Airbag sensors malfunctioning at least twice on daughter's Jetta. Just had the faulty wiring under the driver's seat repaired and, a few days later, light is back on with yet another diagnosis for another issue with the crash sensor, potentially. See on this feed that many others have the same issue. Why is vw not issuing a lifetime recall?.
My crash sensor's went off for no reason. There was no accident at all. This is causing an airbag fault light to be on in my car and from what I understand, the airbags will not work now if the light is on. The previous owner of my car had this same fault fixed (with only about 20,000 miles on the odo). There are numerous complaints out there about these same faults on the same cars (mkv Jetta, rabbit/gti). There needs to be a recall to fix this since it is a safety hazard!.
Air bag light comes on and stays on in the vehicle until engine is stopped. This has been going on since I purchased the vehicle back in July of 2007. They've reset the codes, replaced the seatbelt buckle and reset the connectors that have something to do with the airbags and nothing has worked. I've taken it back to the original dealer (where I purchased the car) four times for the same problem and it's still not fixed. I've called Volkswagen of America about this problem and they've done nothing. They suggested I bring it back to the dealership.
