The contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Golf. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic/electronic stability control - esc) however, the dealer declined to repair the recall due to warning light that had illuminated for the abs and esc. The contact stated that the dealer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had experienced a failure, both the esc and abs lights had illuminated. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
When driving over train tracks the automatic emergency brakes engaged and the forward collision detection beeping alarm sounded. This has happened over 5 times since I have owned the car. Many times the forward collision alarm will go off without engaging the brakes, seemingly without cause. Only when passing over train tracks do the emergency brakes bring the vehicle to a stop or to an extreme slowdown. I have a video of the incident if you would like it, but no way to upload on this website. You can hear the emergency brake and alarm going off with nothing in front of my car.

Purchased vehicle brand new from seacoast vw in greenland, nh in March of 2020. In February of 2022 with just 12804 miles on this vehicle I had them check a problem with noisy rear brakes. I was informed that the rear brakes were delaminating and needed replacement for around $800. As this was beyond the 12 month warranty that this charge was not to be covered. After much negotiation I agreed to pay 20% of the parts & labor charge and they would pick up the remaining 80% as a one time goodwill because I was a loyal vw customer. The excuse that was given to me at that time is that I didn't drive enough miles & rust on the rotor caused the delamination. Jump forward to April 2024 I again was told my rear brakes were delaminating and would not pass the nh state safety inspection. The service consultant was very surprised that they had already replaced the rear brakes in 2022! I was again told this was because I did not drive enough. I then called vw customer care phone number that the dealer provided to see if vw would provide some financial relief. The woman who answered the phone was very polite and understood my frustration that brakes would fail after only 12000 miles but after checking with her supervisor informed me that vw would not help with this safety problem. I then asked her if I was the only one who has experienced this problem and she emphatically stated that I was not the only complaint for this problem and even suggested that I keep all of my records for possible reimbursement in a future recall due to the significant number of complaints that vw has had with this problem. This is a severe safety problem that vw is trying to sweep under the rug and needs to be investigated so vw bears the cost of this and not the many customers that have so far had to bear the expense that is an actual design flaw!.
I was almost rear ended because hill hold assist did not disengage quickly. I’ve driven manual transmission for over 40 years and find this hill hold dangerous!.

All 2022 & 2023 Volkswagen gti & r models with manual transmissions are impacted by this safety issue. When making a stop on any amount of road grade/hill, the vehicle brakes fully engage and will not disengage when removing your foot from the brake pedal, or by engaging or disengaging the clutch, or by applying throttle. Upon releasing the brake pedal, there is a programmed waiting period of 2-3 seconds where the brakes remain fully engaged, and the vehicle is unable to move regardless of the driver input. Once the waiting period expires, the vehicle begins an uncontrolled roll-back and the driver is able to engage or release the clutch and apply throttle for forward movement. During this waiting period, after the brake pedal is released, any vehicle input will cause a stall. During this waiting period the vehicle brake lights have turned off so drivers behind you believe you have begun forward movement, and they are likely to rearend your vehicle. If you re-apply the brake pedal, the waiting period resets, and you must go through the 2-3 second waiting period again. This feature creates a danger of entering or crossing traffic because the driver cannot 'time' when they will have the ability to move the vehicle, it also creates a danger of stalling the vehicle on a hill or while entering traffic. While in traffic on an uphill gradient, the feature continually engages the brakes and creates waiting periods; this is the case even on an uphill gradient while on an interstate causing continual extended stops. The feature cannot be turned off by the driver. Vw dealerships are unable to turn off the feature. Aftermarket tuning companies are unable to disable this feature. Please cross check your records as this is not an isolated safety complaint regarding these vehicles. Previous model years had an option to turn on a hill-assist feature that held the vehicle from a roll back. The 2022-2023 model year feature creates a roll back and prevents driver inputs.

Faulty door wiring harness leading driver side blinkers to stop working, windows randomly rolling down, rear collision detector errors, engine start/stop errors.
Vehicle exhibits multiple electrical and systems faults related to the airbags, tmps, abs, etc, as similarly described in 07/26/2019 Volkswagen technical tip 97-1902tt. Vehicle interior and sunroof tray is wet in various places. These issues raise concerns as they relate to safety and drivability. Upon inspection, the plastic sunroof tray is apparently cracked in multiple places as described in 12/06/2016 Volkswagen TSB 2045403 (supersedes v601608 November 22, 2016) and referenced again in Volkswagen update 60c7. According to dealership records, the sunroof tray was claimed repaired per Volkswagen update 60c7. This does not seem to be true.

My shift knob would pop out of place easily almost everyday. One day it popped out of place and when I popped it back in it wouldn’t go into any gear at all. I was stuck on the side of the road until it eventually let me go into 1st, 3rd, and 4th but not 2nd. It took longer for it to even let me into 2nd. My car is also having electric issues. Out of nowhere it’ll say that my front sensors aren’t working. My parking brake also has gone out a few times to where I can’t even safely exit my car worried it’ll roll away. The car had a sound coming from the engine and come to find out a sensor was causing an oil leak and oil was getting on one of my belts. My shift knob also has a crack on it and it’s been there since before I hit 1k miles. My car has been at a vw shop for 2 months with no eta on parts.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Golf. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the hill assist engaged the brake longer while the brake pedal was not depressed. The contact mentioned that the vehicle stalled afterwards. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200.
Forward collision warning malfunction made the safety feature become safety issues. I have to turn it off before I drive. Otherwise it automatically preforms hard break/ stop for no reasons, no matter how how fast am I driving, where and when. Even pulling out from parking lot w/ 5/10 mph at midnight when there is absolutely no one and nothing around or on the middle of the highway w/ 60mph in the afternoon.
Brake booster vacuum line fell off making me run a red light I could not stop the car in time. After getting the car stopped about 100 feet past the light I found that the brake booster vacuum line fell off its made of hard plastic that has become brittle it cracked at both ends. There was no warning lights even after it fell off. The part number of the hose is 130-612-041 I just wanted to let someone know before people start getting hurt. . .

My vw was retrofitted as required to meet federal emission and California standards following the vw emissions scandal related to vw diesel vehicles. My car's engine light is on and the dealer reports it needs a diesel particulate filter. However, the parts are unavailable nationwide. The emissions are now out of compliance.

While in the number 2 lane on the freeway, using cruise control, we approached a semi truck in the number 3 lane. We were moving more quickly than the semi truck and did not change lanes nor did the semi truck. The freeway was straight. The automatic braking system turned on and engaged the brakes when our car reaches approximately the rear axle or is next to the back middle of the semi truck. Brakes engage in the same fashion they do as if there was a hazard in front of us. To be clear, nothing at all is in front of us, just the semi truck to our right.
Under normal operation the release button for the parking/emergency brake can come out and result in the parking brake not clicking into the engaged position. If this were to happen when the car was unattended it would result in the car rolling away and possibly killing or injuring someone.

I don't know what type of airbags they are, I've had to have my clutch replaced, waterpump and thermostat and my heater cores, now my coolant hose has gone out all this in let than 3 months and I have also had to replace, rotors two times in two years it's got to be some wrong I take good care of my car it only have 72686 miles on it.
The "front assist" system on a 2018 vw Golf r is prone to making unsafe abrupt stops in traffic. If a leading car makes an abrupt stop, the front assist system applies instant heavy braking even when the driver is already bringing the car to a smooth stop at a safe distance. This double-braking results in unexpected skidding and risks a rear-end collision with following cars. The manual override to front assist is pressing hard on the gas pedal. This action can't be performed when the driver is already bringing the car to a stop.

I had to brake hard as the person in front of me on the offramp stopped short. I think someone cut the driver in front of me off, or people were just having trouble merging. The anti-lock brakes did not work, the car fish-tailed from right to left. I let up on the brakes and the car straightened out and I didn't get killed but it would have been a bad accident. Thankfully the guy behind me was able to stop. This is a car I bought last week. There is something wrong with the brakes. Even my 10 year old car would have activated anti-lock.
Brakes seized.
Tl -the contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen gold gti. The contact stated that while driving the speedometer failed and went up and down sporadically and the check engine indicator illuminated and stayed on. The contact stated the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The vehicle was taken to dealer stone mountain Volkswagen (3500 stone mountain hwy, snellville, GA 30078. 678-367-4286) who diagnosed it and stated that it needed a new control module, but was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000. Jc.

I drove the car to a meeting on Thursday evening, Jan 4th, 2018. Parked it in a residential home office parking area in santa fe, nm at 6pm. At 6:10pm another person arrived to the meeting and said she saw flames by a red car. It was my Golf. Several of us went out with pots of water and a hose to contain the fire. Moved the other vehicles away from it to avoid it spreading. The flames came down from the engine onto the ground in front of the bumper. It was smoky and smelt horrible. We were able to contain the fire. When the fire dept arrived they used a special tool to pry the hood open and used the residential garden hose to douse the engine to stop the smoldering and reduce the heat of the vehicle to assure it would not ignite again. The car was assessed as totaled. I just bought it from vw uptown abq. It was a tdi that had the modification for the emissions class action suit.
On two occasions, about two weeks apart, the power cut off while driving. The car became very difficult to steer. The alternator light came on. After turning the ignition off and on again once or twice, the car started again, and the light was no longer on. On the first of these occasions, the car was being driven on a city street. It was a minute or two after first starting the car that day. The second was also on a city street. This also occurred just after starting, while turning a corner. On a third occasion, about one week before the above-mentioned two incidents, the epc light came on and power was diminished, but the engine did not cut out totally. This occurred on an expressway, after the car had been driven for some time. After dropping in speed, the engine returned to normal before the car stopped. Both problems would appear to be electrical problems. Vw customer service told me that as there was no light on the dashboard, they could not diagnose the problem. Needless to say, this is a very dangerous problem.

The contact owns a 2015 Volkswagen Golf. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v705000 (engine and engine cooling, service brakes, hydraulic) and was unable to determine when the parts would become available for longer than a month. The dealer and the manufacturer informed the contact to wait until the second notice was mailed to determine when the parts were available. The manufacturer was unable to provide a time frame that the parts would be supplied to the dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall.
Nhtsa recall number:15v705 manufacturer recall number: 23r1 exit ave43, while I tried to turned right for small curved the vehicle was braking. That day I just went to repair my tire I got some nail in my tire I'm not sure that dealer put the air enough or check my tire pressure or not? I just got vehicle 40days and dealer ship not put gap that not over $2000 for my new car but they put vwcare for $2000 for me. Recall for new vehicle incomplete before sold for me I got a report that dealer didn't send that vehicle for repair. First time buyer new car no gap but has vwcare for $2000. I'm asking about recall they not answer my question.
While driving at appox 75 mph in the fast lane of an interstate freeway my 2011 vw Golf tdi shut off. Without warning, the glow plug lamp began flashing and check engine note came on the dash. At the same time the car lost all power and began running very rough. While negotiating traffic in an attempt to pull over (quite dangerous without power and tractor trailers now passing my slowing car) the car shut off taking the power brakes and power steering with it. I was able to safely get off the highway due to the wide shoulder in that area but this would have been another story had this happened in an area with no shoulder or safe pull off. My car has been properly maintained at service intervals and fueled from name brand, high volume filling stations. Vws own tests of my car indicated no fault of my own and nothing amiss in the fuel but rather catastrophic failure of a high pressure pump which displaced metal into the fuel system. This sort of failure is common enough (noted in a simple internet search) and flat out dangerous when it occurs at speed since the car gave no indications that it was going to shut off at speed (and fail to restart without being towed to the dealer). Worse yet, vw is aware of this issue with the tdi diesels but has stopped short of issuing a recall to install new parts that will not fail so soon and without warning. The car was fixed under warranty (car has only 38,000 miles) however they replaced the parts with the same failure prone parts. Web anecdotes from others with similar failures have noted that it happens in hotter areas (90-100 degree temps). This was my experience as well as I was in the middle of a long drive in 100 degree temps.

The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen Golf. The contact stated that while driving 48 mph, the brake pedal collapsed, causing the contact to crash into the median. The contact did not sustain any injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 2,500.
The abs pump & module are defective. Supposedly, a short on the circuit board causes this malfunction and now abs and asr are not functioning. Regular brakes are still working. This system problem seems to be common with vw and is a safety issue.

I have a 2001 vw Golf. I had to have the rear brakes replaced at around 36,000 miles. But the front brakes look like they're brand new. I feel that vw has a serious problem with these cars and won't admit it. I don't feel to safe knowing that the car is only stopping on the rear brakes.
