1 Engine problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 10/19/2010

The contact owns 2007 Volkswagen Eos. The contact started the vehicle and the low oil light was illuminated. The steering wheel was also extremely tight and difficult to turn. The vehicle was restarted after one hour. The warning light was no longer illuminated and the steering wheel resumed normal operation. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was left with the dealer where the contact was awaiting further inspection. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileage was 38,000.

2 Engine problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 07/19/2009

Volkswagen Eos automatic. Last Thursday August 20th I was making a right turn when the car switched into neutral causing the car behind me to hit the brakes so as not to hit me. My car then switched into drive and lurched forward causing me to hit to brakes so as not to hit the car in front of me. This is the 3rd time since I leased the car on July 19th that the car has shifted into neutral and then into drive. Volkswagen knew of the problem and yet nobody bothered to tell me that the problem might exist. The manufacturer should be required to inform any prospective customer of the problem. Now I have a lease for 3 years and who knows if the problem will be fixed in a timely manner or not. Customer should have the right to return the car and receive back all monies paid if the problem was not told to customer.

3 Engine problem of the 2008 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 06/22/2009

The 2008 Volkswagen Eos' engine suddenly lost power on an interstate highway and luckily, we were able to guide it to the side for safety. We turned the car engine completely off and let it rest for several minutes. It started and we got back on the road and drove directly to a vw service that was closest to us. They saw "faults" of being low on fuel and stated we should fill the fuel tank before it gets to the reserve amount. It has not stopped since we implemented this intervention. However there was an earlier problem with losing the power while driving at freeway speeds that we did not report as it seemed to correct itself within about 60 seconds while driving. Concerns are raised on 2 counts: 1. Is it really about fuel level, when no other car I have ever owned has completely stopped when low on fuel (not empty, low) and, 2. This seems to be a complaint that has been experienced by others before. This makes us concerned about the operation of the vehicle, safety and the risk of accidents.
