Six problems related to vehicle speed control have been reported for the 1998 Volkswagen Jetta. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving the check engine light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the throttle needed to be replaced.
Volkswagenh of America has not been supportive or helpful in resolving these complaints nor have the Volkswagen technicians been able to diagnosis the true problem; they just fix the problem "symptoms". No safety defect listed.
When consumer comes to a stop there was surge inside of engine and vehicle wants to move on its on. Consumer states on one occasion coming out of a parking spot with foot on the brake, vehicle began to move and consumer had to press very hard on brake so she would not move.
Please check into other complaints for possible recall. No safety defect listed.
I have spoken with vw and the dealership a number of times. . No one will help.
While slowing down to approach a curve below 30 mph when the consumers foot is taken off the brake the vehicle surges back to 30 mph. Nlm.
