I know there is a shift lever micro switch recall for the Volkswagen Jetta up to the year 2018. My car is the 2019 model and I am getting the error message for this issue. Can the recall be expanded to include the 2019 model? for now, I am setting my parking brake to keep my car from possibly rolling when I park.
Vehicle parked under the sun, temperature reaching 85 degree, hotter inside the cabin. Vehicle started with no issues but "check starter system" warning comes up and all the electrical component shut off its power, including all the gauge in the dashboard and radio. Headlight is not working as well after few min. Car drives (manual transmission) with no issues. When the car is placed under the shade/cools down, shows no problems. Some of owners reported the faulty ignition switch, part number 5q1-905-865-a. Google search of "2019 Jetta check starter system" results in multiple complaints. The part in question is in national back order, suggesting the issue is more wide spread.
As I was driving on the highway 101 in bay area California, suddenly the sunroof glass exploded and the fragments were deposited on the under cover. No weather related issues at the time. Did not feel any debris hitting the car either. Seems like a manufacturing defect. Vehicle still under warranty.
Unknown.
Moonroof exploded leavin shards of glass all over, no rocks hit car no bumps no explanation, I was just driving on a flat surface around 30 mph, I heard a loud explosion and glass was everywhere including my arms and face. I nearly caused an accident with the sudden explosion.
Like many people have experienced, I was driving on the highway when the sunroof glass suddenly exploded. It was terrifying and the startled reaction could easily have caused a serious highway speed crash. There was no obvious reason for the failure of the glass but having shattered glass fall in my lap was scary.
Unknown. I took my car in for recall repairs and they repaired all but the one listed on this site which seems kind of important.
The heating/air conditioner has failed twice within one year preventing defrost during incliment weather especially rain and frost.
I stopped at a red light and when it turned green the car wouldn't move and the rpm's were hung. I was almost rear ended and stuck in an intersection due to this failure. After getting the car to go about 5 mph without being able to switch gears I was able to pull over to a safer location. I had the car towed to my dealer but they deemed it was a wear and tear issue and blamed bad driving style and cost $3,130 to replace the clutch and flywheel. There were no signs of wear on the clutch and no vehicle indications from the control panel. In addition, the car was brought in for a tire rotation and complementary vw multi-point inspection with no issues cited just a week before this failure.
I have a 2019 Jetta r line series, last year in the winter time the casing for the driver side mirror melted. I went 2 times to Volkswagen, and to other body and paint shops and no one has seen anything like this before? finally I had to file a claim for vandalism. I had to pay $750 to the body shop and it was repaired. All summer, spring, and fall, it was fine. Well it happened again on the same side and almost exactly 1 year later from the first one. Took it Volkswagen after speaking customer service as an elevated evaluation. I was there for 2 hours, the conclusion again is that "it's an outside influence" I have done a lot of research and found that other makes and models have had this happen as well. All the other car makers gave the stock answer "outside influence"! how does this happen twice to the same car. I am on disability, and hardly drive. Right now I only have 8 thousand miles on the car. I go to the supermarket park in handicap and come home and park in handicap. There is something wrong with this car and I'm afraid that something may catch on fire. The only other thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the main heater and defroster for the whole car. It got very cold here and I had to use both the heated and defroster. Now it has almost completely melted. -- leslie osher galeosher@gmail. Com cell: 201 638 4730.
While driving our 2019 Volkswagen Jetta r-line on east on I-40 we heard a loud explosion (like a gunshot) and glass rained down on the interior of our car from the sunroof. We pulled off the interstate at exit 242, to call the arkansas state troopers. They arrived, checked the interior of the car for any object that could possibly have caused the damage and found nothing. They filed an incident report on our behalf d-08121-422 or d-08/21-422. Report will be ready in eight days.
Once I parked my 2019 vw Jetta, the dashboard had "yellow" triangle image. The error message displayed states: only exit vehicle in "p" position. Please service vehicle. I purchased this vehicle from avis rentals and sales in 9/2020. I haven't had an issues with the vehicle and it didn't come with a service warranty. I entered my VIN and it states no recalls; however, I've checked and at some point there was a recall but it looks like my VIN was not entered.
Emergency brake engages while driving the car with nothing else on the road. Door locked on her and she had to climb thought the passenger side door. Received several more malfunction alerts. Took the car to my local dealership (200 mile round trip). First I was told the codes were caused by a non-vw diagnostics computer. Then, they said it was a dead battery in the fob. Then they said it was because the car was filthy. It was snowing and I had just driven over 100 miles through snow on a salted road. Of course it was dirty. But, it was clean when I left the house. They refused to do any work except to change the battery in my fob. I changed the battery in my wife's fob when I got home. I also cleaned the car inside and out. As soon as my wife went back to work, all the codes came back on. When the brakes automatically come on while driving on icy roads, this could be a major problem. Also read about a possible class action lawsuit about the brake issues and more.
Front passenger door panels rattle a lot when playing music. Makes it impossible to determine whether or not the rattling is from the door or some other safety critical component of the car.
After starting the vehicle it simply stalls from the beginning. I have to continuously press the gas petal to get it to go. Once it is running and I come to a complete stop it will stall again when I try to go forward and process repeats itself. Also, once in motion sometimes the engine ( seems like the transmission) seems to slip into another gear. I am petrified to drive the car because of the stalling. I have almost been hit numerous amounts of times. Sometimes from a takeoff position it simply will not go. It is a horrifying experience. I have already reported the grinding noise that the car makes between 20 and 40 miles per hour. I took it to be serviced for the grinding noise and they said there was nothing wrong. They rode with me on one occasion and saw that it stalled but they stated it was because I did not know how to drive that kind of engine. I feel that I am going to die or be seriously injured in this vehicle. I bought this car new and paid cash. No words to say how devastated I am . After all the controversy about the grinding engine, I doubt I could ever even trade it in for new one. Thank you.
Usb connection is really loose and my cord always falls out or looses connection.
Hello on Aug 21, 2020 we purchased a used Jetta from napleton Volkswagen of sanford. At the time we asked if there were any open recalls on the vehicle and the salesperson responded no. We did a VIN search on the vehicle at your web site and we see no open recalls. We called Volkswagen corporate and they confirmed that there are no open recalls. The sales manager from the dealership has been calling almost daily, stating that we need to have the vehicle brought in for service as it is under recall and voikswagen financial will not proceed with the financing until the recall is fixed. I don't undertand why they are saying that there is an unsatisfied recall measure on the vehicle when I can't find such recall. When I asked the sales manager for the recall notice he refuses to provide it. I'm very concerned that that dealer had the vehicle in their possesion, received recall notices, marked them as complete and never actually repaired that vehicle. How I can I be sure that all recalls have not been repaired. When I as for the service history of the vehicle the sales manager says he will provide but has not.
Twice now on city streets accelerating from stops to either go straight or turn left the car has kind of stalled or lost power causing potential crashes with oncoming and rear vehicles.
When I'm driving the car will just stall out of nowhere, then after this happens I would start the vehicle back up and it will cut off.
Interior trim piece below the infotainment center is defective. It bend outward leaving a 1 inch gap between trim piece and the dash. Taken to vw dealer and it is covered under warranty for defective piece.
Firstly, there is some grinding noise that comes from the powertrain/ engine when the car speed increases from 24-35mph. This noise is very scary as if some metal pieces are being scraped together. When I contacted the dealer, he informed me that this normal which definitely isn't. Secondly, the front passenger door rattles when listen to bass heavy music. When reported to the dealer the dealer informed me that is the way how the car door was being built. But this isn't some reason that they would give for a person buying a brand new car. Both the issues where happening since the first week after I purchased my car.
Cars front assist would alarm while driving on road like it was about to hit something then it started saying front assist not available. Sensors are malfunctioning and vw is not covering the cost to fix and telling car owners to turn off front assist when turning car on. Causes car to brake out of nowhere for no reason.
When putting my car in reverse and backing out of a spot brakes make a high pitch ringing. Also, when parked muffler/ tail pipe on the left side, it gurgles as if water is boiling in it. Car is less than a year old.
Sunroof spontaneously exploded and shattered into pieces while moving.
While driving about 70mph on the highway, car in motion, going straight, not turning, I hear a loud pop. The sound was similar to a gun shot. In fact, it was so loud it startled me, causing me to swerve to the left, almost hitting the car in the lane to the left of me. I frantically looked around the oustside of my car, and noticed the sound of wind above my head was loud and then saw broken glass all over the passenger seat. The sunroof had broke, and I know for sure it was no rock or outside cause. It was still daytime, and I never saw anything fly at me. There was not an overpass or bridge to drive under for about 8 miles. So, I know nothing had dropped onto and threw the window. Curious about this, I look up online 'defective broken sunroof vw Jetta 19' and find multiple stories of people having similar experiences. I guess this is happening more often with a lot of makes and models of cars, because the sunroof is a common feature put in cars nowadays and they are larger in size. Also, I found out vw is in court now for older models of their cars having defective sunroof, and they know they were poorly designed but still put them in and sold them with no disclosure to thw customer of the poor quality sunroof. This happened 12/29/19, and as of now the dealership wont fix it. Vw wont fix and claim that their engineers are saying the window broke from the outside, like from a rock. These engineers are concluding this by looking at pictures. They are not investigating my car in person but by pictures sent to them. If one looks at the sunroof of my car in person you can see that the glass has broken up and out ward towards the sky not downward towards the seats, which is what a rock would do. They want me to call my insurance and have them deal with it. This is frustrating and not right of vw. I almost wrecked, so this surely could cause a death or someone getting hurt.
I have a 2019 vw Jetta gli and the car stalled while I went coming to a stop or preparing to turn, even with the clutch pressed and the car in neutral it happens like 5 times per day.
Grinding noise from transmission when travelling at 30-40 mph. Sound is loudest in eco mode. Having the same issue that many others have stated online with the 2019 Jetta, and it sounds like vw is aware of this problem but say it's normal since all of the 2019 Jettas are doing this.
When grabbing things from inside the vehicle through an open window, pushing your body against the door with keys in a pocket may cost the vehicle to think that you are pushing on the door lock button and hence closing the windows when you are retrieving things inside and the windows take too long of a time to sense that something is blocking the windows and hurt whoever is retrieving items.
I'm reporting a potentially dangerous situation with the 2019 Jetta. We traded in our 2016 Jetta which had a complete infotainment voice activated system. I'd say "play jethro tull" and the voice activation would play jethro tull songs. My eyes remaining on the road. Our 2019 Jetta does not have voice activation for music, just for the hands free phone. So, I must take my eyes off the road and scroll through the dozens of folders on the infotainment screen to access the folder which has the song I want to hear. I can scroll through the folder from the steering wheel to get to the song. The 32 gigabyte flash drive has several thousand songs and dozens of folders. So it's a big distraction to scroll through the folders with my eyes on the infotainment screen instead of the road. Why in the world would vw take the voice recognition for music away, and create such a dangerous driving condition?.
When vehicle reaches 30-40mph, there is a loud rattle sound on the driver side of the vehicle. Sounds as if pipes are loose under the hood or under the car. The rattle sound happens during acceleration randomly at any speed. The sound is reduced when in sport mode and does not make rattle from 0 to 30-40mph, but does make the rattle sound during acceleration. During my research I've noticed there are a ton of my same model vehicle that are having the same issue. I took the car to the dealer two weeks after my purchase to have if checked out, the mechanic brushed me off and said it was normal. My brand new car should not should like pipes are loose and rattle during acceleration. Its really embarrassing and I hope this does not cause a safety issue in the future.
2019 Jetta se automatic transmission I have been having issues since I purchased my Jetta in January 2019 it seems like my car has a serious lag. I was driving and went to make a left turn and as I was accelerating out of the turn the car wouldn't go for a little while then it shot off. . I noticed that it does it when I slow down also it have very slow response time with the acceleration. It doesn't it every so often. Maybe about once or twice a week also when the auto engine turn off is engaged the car lags and sometimbes doesn't want to go. . Sometime I have to turn the car off and back on. Or shift it out and back into gears at red lights or drive through I take it to the dealership savannah Volkswagen and they say they can't find a issue or a fix. I honestly don't feel safe driving the car. . Especially with my kids.
2019 Volkswagen Jetta gli 35th anniversary edition 6 speed mt odometer: 408mi built 12/2018 in mexico vehicle intermittently stalls when coming to a stop with no cel. The dealership was unable to recreate or diagnose the malfunction because it's occurrence is intermittent and there are no codes left in the ecm or tcm.
Transmission issue low speed loss torque converter issue.
2019 Jettas with a production date before January 2019 have trunk lids that need to be pushed all the way back or you risk having the trunk lid fall on your head causing possible injury.
While in neutral, the engine shuddered a little and then cut off. This has happened multiple times. Most recently I was stuck in the middle of an intersection while I had to restart my car.
