Tracy said the control module for the abs didn't work and they couldn't replace it for me until the headquarters approved it or something about the recall didn't include the control module I can't afford to fix this it's all abs connected that's what the safety call is for safety.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 10/16/2019

The abs module faulting is a known and common problem for these vehicles. Vw has a recall for the abs software-recall #16v913. If your module doesn't crash when the dealer performs the update, which it likely won't, then they do not replace the module. We feel this is a workaround to cover them to not have to replace them. Ours went out this month while I was driving. This was extremely dangerous as I lost steering control and the vehicle kept downshifting below 30 mph on a highway that I should have been traveling 60 mph on. The epc and abs lights came on. When we called the dealer, they agreed to look at it to see if it was the abs module and if it would be eligible for replacement under the recall. It was not covered because they were "unable to perform the software update". This is because of the specific wording on the vw recall. I have read that several other customers have been turned away because of the same thing and left with expensive repairs. They should issue a recall to cover the faulty abs modules all together and not exclude them due to the "software update. " the recall is a play on words to cover them from not being required to replace them. It is strategic and misleading. We called vw and was told it would not be covered also. Here is a web link of other people logging the same experiences. There are others online. People can get killed driving these when they go out. Now we have to pay to a lot of money to get ours replaced by the dealer. Https://urldefense. Proofpoint. . Read more...

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2017

While driving the vehicle all of a sudden starts to beep and the abs light, epc light, check engine light, brake light, and skid control light show. The vehicle sometimes loses the speedometer reading which drops to 0. This sporadically happens, sometimes it'll stay for days and other times it'll go away after 10 minutes and not appear again for a day or two. It seems to be happening more and more frequently. It happens when in motion and when starting the vehicle. This makes it very difficult to drive since the speedometer malfunctions and in the snow the vehicle seems to handle worse than usual and the brake system does not kick in every time. The abs module seems to be malfunctioning.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 40 mph, the vehicle would start to decelerate when depressing the accelerator pedal. 9 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2014

As I was traveling from ft collins back to denver on the i25 freeway going approximately 65 mph when my car suddenly lost power. When I pressed on the gas pedal all I heard was the engine revving but no power. I was able to move my car safely to the shoulder of the freeway by sheer luck of the time of day this happened and then promptly called a towing company.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2014

My Jetta lost power from going 60mph to 35-40 and after a min it shut down on highway. I managed to push it on a shoulder and tried to start again but nothing happened. I towed it away to mechanic and found out that my high pressure fuel pump shattered and released bunch of tiny metal peaces in to the fuel filter and engine. Mechanic told me that it happened because of a design flaw with the pump that vw admitted but haven't done anything about that. So I'm wondering what if a semi truck came at the same time and hit me would they do something about it then?.

11 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 08/12/2013

After returning from a service at the dealer, my 2009 sportwagen instrument warning lights displayed a flashing glow plug light followed immediately by a message to bring the vehicle to in for service. We were four houses down from our drive, and as we pulled into teh driveway, the vehicle shut off and would not restart. It was towed to eth dealer who reported metal debris in the fuel filter indicating a high pressure fuel pump failure and a cost for replacement parts (entire fuel system) totaling over $5000. This is a certified pre-owned vehicle, owned for less than one year. I called and filed a claim with vw USA.

The customer is engineering this part for vw.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2011

Abrupt deceleration to 30mph from 50mph d/t vehicle in front of me hitting their brake and turning. Then I accelerated to get back to the posted speed of 50mph. When depressing accelerator at approx 40mph heard a loud "pop", loss of power, glow light on dash came on and warning. Loss of power with 3 cars coming behind me so I quickly moved to the shoulder and restarted the car. Car turned over but was in "limp" mode - I was less than 1 mile from my house, so I pulled out and "limped" home. Contacted vw on Monday 11/14/11 and my dealership. The car was flat bedded to the dealership and hpfp failure was diagnosed, vw paid in full for complete replacement of entire fuel system.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/26/2011

When starting to move the car such as at a stop sign or at an intersection, when putting the accelerator pedal down to start the vehicle moving, the whole car almost stalls as engine power disappears for a terrifying few seconds. This is very dangerous because you pull out into traffic and expect the car will move forward and not stall. I went onto a vw forum and learned that this is a common problem for vw.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2010

Car stalled while accelerator was pressed. Stall lasted about 3 seconds. Stalling occurs about once a month.

The insurance company contacted Volkswagen and stated that they had no other complaints related to the failure on file. The failure and current mileages were 2,000. The VIN was unknown.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 11/12/2009

When at a stop sign or after applying the brake, there is a long lag before the accelerator will engage. Once when stopped at a stop sign, I let the brake pedal go and engaged the accelerator because there was oncoming traffic. The car rolled into the oncoming lanes and only when I reached the third lane did the accelerator engage. An oncoming large pickup was accelerating away from his traffic light and almost broadsided my car. He apparently didn't see me until almost upon me. This long lag between letting the brake go and pressing the accelerator has happened several times since I purchased the car. The boardwalk vw people of richardson, TX as well as the university vw people in albuquerque, nm said the this was because both the brake and acceleration depended on hydraulic pressure that is shared between them. They also said that they have reported this to vw and vw said that this was designed this way on purpose. I think that this is a very dangerous situation.

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2009

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently hesitate while accelerating from a stop. The contact applied pressure to the accelerator pedal but the vehicle would not respond for a few seconds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times but the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000 and the current mileage was approximately 50,000.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2009

While driving, vehicle transmission disengaged resulting in no power to maintain speed. This occurred twice, once on a rural highway traveling approximately 60 mph and once on the interstate traveling approximately 70 mph. With the first occurrence the transmission re-engaged after a few seconds. With the second occurrence, the "prnds" shift indicator light began flashing and I had to merge over through traffic into the emergency lane to avoid high speed traffic, all the while having no power. I then had to shut the engine off and restart it to clear the malfunction. I scheduled an appointment at the dealer for repair and a sensor(s) were replaced on the transmissions computer. Since the repair I've not had another malfunction. This malfunction poses a serious hazard as one loses the ability to maintain speed in traffic, resulting in a stalled vehicle situation.
