Various software glitches that can lead to anything from cruise control being disabled for no reason to the buttons on the steering wheel becoming not responsive. Audio glitch can sometimes happen where no audio can be heard from the cars speakers, even parking assist sensor sounds. Backup camera flickering is another issue that can happen sometimes. Issues are all intermittent.
The wire from the alternator to the underhood fuse block is not thick enough to handle the current from the stock alternator. This causes the wire to get too hot melting the fuse block at the 30 amp fuse causing headlight issues.

The frame and track of the sun roof has developed a crack. It is available for inspection upon request. Because the frame/track developed a crack in the structural material, I can hear it rattling when I drive, which tells me it is loose. A loose sun roof structural system is not good, as driving on a freeway / highway at a higher speed could possibly cause the sun roof to become detached and fly off of the vehicle, or dislodge enough to distract the driver. Another secondary problem that has happened because of this loose, cracked sun roof track/frame, is that water has now been leaking into the car (possibly causing mold and condensation which has fogged up the windshield while driving) and slippery conditions all over the track/frame. This water drips through the overhead electrical panel, the headliner and down into the speakers. This can cause an electrical shortage in the vehicle, or shock. Water dripping into the car while driving on a rainy day on the freeway, can cause major distraction to the driver in dangerous conditions. The vehicle and sun roof issue have been inspected by the vw dealer, auto shop, and insurance. The vw dealer did tell me they have this issue often for these same models (they were fixing one as I was talking to them) and I have seen lawsuits online for this same issue. The car has never warned me about this issue, there are no warning lamps or messages pertaining to this. Nothing has ever severely impacted the car to cause this problem (it has never been in an accident). Please note, I have not used / opened / activated / operated this sun roof since this issue began back in December 2021. Car insurance has offered to pay for a new headliner, but not for sun roof repair. The lifetime warranty has declined to pay for the repair because water has been involved (even though water is a secondary issue to the initial issue of a crack developing in the sun roof track/frame under normal dry warm conditions).

We purchased our vw Golf tdi (3vw2a7au6fm047598) in January 2015 and have now had to replace the clock spring three times. The first two times were covered under the 69l2 limited warranty(see attached bills) but our car now has 128,000 miles and is considered ineligible. We do not understand why our model year was not included under the unlimited warranty extension as part of the 69l2 campaign. When a major component fails three times over a six year period, there is obviously something wrong with it that has not been addressed. Our teenage son drives the car and it is unsafe to have life-saving components like the airbag and horn fail on a regular basis.
* "starter system faulty", currently the supposedly damaged part has already been replaced * when this fault appears, all the vehicle's electrical instruments stop working, lights, radio, air conditioning, reversing camera, security systems, but the vehicle's engine remains on, this happens a few minutes after starting the car and the cabin. Is above 90 degrees temperature. * part 5q1. 905. 865 is defective under high temperatures. * no, but you can search for information on the internet with the part number 5q1 905 865 and you will find hundreds of complaints from Volkswagen vehicle owners with this same problem. * the warning appears on the dashboard screen and in 3 seconds all the vehicle's electronic instruments turn off but the engine continues to run.

I purchased a vw Golf 2020 on August 18th, what happened to me a week later not only disappointed me but also sacred me. I drove the car on the street at the speed about 25mph, the vehicle suddenly died! I tried to control the vehicle, I stepped on the brake and pedal, it didn't respond at all. It showed "drive mannually' and then several lights were on, epc, engineer checking light etc, lights were off a few seconds later. Fortunately, there were no cars behind me and not on the freeway! at that moment, the car was out of control, I let it move forward then pulled up. A minute later, I restarted the vehicle, it was back to the normal. I drove it to the dealer to find out the problem. I told what happened and also I felt it lack of power, sometime it respond slowly. However, after several hours, I was told nothing wrong was been detect and they could not do anything with it, since the computer didn't tell there were any issues. Also I was told tat a mechanic test drive about ten miles not to duplicate what happened to me. So I had no choice but to drive it home. However, I stopped at the stop side, the vehicle was kind of dead again! my car stopped there and could not move for a few seconds, a guy behind me pressed the honk. I was so sacary that I was afraid of drive home via the freeway! I brought the car back to the dealer again, I told them I don't feel safe to drive it at all unless you figure it out what's wrong with it. I told the mechanic that I used to drive Golf 2011 for five years, my experience told me there are something not right with this car, it lacks of power and doesn't respond properly for gas pedal and I can sense it clearly. However, he said he might not do anything if the computer doesn't tell him what issues it has. I left the car for them to duplicate the problem while driving.

Lost all lights, f16 and f17 fuses and the entire fuse box was melted. Fuses were arcing and shorting internally, but didn't fail. This is a very common issue it seems from researching online, but the dealer refuses to cover this manufacturing defect and major fire safety issue. This happened while the car was parked.
I was riding as the passenger in my vehicle. My foot was burnt by an electrical component that was dangling down underneath the glove box. It was the blower resistor. The blower resistor melted through plastic, then the blower resistor was hanging by wires when it burnt my foot. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
When I turn on the ignition it says on the screen starting system fault please service the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Golf tdi. The contact stated the front passenger seat overheated and burned the contact. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and no failure. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, and they stated the rear passenger door had mildew and mold and it was leaking causing damages to everything electric in the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and they stated the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Sunroof drain reenforcement steel has developed stress cracks. Which has let water leak inside vehicle, onto headliner and down a-pillars saturating front side curtain airbags making them defective. Vehicle can be stationary or operated, it will leak either way. Volkswagen refuses to address issue with airbags and leak saying there is not a safety issue so they wont cover repair which could cost greater than $2,500. Vehicle has also developed black mold between roof and headliner which is hazardous to breath. Technical bulletin #60-17-01(v601701) is the repair instructions for dealership only repair but does not include airbag replace or headliner replacement. I addressed issue with Volkswagen multiple times which they deny any safety issues.

2019 Golf gti se 6mt purchased with 12 miles. Engine randomly stalls in neutral when rolling to stop with clutch fully disengaged after having downshifted to either second or first gear. This has happened (3) times since picking up the brand new car (4) days ago. The electronic display that shows which gear you are in has also reported the wrong gear once (so far). This is an issue affecting *many* 2019 Golf gti owners. Here are some notes of the issue so far: - 6-8-19 @ 1am (131 miles) - no cel - clutch was out and car was in neutral coming to stoplight in left turn lane. Going less than 5mph when car died. Seemed like it happened when the tach was at idle-range. Restarted with button. - 6-8-19 @ 10:56pm (225 miles) - no cel - pulling up to driveway. Car died at less than 2mph going up a very slight hill when clutch was depressed to go into first from neutral. Was going *very slow* when this happened. Restarted with button. - 6-9-19 @ 3:30pm (276 miles) - no cel - brother was driving with me in the passenger seat. Pulling up to stop sign in his neighborhood and he was in neutral with clutch out slowing to a stop and the car softly died again. Restarted with button. - 6-9-19 @ 11:44pm (418 miles) - no cel - driving up a street in a neighborhood going 20-25mph in 2nd gear and the display between my tach and speedo said I was in 3rd and should shift into 4th. When I crested the hill and hit the brakes to slow down for a part of the street that was damaged, the gear displayed switched to 2nd (which is what I was in and hadn't changed). These issues are very well documented by drivers in enthusiast forums such as reddit and Golfmk7. Com. . Read more...
For the past 2+ years, I will have had this car 3 years in Nov. 2019, and for the past 2 yrs+ the dealer has not found the trouble with the driver's side seatbelt sensor coming on for no reason. It comes on while driving, the ldriver's side seatbelt light comes on and the sensor starts beeping - the worst was over a half hour straight while driving home. It has happened on city streets- cannot recall it on highway driving. In the last few months the seatbelt unit was replaced- but the lights and beeping has returned. I am now thinking it may be the seat - sensor. Not the belt. I read/viewed videos that there was a short in the electrical of some people's seatbelt housing, fixed with welds. Most recently it is happening multiple times while driving. It happened 7 times while driving my car from work to the dealer, <10 miles city street drive. It has never been reproduced and I do not think any code was ever scanned. This is my first lease, and as such I only let the dealer tackle it. Still not fixed and now much, much worse, with multiple occurrences and no rhyme or reason to it.
Purchased 2019 gti rabbit edition 6mt. Soon after purchase, vehicle began stalling unexpectedly when coming to a stop when car is in neutral. Has happened when clutch is either depressed or not. Sometimes car has stalled when fully stopped. In this case the car starts idling roughly and shudders before stalling. Car starts up again with no warning lights illuminated. Call has stalled 6+ times since purchase. Car has also exhibited excessive vibration coming from the engine since purchase. Dealers have not really been helpful; they either deny that there is a problem or say that the wheels/tires need balancing, however balancing and replacing the tires did not fix the issue. I am positive this is related to the stalling issues. Also, the gear number indicator sometimes shows that the car is a a different gear than what is currently selected (I. E. , car is in 4th but gear indicator incorrectly shows the car is in 2nd). I have seen that other owners have these same exact issues which means that these are manufacturing defects in the vehicle. This is a safety issue because the car could stall at anytime making it harder to control or stop, especially in an emergency.
Vehicle randomly displays message on hud screen "error: service vehicle. Only leave vehicle in p position" I have only ever had it happen while driving. Everything from 10mph to 80mph. No particular speed seems to trip the error. After a long drawn out ordeal, both the local dealer and vw of America have denied repair even though, this exact issue because it is not included in the 33,168 select Volkswagen Golfs and Golf sportwagens from 2015 to 2018 model years. Yet with all the evidence to include the ecu/tcu logs verifying the problem since its not a "affected" VIN, they will do nothing. The local dealer confirm that this is the exact issue we have been dealing with since July of this year. Most recently I was going through the pharmacy drive-thru and in park when the vehicle began to roll forward which I had to hit the brakes to stop it. Yet with all the evidence to include the ecu/tcu logs verifying the problem since its not a "affected" VIN, they will do nothing.
Electrical system for hatch door stops working. Hatch will not close. Is a common issue and needs to be fixed at the manufacturer's expense.

Key gets stuck in ignition and I cannot turn off the engine.
The sunroof leaks water from all four counters into the vehicle: headliner, seats, carpet and dashboard. Warning signals/errors messages: air bag, traction, engine light. 2500 miles on vehicle purchased 3/18 new. The vehicle was parked in a driveway during a major rain storm.
Tl-the contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Golf. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 18v464000 (steering, electrical system). However, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Volkswagen of cherry hill 2261 marlton pike w, cherry hill, NJ 08002 (888) 486-1840 was contacted and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and were not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. (VIN tool confirms parts not available). I drove the car to a meeting on Thursday evening, Jan 4th, 2018. Parked it in a residential home office parking area in santa fe, nm at 6pm. At 6:10pm another person arrived to the meeting and said she saw flames by a red car. It was my Golf. Several of us went out with pots of water and a hose to contain the fire. Moved the other vehicles away from it to avoid it spreading. The flames came down from the engine onto the ground in front of the bumper. It was smoky and smelt horrible. We were able to contain the fire. When the fire dept arrived they used a special tool to pry the hood open and used the residential garden hose to douse the engine to stop the smoldering and reduce the heat of the vehicle to assure it would not ignite again. The car was assessed as totaled. I just bought it from vw uptown abq. It was a tdi that had the modification for the emissions class action suit.
Clock spring failure in the steering wheel disabled airbag of 2015 Golf.
Lighting check engine . I couldn't pass inspection on my vw due code p0106. Manifold absolute/barometric. Pressure ctrl. Range/performance.
Had to replace the map sensor 3 times in 2 years. Manifold problem. There are no recalls for this vehicle but the problem persists. Had to pay $700 each time to fix.

The epc started coming on, it loses power and sometimes cuts off while I am driving. My speed slows down to 3 miles an hour.
While driving at approximately 30 miles per hour the car came up with an alert of electrical fault stop now and the powertrain shut down with zero throttle response. I was able to pull into the right lane and party into a driveway of a fast food restaurant. I was unable to turn off the car, I got out and pushed it into the parking lot. Eventually the car turned off and after a few attempts I was able to turn it back on. I was in "b" mode (regenerative braking mode) and decided to drive it in "d" (regular drive) the extra 2 miles home. This shutdown offered no warning and no "limp mode", had I been in a busier area this could easily have lead to a crash.
Need to find out if there are any recalls with the vw Golf r 2015 model. Anything related to engine, fuel system, exhaust that would cause a fire.
Charging port failure locked charger handle in place. Could not move vehicle until evse was removed from building. Then car was towed to service center where car's charging port was replaced. Car was stationary, charging on a level 2 evse. Manual override procedure described in owner's manual failed to unlock charging port. ## VIN passed ## vw e-golf sel 2015 ##.
My issue seams similar to a filing last year "10654071". I started the car to leave from work, and I receive nine separate exterior light faults. It affected both the front right, left rear, right rear, side marker lights, and plate light. All stopped working at the same time. There was no warning. And no fuses were blown. I was driving at night when this happened, I was lucky that one headlight continued to work. This made for a very difficul.

I leased the e-golf for about 4 months. I was driving down the street and suddenly car shut down. An error "error:electrical system. Stop!" appeared. Car stopped and blocked the lane. I called vw sos and they connected me to 911. Police officer came and helped me pulling the car to the roadside. The windows and multimedia worked. Tried to press the power button off and turned it on but same error showed. I waited for one hour to tow my car to the dealer. I got car back from dealer 4 days later, in their report stated " checked faults in system, found p0c0100 drive motor a current high. Contacted vw helpline. Vw helpline advised these faults are related to customer pressing start/stop button while driving" , I'm pretty sure I didn't touch the power button when driving. And they " cleared all faults, set basic setting for electric drive and road tested extensively for 90 miles and no malfunction occurred at this time". I like the car's design and still driving the car daily but just really really worry about the safety.
The vw egolf automatically turns itself off when the driver exits the vehicle. Even though the key is left in the vehicle, once the driver exits the vehicle the vehicle shuts down. This is a serious safety concern. You intentionally leave the vehicle on to ensure the cabin is maintaining a comfortable temperature for your passengers. . . Meanwhile, the vehicle shuts down and disables the climate control. You have now left your family members, elderly, children, pets, etc possibly in a hot vehicle with no way to maintain cabin temperature! people, children and pets die regularly from cabin extreme temperatures! please contact vw and tell them to reverse this programing! a driver/owner should have control over this! I'm not aware of any other vehicle in the market that automatically turns itself off when the driver exits the vehicle!.

I had the hatch open on my Golf and started to smell an electrical fire. I seen smoke coming from the cargo light and when I opened the taillight access panel there was a small fire that I immediatley put out. Thankfully I caught it in time and didn't close the hatch and walk away. It could have been much worse. I have pictures I can send upon request.

While driving the vehicle simply shut off. I turned on hazzards, put car into park, restarted, put car back into drive and drove away. This was on the I-35 frontage road and I could have easily been rearended / killed. Happened one other time on the bqe in new york several months prior. After the first incident I was told by the authorized service dept. "probably a glitch, won't happen again. " waiting for a third incident where I'm not so lucky.
