Car Stall problems of the 2019 Volkswagen GTI - part 1

Vehicle stalls when coming to a stop with foot depressed on clutch.

I have a 2019 Volkswagen Gti 6 speed manual transmission. While I was out running errands to the local food store and hardware store, I came to a complete and full stop at a stop sign. At this time the car was in neutral with the clutch pedal disengaged and the brake pedal depressed. I noticed the car had a soft stall. This happened a total of about 6 times. It is almost as if the car has the auto stop feature that turns the engine off at a full and complete stop but my car is not equipped with that option. I feel as if the engine is the problem because it is cutting off. I also feel it could be the transmission thinking that the car is in a different gear and not enough rpms to sustain that gear. I also feel it could be a vacuum leak which is not sending the right signals to the engine computer or something else. At the time of this happening it was sunny and in mid fifties in temperature.

My 2019 vw Gti-s is equipped with a dsg transmission. I was driving it in manual sport mode on the freeway on Sunday 1 March 2020. After getting off of the freeway and onto the city surface streets, the car stalled when I came to a stop. I thought it was because I had not turned off the engine start/stop defeat feature off but that was not the case. Another 6-7 stalls occurred as I drove the car the few miles back home after dropping off a friend. There were 4-5 previous individual incidents prior to Sunday. On Monday 2 March while I drove the car home on the freeway in stop and go commute traffic there were no problems; however after exiting the freeway the car stalled again 3 separate times after I came to a full stop at the signals and stop signs leading to my home. As far as I am concerned, this is a dangerous situation and I am worried since the principal driver of this car will eventually be my wife. She is often driving on the streets of the san francisco bay area. It is easy to get read ended as the driver in back of you expects you to accelerate quickly away from the green signal light or stop sign after you have stopped. It takes time to shift the gear lever back into neutral or park to start the car again. Since I am putting in the "break-in" miles on the car I have experienced this exact situation and have gotten honked for not moving away swiftly from the intersection as one normally would on the city streets. The Gti currently has 671 miles on the odometer. I am taking the car in to the dealership today and hoping that they will buy it back so I can get my wife into a safer model.

The car is randomly stalling out on me. After reading several articles on the internet I now see this is a known issue. It is currently at my local Volkswagen service center. It happened after my first 10k mike service and has stalled 4 or 5 times in the past two days once on a highway. This is extremely concerning.

Manual transmission car stalls at low speeds and at idle. Happens with the clutch fully to the floor, in neutral, and also while in gear. Car has stalled 3 times in sequence sitting at a red light. Also has stalled after getting off highway 6 times now, each time while slowing for a red light or stopped. Total of 9 or so stalls now. Car is brand new, purchased with 33 miles on it. Now up to about 300 miles total.

Car stalls at slow speeds and when fully stopped. The stall has happened 4 times: twice while moving at roughly 5mph towards a red light, and twice while stopped at red lights. In each case, the clutch pedal was fully on the floor and brake pedal was engaged. It is brand new car and the first stall happened at roughly 160 miles on the odometer. The last stall was at 191.

New vehicle with less than 1000 miles, stalls at low speed without warning. Must restart car to get it moving again. Happens very often with clutch depressed/not depressed, whether in gear or in neutral. Happens in an intersection will eventually lead to accidents.

The vehicle seems to periodically stall when I'm traveling at low speeds, such as in parking lots, or slowing down to take a right or left turn. It has recurred enough (~4 times in 220 miles) to know it is not driver error.

My brand new 2019 golf Gti s 6mt has stalled about 4 times since the purchase of 12/30/19 the car currently has about 86 miles on it odometer. It does not matter whether the car is in gear or neutral, while the clutch is down, the car slowly turns off the engine by itself.

The engine cuts out/stalls when the car comes to a complete stop. No sounds, no signs, the engine just dies. Clutch pedal is fully depressed. It's sporadic and has happened 7 times since I purchased the car on 11/29. Most recently happened before making a left turn across traffic. I am unable to pinpoint any factors that lead to this happening(on a hill, flat, oil temp, stop and go traffic, in gear vs in neutral). I've been driving manual transmission since 1995. It is not driver error. Car was manufactured on 08/19.

My 2019 golf Gti 6 speed manual frequently and seemingly randomly stalls when coming to a stop. Some days the car will not stall at all other times the car will stall everytime it comes to a complete stop. It happens after the car has fully warmed up and will happen at the most unexpected times. The car stalls very gently, no lurching or bucking.

My 2019 vw Gti rabbit dsg is throwing cel light and intermittently stalling asking me to manually start the engine. Been into the dealer 4 times for p050a cel and stalling. Vw says this has been happening to the manuals, not the dsg. The cel light for p050a comes on randomly but the stalling happens most after the car comes to a stop. I thought it was the start stop system but the car asks for it to be restarted randomly.

Had been driving for about 10 to 15 minutes highway driving leading to stop and go traffic. Once out of stop and go traffic, depressed clutch fully and came to a stop at a stop sign. At next stop light, depressed clutch, came to a stop, and engine died / shut off. No dash lights illuminated. Engine restarted successfully and was able to continue driving. This repeated 3x in the span of 10 minutes. Every time car came to a complete stop with clutch depressed, engine died / stalled without dashboard lights. This failure has repeated approximately 15 times over the course of 1 week. The dealer was unable to fix the issue after 2 visits.

When at idle or coming to a stop, with the car in neutral and the clutch pedal not engaged the vehicle will soft stall and require a key turn to start the motor again. This has happened several times on a brand new vehicle. 6spd manual.

I have encountered a serious issue with my 2019 Volkswagen Gti that I purchased in June of this year. The car stalls unexpectedly when the clutch is depressed while coasting low speeds, generally when approaching a stop light/sign or sometimes even while in neutral. This is a recurring issue that started last week when the car had ~980 miles on the odometer. This is a serious safety concern that I am not in the least comfortable with as this has happened in an intersection.

The car stalls when coming to a stop- 0 mph and at idle with clutch in or in neutral. This is happening more often and seems to happen more when the car is warmed up.

The car stalls when either driving very slowly or stopped. I bought it Wednesday, July 10th. It first stalled yesterday, while I was in neutral at a stop light. Today it stalled four more times. Three times in a parking lot and once at a stop light. The car had normal engine temperature. When it stalls it's so quiet and subtle that it's difficult to notice. Each time the vehicle was stationary and in neutral. I entered several issues, as I'm unsure what is actually affected.

The car will shut off when coming to a stop and when moving at low speeds. This happens when car is in nutreal and clutch is depressed 100%. This is a soft shut off and not the same as stalling the vehicle. My car is a 6 speed manual transmission.
