1 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 01/13/2019

2009 Volkswagen Eos 2. 0t tsi engine timing chain tensioner failure due defective design. Car did not start and I had to change the engine at my expense. Now I am not sure if the new engine (used) has the new design version tensioner or the old. I have investigated and this is a very common failure. This most engine code is ccta and is used in many vw cars 2008 and up. Volkswagen sent a boletn explaining this failure and change the design of the tensioner on 2012 this failure may cause catastrofic engine failure and destroy it. Vw has not taken responsibility for this issue.

2 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 03/04/2018

Timing chain tensioner system failure I'm reaching out in regards to legal advice regarding timing chain tensioner system failure on my 2009 Volkswagen Eos. While traveling with my two young sons for their spring break, my car completely failed (while in-motion), putting both my life and the lives of my two children in harm's way. The time and resources spent getting my car towed to the mechanic, emotional trauma/stress, and loss in productivity has been a blow for my family- not to mention the cost to repair (which I have yet to receive the invoice). Upon researching the issue, it was upsetting to learn that this was a common problem for Volkswagen- to the point where they've faced litigation on numerous of fronts. There are also reports where vw adjusted their production/manufacturing process in 2012 to address said issue. Yet vw has yet to do what's in the best interest of their consumers that own models prior to 2012. I don't expect Volkswagen to give me a brand new car, but I do expect them to take responsibility for their products. If the timing chain was faulty and they were well aware, vw should be responsible for the cost. This experience has emotionally traumatizing for my kids and I on multiple fronts, and for us to be hit financially is an even more of a slap in the face to my family by the manufacture. Please let me know if you are able to assist/advise. I look forward to hearing from you - - thank you!!!.

3 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2013 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 09/11/2017

The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Eos. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted the vehicle to the right side of the road. The vehicle would not restart and was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain tensioner fractured and destroyed the engine. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that there were no recalls on the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

4 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 09/11/2017

I have a 2012 vw Eos with 75,000 miles, maintained regularly. Last month the timing chain tensioner failed and fell into the engine while it was moving, destroying the remainder of the engine (lost compression on 3 of 4 cylinders, engine replacement was $6,980 with my private mechanic-no used engines are available nationwide so I had to purchase new). There are many complaints about this happening to others on the internet. I contacted vw customer service, who said it was not recalled. There are at least two class action lawsuits about this same issue affecting others and one private lawsuit in NJ. I spoke to an attorney and personal law suit will be too expensive for me. Note also, I called NHTSA in September and filed a compliant over the phone--I added my compliant at that time but it does not appear to be registered on this NHTSA website.

5 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2009 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 05/15/2017

My wife was turning into a parking lot when the engine suddenly made a noise and lost forward power. She was stuck in the middle of an intersection and could have been killed! we spoke to our mechanic and he diagnosed the problem as a failed timing chain tensioner. This caused the engine valves to impact the pistons and caused catastrophic engine damage. We paid $2706. 25 to buy a used engine and $1500 in labor for the installation. Our mechanic said this is very common with this engine and that he see this happen with engines that have low mileage. Our had 80125 when this happened.

6 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 01/22/2017

The 2. 0t tsi engine was made with a faulty timing chain tensioner which will fail and cause the timing chain to break causing immediate catastrophic engine damage putting the driver and occupants in danger because of loss of power and difficulty steering. Fortunately for us, the timing chain tensioner failed while the car was started and parked in our garage.

7 Timing Tensioner problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 11/24/2016

My 2012 vw Eos had a tensioner chain jump 5 teeth with no warning. And now that is supposed to cost my over 4,000$ to repair according to the dealership I had it towed to from my house. I tried to start it and it just wouldn't start. I took it to the dealership, they sold me a new battery, charged me a couple hundred dollars to tell me that this faulty part is what caused it. The car only had about 80k miles on it with very regular servicing and I believe there is a systemic issue going on here. Please assist.

However, I was notified by vw dealers or manufacture about the TSB manufacturer communication no. : tb-15-12-01 component(s): engine NHTSA id number: 10045560 which I was never notified about. I have a $5,300 repair for a $120. 00 dollar part! can you help me with a recall? thank you. Nick buonamia.
