Because of recall, car was not engaged in park completely like it stated after I got out it rolled away down the hill and hit a tree, therefore the recall caused my accident. Yes the problem has been confirmed it is a recall. No it has not been inspected by dealer or police. Volkswagen will not engage in any further investigations they say it's my fault. There were no warning lamps.
Component/system failure/malfunction: ignition switch and starter, possibly transmission yes, available for inspection upon request. Car has randomly stalled while in motion; ignition and starter switch have been replaced as well as microswitch panel - yet problem persists. Power steering shuts down, steering wheel becomes very difficult to turn. Have to put car in neutral, typically, and try to restart while in motion. Has happened over 100 times; replaced alternator as well. Battery was replaced, brand new, yet was drained multiple times - recharged at autozone. Vehicle was brought to larry h. Miller Volkswagen - was advised the problem was fixed, as well as recall repairs (microswitch), paid for the service, went to leave dealership and problem immediately happened again. Complete shut off. Would stay running a little longer while in neutral or ac on. When the vehicle stalls the only light that comes on is the battery light. All other lights and systems work. Ran diagnostic codes through personal mechanic, friend, and dealership. . . Code states "key/ignition/computer" but unsure what specifically. The 2011 Volkswagen Jetta also does not have the original key fob. May be improper programming? continued to research all other recalls, services have been completed and yet the problem persists.
Car keeps turning off while driving and battery light comes on the dash board. Restarts and light no longer comes on until it turns off again. Drives for awhile again and same thing happens. Have changed numerous parts but without anything showing, can't diagnose it. Unpredictable to when it will turn off.
Door unexpectedly does not close and latch correctly. Had to hold the car door the whole time driving. The driver door and passenger door has done it so far. This needs to look into.
Volkswagen Jettas between 2011-2014 received a recall for the clockspring issue that occurs. I just learned that I am experiencing the same issue and my car is the same year and make. Both the airbag light is on and the horn does not work properly which is a major safety risk. Vw said they will not cover the repair however this is a serious safety issue which has clearly been a problem.
It started singing real load and my light for my coolant started blinking red.
The vehicle ignition systems skips and locks the steering wheel. The makes the vehicle stops and disabled.
The vehicle turns off by itself while driving.
This Jetta sportwagen tdi is one of the "diesel gate" vehicles that was supposedly fixed. However, post fix, the vehicle has been at the dealership for repairs more than it has been on the road for various emissions related issues revolving around the exhaust gas recirculation system and diesel particulate filter. Vehicle is washed regularly, including scrubbing of the chaise pipe ends with heavy duty soot cleaning solution. Vehicle takes less than a week to collect enough soot on the tailpipe to cause transference to finger when whipped. This is an indication that an excessive amount of soot is not being properly recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculating system to be rebut in the diesel particulate filter. This also indicates that the "fix" for the cheating emissions system is not doing its job and vehicle is likely emitting particulate and nox at levels far above legal limits.
My passenger air bag light went off on the dashboard and my horn no longer works. This all happened in the same month.
Extended warranty expired 6 months before the event. However, I read it as a recall (it was actually warranty) so I took it in before the warranty expired, there wasn’t a problem with it then so they could not fix it since again it was warranty and not recall. The problem being my horn stopped working. Took it to Volkswagen- they said it was clock spring. Clock spring could also short out my airbags along with other safety issues. Not only am I at extreme risk so are others around me. Obviously it was a problem with others if they extended the warranty. A vw specialist dealing with recall and warranty told me the extension of warranty is different because a recall would mean there’s a safety issue. How is a horn and air bag not a safety issue?!?! unsure of the exact date I noticed however, it was after extension of warranty.
At home while the vehicle was off and stationary, upon removal of the rear bench seat, I discovered severe burn marks under the seat. As well as some coins that have been cemented in place by melted plastic. The burned area appears to be right above the exhaust.
Key getting stuck in ignition while vehicle is still running. . Will not turn off.
2011 Jetta stereo died. Want compensation in check mailed to me for cost of the original stereo.
When I purchase this car 2 days after I purchase the brake light came on flashing the car idles too high what could be wrong with it.
Will not start and stalling when sitting and driving on road no warning lights.
Key gets stuck in ignition and I cannot turn off the engine.
Key stuck in ignition switch in the on position.
The abs module in this vehicle has failed as the abs, traction control, airbag, and brake lights are all on with the brake light flashing. The dealership stated a new module would be needed to have functioning anti lock brakes. In reference to case - NHTSA: 16v913, I believe the same components are the same as the power train did not change between the two vehicles. I am having the same symptoms as stated in this document but there is no recall as of yet.
Ignition lock cylinder abruptly failed. The vehicle would not start at all due to this failure. They key would not turn at all. It worked one moment and immediately stoppedf working. Stranded and had to have the vehicle towed. Tow company had to disassemble shifter to put the vehicle in neutral in order to tow. $645 + for tow and repairs.
I'll turn my car off and wait for the rpm's to go below 1,000 sometimes I'll shift into reverse and my car will kick and then the engine light turns on. I have gone to get the error checked by multiple computers; the same error reads as torch converter circuit malfunction. As I put the car into drive it jumps again sometimes sounding like a spring is doing something weird. When I drive the car the engine revs and does not shift gears. The car moves but is stuck in first gear. I can't go above 59 mph nor do I want to rev my engine at 4500 rpms. I got my Jetta at 66,000 miles and it been doing ever since. My car is currently at 95,000 miles and the problem happens intermittently.
Horn doesn't work and there is no warning light. A vehicle decided to do a u-turn in front of me with no warning. Hit the horn to find it not functioning. There is no warning light to indicate there is an issue. The part that failed is also tied to the airbag system. The part that failed is the clock spring - j527 module as noted in the vw dealer indicating the horn functions but the module needs to be replaced.
I can't get the key out of the ignition and I can turn the car off.
It is a safety issue that the vehicle's horn started weakening out and it stopped working. I did some research and found that other people who owned an mk6 (2011-2015) Jetta had the same issue across the nation. Please enforce the vw to open a recall for this issue.
Key will not turn in ignition on or off.
Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine.
Horn does not work & the ac doesn't blow cold right away.
I cannot turn the key off and remove it or lock my car the engine keeps running.
Key gets stuck in ignition when turning off the engine. Vehicle is always stationary and in and park. This is happened many times over the past five years of owning the vehicle, and is now occurring more frequently.
It's now the 5th time that this happen. The key can't turn off the car! I can turn on the switch without problem, but when is time to turn off will take around 20 minutes to achieve it!.
Vehicle stationary, ignition locked/cylinder lock malfunction while car on, not able to turn car off. Wheel locked while car on. This occurred twice before.
Horn not working can not find fuse diagram anywhere to fix. I do belive that this is a saftey matter. Don't have the money to take to vw dealer. I'am familiar in changing fuses and mechanichly inclined. So why would I need to take it to dealer. I should be able recieve a fuse diagram for my vehicicle id#.
My key will not be allowed to turn the car on. It will go into the ignition, but will not be allowed to turn at all. The car was parked in a parking lot. It had been driven 20 minutes earlier and throughout the day without a problem. A few weeks ago while parked on a city street the car would not turn off.
Car stalls with no warning while driving. Fuel smells permeate the air around vehicle after a few minutes of attempted starting. Vw denies it is a fuel pump issue. The car has been in a shop for over a month with no fix in sight. Yet vw-America denies claim under lemon law.
2011 vw Jetta tdi failed while driving on highway. As car slowed due to traffic, the coil (glow plug?) light came on. When car came to complete stop due to traffic, engine light came on and the car stopped and would not restart. There was no time for me to move to the side of the highway due to traffic congestion so I was stranded in the middle of the freeway. Waiting for CA highway patrol for help, traffic cleared and I was subsequently hit by a car moving at freeway speeds and sustained injuries (ribs, back and neck injuries, and concussion) online, there are numerous reports of other vw cars that experienced the exact same issue (coil/glow plug light, then engine failure). This happened to me on a freeway and the rear-end collision I was subjected to due to car failure could have been fatal. Since this is happening to other vw cars, I believe this needs to be investigated to prevent fatalities. Thank you!.
