with seals to the roof already. The dealership larry miller Volkswagen said these should be recalled due to as many as they have replaced over the years. Please help us. My daughter loves her car.

While my wife was exiting off of I-75 approaching the traffic light to turn left, the sun roof exploded into pieces. Large and small pieces of glass were scattered throughout the car. I was driving down the freeway at about 4:00 pm in the afternoon when my sunroof suddenly shattered. I was not near an overpass so nothing could have fallen on it. It was not an overly warm day so I don't think it was the heat. I can only conclude that it spontaneously exploded.

My sun roof shattered while driving on interstate. Glass broke and it sounded like an explosion and a gunshots, then I heard loud wind noise coming from sunroof. Nothing hit my car. It just exploded out of no where.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Eos. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v078000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Also, water leaked onto the front and rear driver's seat when it rained. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and offered no assistance. The contact had not experienced a failure with the air bags. The VIN was not provided. The failure mileage was 26,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

While sitting on a bridge, was hit from behind causing vehicle to slide into another vehicle. The car is totaled but the air bags did not deploy.

I was already parking in my space in front of my house when suddenly instead of stop the car run off passing the concrete barrier and going toward the house . I couldn't stop it, I just drove across the lawn, avoiding to crash first against the brick wall turned right then I went against a ficus tree and the car keep going toward a palm tree so I turned again right but finally was out of control and crash against my neighbor car that was parked. The good think was nobody was there, so there were not injures.

I bought a used Volkswagen Eos on 08/31/2011. Its a convertible, few days after that it rained and the car was leaking from the joint where the hood attaches to the windscreen. The whole car was flooded with water, I had to drain the water out and take the car to the dealer where I bought the car from on 09/09/2011. They said to bring the car back again 09/13/2011. I called them before going to the dealership and said they will call me, I kept calling and finally on 09/19/2011 I dropped the car at the dealership. When I picked the car back, the manager said they have fixed the car, I had the sales person number I called him from the dealership and he said they were not able to fixed the problem and I have to take it to the manufacturer. I will not even a week that I had started facing problems with the car and at the time I bought the car they said they have the inspection done and everything is fine there is no problems with the car. I would like to know if there was any recalls done on this model and if its manufacturers liability to fix the problems.

Roof leaks, possible gasket problems with joints.

By just pushing with my thumb finger on the body of my car I was able to do small dings. The body metal has no resistance and no "memory" . When I push a little on the metal ,the metal stay and does not take back is initial position. The sheet metal body is way too thin. Are there any regulation about the metal thickness?.

I don't think a $38,000 car that is only 3 years old should leak rain in it all the time and the convertible top not work properly - it has been in the shop 5 times in the last 2 months and is currently in the shop fixing a problem that was suppose to be fixed last Friday.
