1 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 05/22/2026

I started my car and drove to a local 7-11 on my way to work and could not turn the key to shut the engine off. I proceeded to work and asked my friend to help me. After a struggle he got the key out,and 3 days later parked my car at a clients only to not be able to start the car. My steering wheel locking was random and was afraid it would lock up while driving. Was told at the dealership there was no recall even after I searched and found this to be problem enough that vw extended their warranty.

2 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2016 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 02/06/2026

Nhtsa recall 24v-110 (vw 20uf). The vehicle is in limp mode and experiencing low oil pressure symptoms. It is also subject to recall 24v-110, which identifies a fire risk due to fuel leakage. Despite the safety hazard, the local Volkswagen dealership has refused to perform the recall repair or diagnose the vehicle, stating it is at their 'discretion. ' I am reporting a failure by the manufacturer and the dealer to remedy an active safety defect, leaving me with an unsafe, undriveable vehicle. ".

3 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 11/28/2025

Travel assist is disabled which includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. The warning lights flash on and off, sometimes multiple times a second, sounding a loud beeping each time. It is triggered at engine start and persists through all speeds. I have experienced it 0-70 mph. The flashing lights and associated rapid beeping indicating the failure is extremely distracting while driving. Warning lights and warning sounds are designed to alert the driver to a potential safety issue so ignoring the lights and sounds is dangerous in the event it is a different caution/warning. However, also not ignoring it is dangerous because of the frequency of the warnings which causes the driver to look away from the road. After speaking with the maintenance department at my vw dealership, they indicated that this is a widely known problem that is remedied only with the replacement of the steering wheel. There are several other sensors that are triggered by the same issue I was told by the maintenance department. They are uncertain at this time if it impacts the airbag system which is another potential safety concern. The steering wheel can only be ordered after inspection by the maintenance department and there is shortage and/or back order of the part to fix the problem.

4 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 03/03/2025

This happens at any and all speeds. From what I've heard this is a widely known problem that is remedied only with the replacement of the steering wheel. My steering wheel was already replaced once for a different issue. There are several other sensors that are triggered by the same issue I was told by the maintenance department. They are uncertain at this time if it impacts the airbag system which is another potential safety concern.

5 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 09/24/2024

Travel assist is disabled which includes adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. The warning lights flash on and off, sometimes multiple times a second, sounding a loud beeping each time. It is triggered at engine start and persists through all speeds. It is worse when temperatures are warm outside. The flashing lights and associated rapid beeping indicating the failure is extremely distracting while driving. It will some times ding 20 times in a minute with associated warning display on the dash. Warning lights and warning sounds are designed to alert the driver to a potential safety issue so ignoring the lights and sounds is dangerous in the event it is a different caution/warning. However, also not ignoring it is dangerous because of the frequency of the warnings which causes the driver to look away from the road. Quick internet research and discussions with the dealer show this is a widely experienced issue with this model of car (among others). After speaking with the maintenance department at my vw dealership, they indicated that this is a widely known problem that is remedied only with the replacement of the steering wheel. My steering wheel was replaced when the car was just over a year old. The "fix" was temporary and has now recurred. It took two months last time to get the steering wheel. Despite there being the same issue this time, they suggest a different part. Volkswagen not doing anything to remedy this problem waiting on steering wheel and not permit fix has put this car outside the lemon laws in my state.

6 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 08/05/2024

In March of 2023, I brought my car into service at my local dealer regarding random sos and assistive cruise control errors that were causing my cruise control to randomly disengage, which caused multiple safety incidents where the cruise control would cause me to nearly hit the car in front of me or cause the car behind me to almost collide into me. After more than a year of working with vw and the dealership, there is no resolution available to remedy this situation. I also reached out directly to vw and they're only offering a small cash settlement so I shut up and go away. Again, this car has caused multiple close calls which could have resulted in fatal accidents. I do not feel safe in this car and vw is showing zero remorse in denying claims regarding this car. I have another appointment set for August 22nd, which I doubt will resolve the issue I am having.

7 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 12/10/2023

I noticed a common problem among mk6 Gti owners of the steering wheel messing up, causing many issues such as broken airbags, the horn not work, cruise control stopped, etc. , and since I have the issue (air bag symbol, horn, no cruise control) as well I was wondering what could be done. This happened after a near-accident/close call and when I tried to honk it didnt work. It could've been for any situation and a car horn is very important. That on top of the fact that if I did crash there was a risk of me not even having an air bag. Not to mention the countless inconvenient long drices with no cruise control. I checked the wiring and the wheel/horn is connected properly, and everything else on the dasg works fine. The car has been in a minor accident before and I did take it to a vw dealership for mechanical and body work, so the car should've been fine had they fixed the issue, but the problem is I had zero idea about the recall and I'm assuming they didnt bother to check since I didnt mention, and so the issue was hidden away. I did in fact however call the dealership and call to ask if they perhaps incorrectly ordered a wrong oart or something, but they assured me that the car was handled to their best extent. I doubt fixing the issue would have been a bother, so they wouldve done it had they know. I'm 99% sure this is the recall affecting my car, and I sure would like some help. Thank you.

8 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2024 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 10/10/2023

The component that is failing is the infotainment center. Cruise control fails. Yes available for inspection. The safety of my car is compromised and puts myself and others at risk. The backup camera fails - the infotainment center is glitchy, the infotainment center will disconnect from phone calls while driving handsfree while plugged in via wired carplay (the car cannot do bluetooth for carplay). The infotainment center sometimes is completely unusable - including radio- directions for carplay are not usable - no sound from the radio - no ability to adjust car settings when its in failure mode - including parking controls - driving modes - temputratre controls. The lights are hit and miss - sometimes they won't come when pressed or sometimes won't go off when they are pressed to go off. The problems according to the dealer cannot be reproduced - even though I have videos of the issues. When there is an error code on the vehicle and I have taken it in they say that there are no codes - which is a sing to me that the car is malfunctioning as they say the codes should be there. The vehicle for two days this year would make the information call repeatedly and did this roughly 100 times in two days. It finally stopped the day I went to take it in to the dealer. The dealer replaced the radio after my first week due to infotainment and backup camera issues. The dealer replaced it with a recalled part and it is recorded in my repair orders (ros). They said it was the last radio in the entire us and world and they couldn't replace it again. I didn't find out that it was recalled until October 2025 as I was researching the recalls and reviewing my ros and noticed the same part listed on my ros. I have taken the vehicle in multiple times and they have not replaced or provided a viable solution that fixes the multiple issues. I paid for the vehicle and extended warranty it was $45k. They treated me like I was a nobody when we all are somebody's. Too much to type.

9 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2022 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 09/28/2022

1) yes, the travel assist warning light comes on and says, "trave assist is currently not available. " it then clears the warning and flashing again repetitively and loudly while driving blocking the instrument cluster and distracting the driver. This warning indicator is not accurate as the travel assist functions of the car remain working while this light and ding continue to repeat. 2) the warning light blocks the instrument cluster and continues to flash repedetively as a loud "ding" sometimes 5 or 10 times in a row, which is highly distracting and is a false warning for actual problems the car could be experiencing especially during highway driving. 3) yes, I have video of this and there is ample evidence of other vehicle drivers of the mk8 vw Gti (2022-2025) with this same issue. Some have replaced multiple steering wheels, like I have without a permanent solution and others have started selling an aftermarket klr module to replace the vw one. 4) yes, the vehicle maintains constant annual inspections and is covered still under warranty with vw inspecting the problem. 5) yes, the issue appeared about 6 months into ownership and then has repeated constantly throughout. Somehow vw claims they are not aware of the issue despite the endless online communication on vw forums about this issue and even an entire aftermarket for a replacement klr module. I am only filling this out because vw claims to be unaware of this issue as a larger problem outside of my car despite the endless cases I have found online. They told me that this is the method of informing them, hence my submission.

10 Adaptive Cruise Control problem of the 2012 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 05/09/2022

My air bag light came on. Plus all the controls on my steering column do not work, including the horn. I called the vw dealer. They knew exactly what it was. The clock spring. This happened in early may. I was told the part has been on back order for 6 months. The dealer does not have any cars to give me until the part comes in. I was told 6 other cars have the same problem this to me is a major safety issue. I have to drive my car, and I am not comfortable with that.
