1 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 04/30/2026

Car randomly turning off/on. Key stuck in ignition, cannot turn off or on. Bouncing from on to accessory mode without user control. Vehicle was taken to dealership, vw north America has not been very helpful. Could have gotten into an accident as this occured in the road turning into a restaurant. No lights came on about this. Dealership has had car for 3+ weeks "waiting for parts". Vw north America does not want to get involved. To kill the engine I had to pull the fuel pump fuse.

2 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 02/21/2025

In an accident I was struck by another vehicle that swerved into my lane at a very high rate of speed. His vehicle struck my car on the drivers side front quater panel just after the head light and continued past the drivers door. Air bags failed to deploy causing injuries to my head and body. In a separate accident, head on collision the airbags failed in the front and side causing bodily injuries. The failure of the air bags to deploy was supposed to fixed in Nov 2022 at the vw dealership with the clock spring recall . I did have that replaced so why did mine fail not once but twice after the clock spring was replaced?.

3 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 02/01/2025

I have the rns510 radio which the NHTSA has received concerns about and there are several tec bulletins in regards to the radio not functioning properly. When this radio goes out due to the need of over priced software update, we loose our bluetooth and backup cameras! backup camera we installed so the drive could make sure they were not running over any small children on the ground and when that element fails and it falls on deaf ears here to make them fix that and their know faulty cameras, is the NHTSA going to take responsibility for the dead child that wasn’t yours so you would be looking as closely for one but if the know faulty system actually worked that child had a better chance of being alive because you can see your surroundings. There is a service bulletin supporting the pictures below. Mine just stopped loading tried to upload the software that I bought from the dealership and bricked the whole system!! it will now drain my battery if the fuse is in. Since this has been neglected to be addressed for many years, I am just wondering who within the NHTSA is being paid off by vw and maybe we need to start writing our representatives hoping for a change because clearly vw knows it’s a problem and it’s been reported.

5 Electrical System problem of the 2016 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 11/08/2022

On 2 separate occasions, I lost transmission service to my 2016 vw Eos. 65k miles. While driving, my rpm increased dramatically, and it felt like the car went into neutral and wouldn't accelerate. I came to a slow, uncontrolled stop on the side of the road. The epc code, check engine light and the gear indicator warning lights were flashing. It was very scary to not have any control of the car. Very unsafe situation. The code reader indicated code u0103 meaning "lost communication with gear shift module". Lp and sons deland FL, repaired the vehicle, citing: remove and replace transmission gear shift.

6 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 08/08/2022

1) the flip up backup camera, yes it is available for inspection. I do have intentions to try and fix it like all the others unless asked to wait. 2) we bought a car with a backup camera for the safety of our 19 year old and others around her after she has crashed her car going fwd, we would hate for her to miss something backwards since she is only 4’10’ 3) yes it has been confirmed by an independent service center, certified by Volkswagen. They confirmed that the wires have broken and a new camera is needed. This is a very common issue. 4) no the component has not been inspected. From reading other ppls comments they do not assist. They have a radio firm up date and they want you to pay for that to fix the glitches. 5) honestly we just purchased the car and when we test drive it the backup sensor showed three dashes, it was turned on to that setting so we have no clue until we tried to change it and had it checked out. But from what I have read this has been going on for years. Not sure when they first started. You can clearly see the red broke off in the black part and while taking the pictures it so fragile another wire broke. It’s not like you can just replace a cable going into the camera like the newer ones.

7 Electrical System problem of the 2014 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 05/03/2022

Clock spring failure causing complete disconnect of all steering wheel electrical components as well as disabling the airbag.

8 Electrical System problem of the 2015 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 01/07/2022

The horn stopped working and the air bag icon warning light came on. The center console display is not working. My biggest concern is that of the steering wheel airbag not deploying in case of an accident. Told that there is a clock spring mechanism inside of the steering wheel that controls these functions and needs to be replaced. Cost is around$400-$600. Trying to determine why this safety feature was not recalled if in fact the air bag system was compromised with a faulty part. Need to know how to diagnose this defective part before I have a technician pull the steering wheel apart.

12 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 05/13/2021

Took vehicle in today to tracy Volkswagen in tracy California to fix my airbag light that came on for passenger side seat airbag. They said there were unable to repair the issue cause Volkswagen discontinued the part. So they said to me that ecs tuning has the part available and they could install it for $537 extra. I thought the airbag system was suppose to be free of errors for the lifetime of the vehicle so why do I put myself and occupants in danger driving with a malfunctioning manufacture part? I hope there is some remedy for this and I am not paying almost another $1000 for this light to be turned off. Hope Volkswagen gets their act together and mind their customers safety of their vehicles. This is unbelievable! hope this gets to Volkswagen and NHTSA does something about this!.

13 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 03/08/2021

Abs and brake lights are on, car shifts into neutral on it's own. Feels unsafe to drive, because of the neutral shift there is no power. I have had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car.

Replaced all four abs wheel sensors. The sensors effected abs system and all emergency equipment such as all airbags srs dealer advised that that this has been an issue with all models in the vw line of products. (gunther vw of delray, florida(.

15 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 11/12/2020

The abs brake indicator light is on and when I took it to a certified euro car mechanic he said that 8 codes showed up for this. He also said that there was a safety recall 45f2 on this. When I took my vehicle to the vw dealership in panama city, FL. They were extremely rude and said there was no recall for this vehicle. They would not tell me if or when the recall was complete, and if it was completed and the same thing is happening, then there is still a problem with the initial recall that was not fixed.

16 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 06/02/2020

While driving the n,d, r, p, s starts flashing. It can cause the vehicle to shift into neutral.

17 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

-air bag - repeated sensor failure, which are disabling the air safety system. - failure of the red led dash display (the red display boards have a history of failure due to 4 defective solder on the circuit board) which makes the operator unaware that doors are not closed and latched, so that the doors open without warning with the vehicle in motion. Also, loss of verification of shift location ( is the vehicle in park-drive-reverse) which can cause the car to move without warning.

18 Electrical System problem of the 2008 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 01/11/2019

Even though the car is in drive it will go down I feel backwards this is going to cause accidents. The electric windows go up and down continuously yes, this is a known issue but they refused to fix this the distraction is going to cause people accidents. This makes texting while driving seem like a safe way to behave.

19 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 11/14/2018

I have a epc light that goes off and on and reduces the power and speed to 10 mph sometimes not able to get going plus engine light also pops on I almost got rear ended because of these lights.

20 Electrical System problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

I have twin daughters that were 17 yrs. Last yr. I am a single mom. I bought this car off a craigslist ad. When my daughter & I went & looked at it I looked to see if it had ever been wrecked it had no report of that. The person that sold it to me said the convertible didn't go down because he didn't have the key, I had no idea that it had 33 complaints filed on it, and it would be leaking water filling the floor boards 2-3"every time it stormed. I also didn't know that the person that bought it brand new was hit by a ice truck who rolled over the top over it, nor did I know that the next person that bought the car had the convertible top blow off on the freeway going 60 mph down the road so her mechanic just glued it closed, nor did I the person I bought it from said it had one owner and it ran really great, I expressed I had to buy two cars & couldn't afford to buy junk or something unreliable, now my daughter is ready to go out of state to college & we can't even sell the car because of all of the complaints filed against the car. We can't afford to get it fixed and had never been sold to us as a decent running car as is. This car is literally falls beyond the lemon law it is dangerous, and I feel we have been taken advantage of in this situation. I don't know what to do about it. But I am in no position to finance another car for my daughter, this vehicle should be taken out of commission.

21 Electrical System problem of the 2011 Volkswagen EOS

22 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 03/06/2018

I took my 2012 vw Eos to them for a clock spring failure which is under a recall. They told me that it did not fall under the recall because they put a dust cover over the clock spring in 2015. I told the that there is no way the mechanic who did the work could guarantee that no debris got into the clock spring during the 3 years prior to the dust cover being installed. I also told them that the feds opened another investigation in oct 2017 for vw not doing enough to fix the problem with the poorly designed part in 2015. I told the manager at the dealership about this and he said there was nothing he could do. He said that when the dust cover was put on they never got close to the clock spring. I told him that they didn't have to get close to the clock spring because debris had already gotten into the clock spring during the 3 years prior to it being installed which compromised the clock spring leading to the premature failure of the clock spring. I don't know if he understood what I was saying or was just blowing me off.

23 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 02/14/2018

The vw safety recall 15v483 - safety recall 69l2 on the clock spring- vw did their "fix" when I took it in 2016, however the steering wheel clock spring went bad (loss of steering control when backing up- also controls steering wheel controls such as cruise control) still- when I contacted vw service they ran my VIN and stated the problem was taken care of under the 2016 recall and it would only be fixed for cost. - obviously it did not take care of it. I took it into a private vendor of german cars who replaced the clock spring - total cost $543. 98 I feel that vw needs to expand this recall as they didn't do enough.

24 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 12/29/2017

As I was backing out of a parking spot on 12/29/17, not quite 3 months after I bought the car, the clock spring failed, which meant no airbags. Since I knew this was previously an issue, I contacted vw directly since the recall was not coming up at the dealership. They told me that the part had been previously fixed in 2016 under the recall, and even though the part failed again in less than 2 years, it wasn't covered under warranty.

28 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 09/14/2016

I purchased my 2009 vw Eos from a dealeriship "as-is" and I have had to replace the maf sensor, throttlebody had to be serviced with in the first year of owning. Oil leaking from engine onto the water pump. Now, the abs and traction electrical system is completely messed up and I can't drive it. Estimation of $2500 worth of work.

29 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 08/15/2016

First thing to go on this car was the clutch pack could hear clanking noise when I was slowing down. . . Had to replace. . Next came the failed injector. . Now the abs unit needs to be repaired they want $2,600. 00. . . . My car has 34,000. 00 miles on it. . . The inside of my doors are peeling. . . They want another $1,000. 00 for that ! . . &the roof gets stuck half way when its really hot!.

30 Electrical System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

I bought the vehicle on 02/15/2013 it only have 10,000 miles on it. Then as soon as it hit 68,500 miles and went out of warranty. I had just had it serviced for the last time under warranty on 6/21/2019 at 67,996 miles. The timing chain snapped and bent all the valves. I had to rebuild the engine. Which coasted a fortune. I saw that their were a bunch of class action suites going on against Volkswagen for similar issue but was dealing with a family crisis that ended poorly and went into a state of depression from the death of multiple family members back to back so I never followed up on it. Now my car is at 80,000 miles and seems to be experiencing electrical problems as well as problems with the cd player it progressed and now all disk spaces say error and I cant play cds. When I could get it working it was fine until turning off the car then opening the door I heard noises from the player when starting the car it says error in all the disk spaces and half the time wont even let me load the disk. This is ridiculous. This car is my biggest regret of my life. Its a night mare there have been more issues but these are the biggest and most recent issues.

The vehicle was taken to a repair shop who was not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was at a stop and upon pressing the accelerator pedal and it did not respond and the contact had to apply force to get the vehicle to pick up speed as the failure was progressing. The contact later experienced the vehicle randomly stalling several times. The contact notified the dealer and they indicated that the mechatronic unit may need to be replaced. The vehicle was to be taken to a dealer to receive an actual inspection and diagnosis to determine the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000. Dyd.

34 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 05/15/2014

The leaking on this historically defective hardtop convertible has caused yet another problem. My vehicle was entirely flooded, and the dealer and manufacturer say it is nearly a total loss. This has been a continual problem since the model was introduced and Volkswagen has declined to deal with it. My particular car can be driven right now, but may stop running at any time due to the water that has seeped into vital parts, such as brakes and engine.

35 Electrical System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 06/26/2012
