The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen Gti. The contact stated that while driving in a rainstorm, the windshield wiper speed remained at a moderate level while set to the highest setting. Due to the failure, the contact was forced to pull over and wait until the rainstorm had subsided before being able to resume normal driving. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where a mechanic confirmed the failure. The mechanic tested other model vehicles and determined that the failure was present with the windshield wiper. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,200.

My windshield has heavy pitting and small chipping after just 50,000 miles. Looking online in the various vw forums (vwvortex, mk7golf, etc), I discovered this is a common problem with vw now. The glass is thin and cheap. The pitting is very visible when driving into the sun and is visible at night with oncoming traffic. It also causes wiper blades to wear out quickly. This is a real safety issue as it is hard to see under the right conditions.

Every time I use the rear windshield wiper, a cascade of washer fluid seeps on the front passenger side on the floor mat. I've only had the vehicle for 1 month. Also, I've notice every time it rains, the ceiling on my Gti gets very wet due to a leak possibly because of the sunroof. I'll provide a picture when it rains next time. This video shows the same exact thing what I'm experiencing. On the passenger side as well. The vehicle in the video is a 2016, mine is a 2015, but same issue and same location of the leak. . This car has an automatic transmission. When the car is started up, stationary, with parking brake on, I shift into reverse to exit my garage. The rear-view camera swings into position, but the video image sometimes fails to appear on the dashboard monitor. This is an intermittent problem.
I was driving my 2017 Gti on a city street in renton, wa, at 35mph heading east on s 180th street. There were no other vehicles on the road near me. As I am driving, I hear a loud bang and look up to see my sunroof completely shattered. As the sunroof shattered, small pieces of glass continued to fall inside the vehicle, which landed on my head, shoulders and any exposed areas of my body. Had I not had a bill on my hat, the pieces of glass could have entered my eye. I pulled over to the side of the road to inspect the sunroof and the shattered pieces were all intact in their original location and there was no signs of outside influence.
Rear window shattered while stationary under a car port in below freezing temperature. Bought the car band new Saturday. Overnight temperatures were below 0. Sunday (the day after buying the car) the rear window was shattered. Car had a little over 200 miles on it when I picked it up from dealer.
Front windshield has "sparkles" /" scratches" in it. This is extremely visible in the sun and this has been prominent since 10,000 miles. Car ahs 31,000 now. Talked with vw service manger about this issue, nothing has been resolved. I use the same brand cleaners for my other cars and no issues. This is a factory direct problem. Windshield get worse with age.
Windshield seems very weak. Had 3 bad cracks within 6 months (8000 miles) of buying car, driving the same roads I had zero cracks over 4 1/2 year and 60k+ miles in my previous vehicle.
Stock driver-side mirror fell out of mirror housing as I was driving down the highway with my windows down. Glass exploded as it hit my car and debris was sent into the passenger compartment. The event was very loud and startling. Some of the debris hit my face. Large piece of glass found in rear seat. Drivers immediately behind me swerved due to flying debris. There are deep gouges and cuts in the driver side door from the impact of the mirror and debris. The debris had enough energy to penetrate both the clear coat and paint. Glass mirror looks to have failed due to the adhesive backing holding the mirror onto its plastic casing failed. Filed a report with vw of America to explain incident. So far they have not taken action and have only responded by having the incident "documented internally". Exploding glass entering the passenger compartment can potentially get into the driver's eyes and cause a life-threatening situation. Flying debris caused by failed adhesives holding on the mirror can cause accidents for other drivers on the road. Not having a mirror can also lead to impaired situational awareness which may lead to accidents.

The right side rear view mirror is mounted deeply in its plastic housing. When the mirror is properly adjusted, approximately 20% of the reflected image is of the mirror's housing itself, leaving a significant blind spot.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Gti. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, condensation covered all of the windows preventing him from seeing the roadway. The dealer was notified five times and each time the failure recurred. The dealer contacted the technical support department, who instructed them to test a similar vehicle. The test was performed and the failure also occurred on the second vehicle. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5,000 and the current mileage was 10,000. Kmj.

When the front windshield wipers are on in the slow constant (aka 'low' or in the vw owners manual "position 2") and I come to a complete stop, the wipers stop and go to a long delay interval. Once I start moving again, they go back to 'normal'. I find this to be a safety hazard when it is raining hard as it becomes difficult to see out of the windshield when at stoplight, intersection etc. If I turn the wipers on to "high" lever position 3 they will wipe constantly, albeit slowly. This occurs all the time. I have contacted my dealer who says they do not know how to correct this and I have contacted vw who says it is normal and cannot be changed. I find it difficult to understand how semi-functional wipers for a windshield even while the vehicle isn't moving could be considered normal. How else am I to make sure there isn't anything, or anyone in front of me before I move forward.

2003 Volkswagen Gti. During a rain storm, my wipers stopped working and were stuck mid way. The next day I discovered the nut slipped off the bolt connecting the wiper assembly to the wiper motor causing the wipers to stop working while the motor still works.
