I left work to pick up my children 3 times in a short trip the car cut off, it seems as if you don't give gas the car will stall and quit. I have started trying to hold the brake and give gas to prevent from it cutting off at stop lights, the car will also cut off in motion if not given gas. I can't file a complaint everyday but not one day goes by that my car don't cut off.
The car randomly stalls and has being doing so for over a year has been to several mechanics and they cannot fix the problem the dealership has been attempting to fix the problem since 08/30/2017 and currently has the car while I am carless. I have reached out to corporate and the manufacture and they just reply with emails stating they will get back to me.
The key will not turn over! single mom with two kids this is horrible. Jetta says this is an on going issue and they are surprised this has not been recalled! the wheel is locked and you cannot move the key, Jetta estimates about 600. 00 to fix! and should take 7-10 business days! please people complain this should be a recall!.
1) seatbelt indicator sounds when drives belt is connected and is the only one in the vehicle; no one or items are in any of the other seats (same issue as in the 2006 Jetta). 2) wiper motor failed - wipers worked intermittently when functioning. 3) headliner is separating and drooping in rear and obstructing the view through the rear view mirror (same issue as in the 2006 Jetta). 4) ignition coil's and map sensor are continuously failing (same issue as in the 2006 Jetta).
My horn does not consistently work. When I'm driving it only works sometimes due to believed to be faulty electrical. My door locks do not engage. A noise sounds but they do not engage causing safety issue. My wiper blades do not always work correctly nor do they spray wiper spray causing visibility issues. My electrical system is faulty causing one door to stay unlocked unless locked with key. My alarm system does not work. My driver side window does not properly work and will stop in the down position. The same door is having locking issue. There is known recall for other 2011 models on electrical system. I called vw and they said my VIN was not affected by the recall. I'm having the same issues as other Jetta owners with same year make and model and with active recall but vw refuses to fix my car. I could get into accident due to faulty horn, faulty door locks, faulty visibility and wipers that do not work properly. My electrical system is clearly faulty if all of these issues are failing at once. I took my vehicle to firestone and they said faulty computer issues need to be fixed by vw. The vehicle is only 5 years old.
Im experiencing a lot of problems with my car. First of all the lights don't always work they would turn on and off on their own until finally stopped completely. The next problem it has waiting at a stop light it looses power and shakes and stalls. Then I started experiencing the same problem while driving one time I was pulling into my driveway the car cut off and steering wheel locked thankful I was not on the freeway at the time. Then again on the freeway in rush hour traffic I was lucky enough to get over and pull off before it stalled the car putting and I was giving gas but car did not want to go it was not gaining speed it was on the verge of stalling. This is a safety issue its my only vehicle I'm afraid of it cutting off and stalling while driving and a accident occurring. The car stalling is while driving and with foot on the brake or in park. It also has a problem while in park and foot on brake the cars rpm rave on their own.
Involved in a traffic collision resulting in ari bag deployment resulting in received 2nd degree burn to the inside of the right forearm from vw emblem/badging on the steering wheel.
I have issues with the headlights. Every other month my headlight goes out. When I drove off the lot I had one headlight. This has been ongoing for almost 2 years. When I change it the other side goes out. I know thats not normal. And then one day I had been running arrends and made a stop . I was wearing flip flops that day. Well when I went to turn around in my seat to get what was being handed to me from my girlfriend I burned my three little toes ! !!! I immieately went under the steering wheel <dash> and seen it was a pipe not covered. I have had many cars and I have never felt any thing so hot under a dash. I had three blisters. Each toe had a tiny blister. Thats when I seen all the rust everywher or anywhere there is metal is covered with rust. There was a recall on the rear end . I noticed after I took it in that the tires diidnt look even in the back. Driver side tire bows inward on the top side and the other side doesnt. The air bag light well thats always on . . And when I checked the air filter it smelled like it was in an electrical fire . My horn sounds defective. Barely hear it. And the windsheild wiper has aloud noise when operating.
My vw Jetta blows white smoke on start up. It fills my garage with white smoke.
On February 1, 2014 I turned on my car and headed to church at about 1 in the afternoon, everything appeared fine. After church I did the same; however, shortly after I had left the church parking lot the glow plug and battery symbols started flashing and suddenly my engine stopped. Out of nowhere my car stalled in the middle of the road, thank goodness I had managed to steer to the side and that the cars on the road managed to go around me because it could have turned out into a tragedy. I had never had any issues with my engine/battery nor did any of the dashboard warning lights light up prior to this incident. I tried turning my car back on several times but it was unresponsive. The battery and alternator sounded fine but for some reason the car just wouldn't start back up. Could it have been the fuel pump? my car runs on diesel and I have always fueled it with the appropriate fuel without any issues so what now? I had to push my car out of the middle of the road and call a tow service to tow my car home. Over the next week I drove a rental to work and called the Volkswagen dealership and left multiple messages for parts and service and for the person in charge of extended warranty. It's been a week and they have not answered. My car has been out of a warranty now for a while, however I have maintained it and given it the proper care so it does not make sense that a 2011 vehicle would simply stall in the middle of the road without a warning. I am sure that this is a manufacturer's defect and I would like for it to be resolved promptly, I am sure I am not the only one that has had this issue in the past as I have seen multiple complaints online about this and there has even been a few recalls for previous diesel models regarding issues similar to mine.
I have a 2011 vw Jetta tdi (diesel). After leaving my car parked for about a week, it would not start. The battery was fine, so I had it towed to the dealer, and was told that condensate had build up in my intercooler and air intake lines and frozen. The suggested repair was to replace the intercooler, and associated parts, but I had them thaw and drain the lines and took my car home. I am concerned because if the condensate built up in the lines and got into my engine I can potentially throw a rod causing severe engine damage. I asked the dealer about this and they said while unlikely, it could potentially happen. I'd like to know the prevalence of this in the 2011 Jetta tdi so I can make an informed decision about the future of my car.
Standing water in the wheel wells traced to sunroof drainage hoses not attached to drains because the clips meant to hold the hose in place malfunctioned and allowed the hose to "back out" of place. This problem was not immediately apparent as car is usually kept garaged. Body shop, internet discussions and dealership have all reported they believe this is due to a vw design flaw. This is not a result of consumer neglect, mileage or age of car. The carpeting and sound-dampening under pad are to be replaced due to mold and mildew concerns. To repair, the hoses will be reclamped into place. Total repair cost ~$1700. Vw will cover parts citing "part failure," but declines to cover labor costs. Purchase of "platinum" level extended warranty with new car will cover only 1/3 the labor.
Rear trunk light works intermittently.
Very musty smell in vehicle when the a/c is running.
The driver side window does not stay up when automatically rolled up from window button or from locking car using key in driver side door.
2011 Jetta sportwagen tdi: stock entertainment system (rcd 510) went dead. Heard a loud pop, touch screen went black, and all functionality was lot. I consider this a major safety issue in that the entertainment system also includes the hands free phone integration. . Read more...
Car would not accelerate properly, requiring the pedal to be completely depressed to achieve any acceleration even to low speeds. At this point, a brake warning light appeared for the first time. Vehicle was brought to dealer, jim ellis vw in the atlanta area who tested the model and determined the abs module had failed. After replacing the abs module the brakes locked during a test drive by the service staff. Subsequently the brake booster and brake master cylinder were replaced. Owner believes that this early failure of so many components on a newer, very low mileage vehicle likely represents manufacturing defect and could have resulted in serious injury.
Since the end of March, 2014, my 2011 Jetta has completely shut off while in idle. Until recently it has shut off while in drive at low speeds, the vehicle begins bucking and having little hiccups, and then it just shuts off, sometimes able to get it to restart, other times it does not turn right back on. I have already had the fuel pump replaced, and the crank sensor, and have paid hundreds in testing thus far. I am extremely frustrated at this point. The car has been to 2 different dealerships, twice each, and the first time it went in anywhere was a local auto shop, but every time since it has gone to an authorized vw dealer. No one can seem to figure out what is going on with my car. This is a very scary safety issue that needs to be investigated, and reading other peoples complaints it seems I am not the only one who is having issues with their car shutting off.
Hello. There is an issue with my 2011 vw Jetta's ac system. There is an awful odor. It smells moldy and musty(musky). I went to a dealer and they told me to change my air filter and a few other things. It worked for about 4 days and the smell came right back. I have talked to other Jetta and a passat owner one 2012 and one 2013, they also have the same issue. At first my car had a burning smell coming from the system when I started my car and turned the air on. A few minutes later an odor filled my vents. This happened after I purchased my car in 2013. About 6 months later. I have constantly changed the filters and will be getting a new air compressor soon, but. I was told that it may not help the smell from the system. I have been online searching to see if any other vw owners have had this issue and it looks like it is prevalent in vw vehicles from at least 2009-2014. I would have searched more, but there were so many complaints for vehicles made that I was overwhelmed. This was the first car that I purchased myself and I wanted to keep it as long as it would hold out. I am at over 144,000 miles and I love the car. I'm working on changing out components that haven't even messed up yet, because I know they will eventually. I want to keep this car for as long as I can. But, I have tried everything to fix the odor and for me to find out that there is nothing that vw can do to fix it, breaks my heart. Had I know that this was an issue when I purchased this car, I would have never purchased it. Please look into the claims of vw owners on multiple websites. If you need a list of websites, I can send you an email of all of the ones that I was able to find. I also have a car fax for my vehicle somewhere. It states that the vehicle never had any water damage or anything like that to warrant the issue in the ac system. I can send it to you if you need it. Just send an email.
I wanted to follow up on my previous claim. As stated in my previous note, I noticed the odor a few months after purchasing my car. A few years after I got my car, I developed a mold allergy and it was getting harder for me to breathe. The only time the issue occurred was when I would drive my car. So, I had to go to the allergy doctor. They did a few tests and found out I had a mold allergy. A few weeks later, I kept smelling a smell from my ac. I asked a friend to come and check on my air filter in my car. He pulled it out and it was full of mold. He told me that the car was retaining moisture in my a/c unit and that it is probably what is hurting my allergies. With that being said, I have to change my filter at least once a month. One, to make sure that it doesn't mold. Two, so that I can breathe. With that being said, my allergies became worse after I discovered the mold. I had to go back on my allergy shots for awhile. Because my allergies got so bad, even with my shots and other medication, it messed with my breathing. So, I had to have an in office procedure to release some of the pressure to help me breathe better. All of this to say, vw knows that there is an issue with they ac system holding moisture and it making the car have a moldy smell to it. This is dangerous for people with allergies and we should not have to suffer, due to a manufacturers carelessness. I feel as if they should reach out to anyone with affected vehicle owners and figure out a solution to this matter. I love my Volkswagen and I wanted to look into purchasing another one, hopefully an SUV type, in a few years. But, if they cannot fix this issue, I may never look into them again. My health is far more important to me. So, I will begin my search for an additional vehicle, while working on my vw, as well.
We were travelling at 65 mph on interstate 93 approx 5 miles south of exit 11 in hooksett, nh northbound. There was a loud noise like a gunshot. I swerved into the left lane and by the time I got the verhicle under control my wife and I were covered in glass and our ears were ringing. We looked up and the sun roof had exploded out/upwards from the best we could tell. At the time of the incident the car was dry and it was clear out. There was no ice or snow on the roof. The windows were all closed and the sun shade was open. The heat was not on in the vehicle and it was roughly 40 degrees f outside. We immediately got off the highway at the next exit (11) and pulled into a park and ride lot to inspect damage. As expected the window broke outwards, with approx 33% of the glass missing in a hole in the middle, the rest shattered and falling off if you touched it.
38,875 miles - total collapse of the fuel line due to an internal failure of the tank fuel pump (hpfp). Vw dealer inspected and found metal in the fuel system. Vw dealer tested the fuel in my tank and it showed clean diesel fuel with no contaminants. Vw paid dealer to replaced fuel system components & cleaned tank, unit in tank & hard lines. Adapted injectors, bleed fuel by stem and tested. I've retained records, communication, and sample of gas in tank at time of collapse. One problem after another with vehicle.
I purchased a 2011 vw Jetta s sedan on 1/24/2011. At approximately 1000 miles, the car began making a whistling noise from under the dash nearly all the time. I brought the car in for service on 2/16/11 and after a few days, I was told the problem was isolated to the thermal expansion valve in the ac system. This was replaced and the problem was fixed. About 2 weeks later, the sound returned. I brought the car in again on 3/29/11 and again was contacted a couple of days later. The dealer service rep told me that the vw factory tech rep looked at the car and there is nothing wrong with it. His determination is that it is operating according to specification. I contacted vw of America and they confirmed this as the outcome and that if I remain unsatisfied I could call the better business bureau auto line for resolution, which I have also done. This isn't a safety issue, but certainly represents a design flaw that vw is not willing to rectify. The car whistles nearly constantly when the ac system is at operating pressure and temperature. Additionally, the clearcoat sustained damage after less than 48 hours of exposure to bird droppings. The dealership stated there is nothing they can do and the warranty specifically excludes that damage from coverage.
