1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2013 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 10/16/2018

I took the car in as part of the takata inflator recall. Everything in the car was working when I dropped off the car. Now the dealership wants $700 plus to repair the horn, ignition lock, controls on the steering wheel that control the volume and menu buttons on the display panel. These items were working when I dropped off the car. Vwoa has stated due to the age of the car and the mileage, these items are not covered under warranty. They were working when I brought the car to the dealership, momentum Volkswagen of clear lake. I dropped the car off on October 16th at 9 am for an 9:15 appointment, they called around 11 am saying the car needed $700 plus to repair the horn, ignition lock, and the buttons on the steering wheel. I wasn't going to pay for it, they were working when I dropped the car off. The dealership contacted management at vw and they said they were not going to pay for it. The service supervisor is calling someone else at the dealership to see about getting the problem resolved. I contacted vw of America customer service at 800-822-8987, talked to kay c. , the leadership team at vwoa said because of the age of the car and mileage, these items are not covered under warranty. So it is my fault that the recall takes over 5 years to get to my car, what if I had been in an accident and died due to shards severing my arteries in my neck and I bleed to death in an otherwise beign accident, while waiting for the airbag to be replaced. If I had not taken the car to the dealership for the air bag recall, my steering wheel controls and horn would still be working. So this free replacement recall is costing me three days without a car, and whatever it costs to repair what the dealership broke. .

2 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2012 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 12/16/2016

Takata inflators: nothing has happened yet, but since the recall says that serious injury or death may occur because of the faulty airbag I am concerned that it has taken so long and we still do not have any indication of when this will be fixed.

3 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Volkswagen EOS

Takata recall - the intial recall for vw was februay 2016. Six months later there is still no replacement or repair available. There has to be more than one company that makes airbag inflators! danger of serious injury or death - should be a motivator to fix this problem.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2010 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 02/09/2016

Takata recall: my call was recalled in February of 2016 for replacement of the air bag inflator. After numerous call to request the new part & after checking in person at the norm reeves Volkswagen dealership (irvine, CA) in November of 2016, they still cannot remedy the situation. The dealership claims that it only receives a few parts each week! they just today (4-3-17) put me on a list and will supposedly call when the part comes in for my make & model. For a life threatening recall situation, this is completely unacceptable!! why didn't they put me on "the list" when I called the prior time? or when I complained in person during my service last November? Volkswagen obviously does not consider this recall a priority. Please pressure them to replace these defective inflators immediately!!.

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

My airbag light came on. The fault was the passenger seat belt buckle stopped working and it was replaced for $361. 98. The part is light in weight and flimsy, unlike the original and the one on the drivers side. Now my airbag light is on again. Now I am told I need to replace the passenger airbag because the inflator is not working. Estimate is $849. I have an extended warranty which does not cover. Is this inflator a takata make in my car? why can't the inflator be replaced instead of the whole airbag? I am driving without any airbags, because when one has a problem, they all stop functioning. The car is unsafe!.

7 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Volkswagen EOS

Failure Date: 08/19/2015

My airbag warning light is on. I have had no accidents and airbags have never been used. Dealer says I need an airbag inflator. They cannot or will not tell me if this is a takata inflator. I need to know before I spend $849. 00 to replace the inflator. I have been driving with no airbags for a year and it is dangerous. Help please!.
