Ten problems related to engine and engine cooling have been reported for the 2019 Volkswagen GTI. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Car is vw golf Gti with six-speed manual transmission. Car has 400 miles from new. While coming to a stoplight at slow speed, with clutch pedal fully depressed and transmission in neutral, engine turned off. The action was so quiet that it was not noticeable. When the light turned green, I engaged first gear and released the clutch pedal, but did not move forward. Only then did I realize that the engine was not running. After depressing the clutch pedal and pressing the start button, the engine re-started immediately and I was able to move off as normal.
I purchased the car as new in tampa, FL on January 17, 2020. The trim level is autobahn, and its transmission is a six speed manual. On three occasions, when slowing to a stop, with both clutch pedal and brake pedal depressed, the engine has died. In two of these incidents the engine did not restart on first attempt, but only on the second try. The current odometer reading is just under 400 miles. The time between these incidents was 2 to 10 days apart. None of these incidents occurred on a thoroughfare. One was on my driveway, whereas the other two were in a store or restaurant parking area. Aside from these three episodes, the car drives perfectly. Two date from the last two weeks of January, 2020, whereas the third was on February 1, 2020.
While driving at low speeds and coming to a stop, the engine may sputter as if it isn't getting the correct air/fuel mixture and shuts off. This is an s trim Volkswagen Gti with a manual transmission and driver assistance package. The incident(s) occurred while in neutral on the three occasions it has happened. The vehicle has 700 miles on the odometer. I believe this to be an engine/electrical system issue.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer has not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 730. Dp.
Tl-the contact owns a 2019 vw Gti s 2. 0 manual. The contact stated that the vehicle driving at 15 mph, the vehicle would experience a loss of power with the contact foot on the clutch pedal. No warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed bw roadside assistance by to the dealer hamilton Volkswagen 2200 NJ-33, hamilton square, NJ 08690 (609) 587-7600 were a diagnosed test was performed and determined that the adaptation ecm needed to be reset. The vehicle is currently at the dealer and a loaner vehicle has been provided. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made ware of the failure and provided the contact with the a case number(190628328) and started a investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000. Ck.
When coming to a stop, and pressing on clutch pedal, car intermittently cuts off power.
Car has under 200 miles. Engine repeatedly turns off once stationary, at stops, such as intersections, yield zones, and freeway on and off ramps with traffic lights or stop signs. The engine turns off without warning or notifications, and has to be restarted by driver. Unknown components/systems. Taken to vw service center, was road tested, and they were unable to duplicate complaint and noted vw corp had advised resets.
Brand new car 6sp manual transmission. The car died when rolling to a stop in neutral twice. This was on my first extended drive in the car after purchasing.
When coming to a stop the car dies ocassionally. I am concerned for my safety when the car dies at a stop. And I cannot move forward without restarting the car. This has happened 10+ times.
