Two problems related to car stall have been reported for the 2011 Volkswagen GTI. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Gti. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost power. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to hanlees hilltop Volkswagen (3255 auto plaza, richmond, CA 94806, (510) 283-6300) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
While accelerating off the ramp the car stalled and started to shake. It created a very dangerous situation since I almost got rear ended. Besides, being immobilized on the side of the very busy highway is dangerous as well. It turned out that one of the coils have failed and caused car to shake and loose the power. Couple of people that I know experienced the same issues with their vws. In my case they went at 54k miles.
