Car's fuse # 6 keeps blowing which controls the back lights that turns on at night, when fuse blows lights on back go out and cars behind you can't see you and may cause a collision where serious injury and death may result. I think this an engineering flaw where they connected the back lights to other modules in the car, so the short remains and car is not safe to drive at night fuse keeps blowing every time you put a new one in vw is not willing to look at the problem and give me a solution, the short is not in any of the lights on the back of the car, or inside the car, vw is refusing to give me the schematic diagram for that circuit so we can trace the problem, they insist on taking it to the dealer where it is going to be a very expensive fix to track down the short where it is an engineering flaw. Also the air bags warning lights come on intermittently, and seat belts warning lights come on and start chiming while you have seat belts on and properly fastened, do not know if seat belt or airbags are defective which is very unsafe in my opinion, and vw refuses to look at my problem without a hefty dealer charge. Please help.

My first concern is the seat belt warning light will not stop making an alarm noise. My seat belt is plugged in, and the alarm will not stop and the dashboard views it as un plugged as well. Clearly, it was plugged in. I tried to take it out, inserting it back in slow and fast. Neither was acknowledged by the system. Am I even safe??? second, there is some sort of delay while driving. I just purchased the car in December 2015. In March 2016, the car has some sort of delay while I'm driving. Not during deceleration or acceleration. But in the 40 -50 mph range. I realize, maybe it has something to do with the turbo injection. It has started happening again sporadically a month later. . . . ??? please help with clarity on this issue. Is there fuel injection issues with tdi? okw.
Week of April 3rd 2016 (approx thu Apr 7th) my 17 year old son expressed concern that the passenger side, rear seat belt buckle would no longer slide down the seat belt because it was getting caught at a torn spot on the seat belt that was now beginning to fray. We could not use the seat belt the way that it was so he sat on the other side to get home. We observed the seat belt and noted that it was severely frayed approx ¼ of an inch into the edge of the seat belt. The nylon webbing was bunching up and not allowing the buckle to slide down the seat belt. My first assumption was that the seat belt got slammed in the door and may have cut it allowing the seat belt to start to fray. Thinking this was the case we decided to trim the frayed fibers from the belt and use an iron to seal the area by heating it. This worked well and allowed us to continue to use the seat belt but upon further examination we noticed that the frayed area was exactly where the belt stops in the opening in the rear dash, exactly!. We looked at the other two belts, rear center, and rear drivers side and noticed the same fraying occurring in varying degrees of damage, in the exact same locations, right where the seat belt stops in the opening in the rear dash, the exact same spot! I called the dealership, thelen in baycity, mi to ask them to look at the seat belts while the car was in for its 30,000 mile scheduled oil change. I brought the car in on April 29th 2016. The dealership found additional maintenance that needed to be done and told me that I would have to leave the car and that they would have to elevate the seat belt issue to the regional Volkswagen rep. I agreed to leave the car. I returned to pick up the car and was told the seat belt defect would not be covered by vw. I appealed to vw customer service and bbb auotline but have been declined each time.

As I was driving down the road, the seat belt light came on in my dash. My seat belt was buckled in. So I pulled over and unbuckled my seat belt and buckled back up. But it didn't turn off the seat belt light. I did it for a couple more times. Still didn't work. I shut the car down and waited momentarily. Turned it back on. Tried buckling back up to no luck. The whole car ride to work had a annoying seat belt charm. 2013 Jetta gli with 48k miles.

While driving on a city street, my car began to make a rumbling sound, followed by a engine warning message turning on. Within a minute, my car died and would not restart. We towed our 2009 vw Jetta sportwagen tdi to a vw specialized mechanic who confirmed that there were metal shavings in the fuel system that seems to be resulting from a hpfp failure. Mileage was at 131769 at time of failure. (outside of the extended warranty time period for the hpfp issue) 12/21/2012 two faulty rear passenger seat belts were replaced. Airbags had not been deployed and car had not been in an accident prior to seat belts breaking.

When getting my daughter out of her booster seat in our sportwagen tdi, the rear seat belt stopped retracting. I played around to get it to retract, but it still wouldn't, so now the belt is totally useless as it is too loose on my daughter and there is no guarantee it will even work in the event of a crash. I took the car to the dealer today, and they confirmed that there is something wrong with the retracting mechanism in the belt and it must be replaced. He also could tell that the defect wasn't caused by a child jamming something into the belt as it is in a part of the mechanism that is completely sealed and can't be accessed without removing body panels. While I'm thankful this happened when parked, I shudder to think what would have happened to my daughter in the event of a crash with a defective belt. I understand that the safety equipment in a car might need to be replaced in the event of a collision, but the seat belt should be the one piece of equipment in any car that should not just randomly break when the car has never been involved in any incident.
The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the outer case where the seat belt latched was cracked and prevented the seat belt from securing. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the rear seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 51,000. The VIN was not provided.
Rear seat belt housings broken, rear seat center location where two housings are CO-located. One of the two housings does not latch the belt clip rendering this seat location useless as the occupant will not have a working seat belt. Using a caliper the housing in one area looks to measure at 40/1000 of an inch thick. Look at attached photos for damage and method on how damage occurs. When the short seat is dropped and the two seat buckles are now located over under the longer seat back. They are exposed to a metal bracket inside the longer seat back that is very close to the surface of the seat fabric. As the longer seat is dropped the metal bracket located under the surface of the fabric in the seat in my opinion comes in contact with the buckles and has caused this damage. This damage has effected the seat belts functioning correctly.
The contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the driver side seat belt did not latch. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the driver side seat belt needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

I think there is an electrical problem with my car. Since the beginning of this yr 2015 my seats burnt a hole threw the seat and my clothes. I no longer use the heated seats cause I am afraid my car will catch on fire. Also my I have a light go out every time I replace a light. First a head light then a blinker light then a tail light next the licenses plate light and currently another front light. This has been over the last 6-8 mons.
I have 2009 Volkswagen Jetta 2. 5 and I have problems with my cars. 1) all my lights, except for the left side of headlight, are not working. All the lights went out at the same time. I changed the bulbs but still do not work. 2) since lights started to not work, I get seat belt warning signs and alarms even if I am wearing the seatbelts. 3) when I try to wash my front window with the wipers, window washier(liquid) would not come out.
The car presented problems in the month of July. Stopping at a red light the car is completely turned off, also the cell phone charger not working, this happened three times unfortunately not had the time to take it to the dealer. No light at the board of any problem warned. Turned off and turned on the car again and went back to work. I made an appointment with the service department told me to take it on Monday, August 4 at 10:30 am, I waited until 1:30 pm. They didnt give another car for go my job. They said they had called the same Volkswagen and they could not find the problem. They gave me the car without solving the problem because it turns off only they fixed the phone charger. The car returned to present problems on Sunday August 31 at 7:30 pm. I started the car and drive 3 blocks / blocks and turn right the car turned off, I found myself with a CO-pilot. Turn off the car and turned it on like I used to, yes it worked, but it light seat belt and air bags began ringing since we had not recognized belts. Turn off the engine and turned on 4 occasions but the problem was not resolved. I had to be with this annoying noise during Monday (labor day). I come back on Friday 5 September to services department left my car and I need a car to get my job but the didnt want to give me when I told her that explain in a paper that there isnot a car for me she asked me to wait a moment and suddenly I got a 2015 Nissan altima, but could handle only in new york I can not leave this area. I call wolkswagen 800-822-8987 because I want come back my money because the car presents too many flaws that can not be fixed and I will not be a victim of an accident in the future. Please appreciate attention to my order. Thanks a lot.
Driver seat belt latch failure. The driver's seat belt cannot be engaged in the latch, something broke inside the latch mechanism. The seat belt is not functional!!.
My 3 year old son's seatbelt locked around him when he thrust himself forward in his car seat. I attempted to get him out, but he had apparently put the top portion of the seatbelt behind his neck. Any attempt I made to get him out only resulted in the seatbelt tightening more and more. Subsequently, I had to call 911 and medics came to cut him out of the seatbelt.
Rear seat belt, behind driver, not working. Stuck in locked position. This seatbelt is used by a 5 year old child on a daily basis. Other side is used by his 8 year old brother. Seatbelt will not pull out. I took it to vw dealer and they want $613 to repair it. They said a new one is required and that the seatbelt mechanism is within a steel case that has explosives in it. I was shocked to hear this and am stuck without a car because I cannot drive with my children. I have priced the seatbelt out at auto bodyshops and the price is around $425. Still not money I had readily available to dish out. After looking into it I found that this is a common occurance with this make and year of vw Jetta. Something needs to be done about this, it is a life safety issue!!.

Seatbelt on drivers side, back seat, broke (locked in slightly extended position). Vw quoted 380 to fix. Seatbelt used to buckle a toddler in toddler seat (front facing, belt goes over the toddler while latch system holds seat in place. Car has never been in accident and while it has high miles, seatbelt used infrequently as infant seat with latch was in place prior. Given age of car (3 years old), we are original owners, are current with all service the failure of the seatbelt is a significant concern in a family car. Vw forum recommended we report the failure to you- thank you!.
The rear seat belts on the left and right side no longer function. They will not retract or extend and are locked up. They are now unusable.
After folding down the backseat the center seatbelt will not release and does not function. This is a common problem, yet vw has failed to do anything to make it right.
The driver's side seatbelt has started unraveling significantly along one edge, with the threads separating; this has been going on for several months. The car was purchased new and has about 40,000 miles on it.
I am not reporting a type of impact / incident. What I am reporting is a complaint / concern about a manufacturer (Volkswagen) denying a claim I have presented to them for repair / replacement of a rear safety belt. I recently purchased the vw Jetta sportwagen and brought it immediately to a vw franchise dealer for repairs to the seatbelt (the car is 4 years old, so it was my assumption that the manufacturer would repair or replace the safety concern at no cost to me). I have two young children, so the vehicle is not even legal for me to drive in its current condition. Vw has only stated that the car is outside the "standard factory warranty" and refuses to take any responsibility for the safety concern. They have further given absolutely no diagnosis to the problem. I am dumbfounded that a manufacturer can refuse to pay for a safety belt on a 4 year old vehicle. Please let me know if the NHTSA can assist.
The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the rear passenger's side seat belt retraction system failed. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 148,212.
The rear center seat belt is locked and will not release. The vehicle was not in an accident and now the vehicle cannot safety carry 5 passengers. I am sure this is a safety issue and needs to be addressed since the safety system should never fail for any reason.
I pulled the seat belt out to put it on and I heard a noise and the belt went completely slack. There is no tension on the belt.

Traveling at 70mph under normal driving conditions on interstate the roof and seat airbags and seatbelt lockdown on the driver's side spontaneously deployed causing temporary loss of control of vehicle and neck strain. Repairs to fix airbags cost over $4,000. Volkswagon investigated and were no help. Gave no reason for spontaneous airbag deployment. Very unsafe experience!.
The contact owns a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the rear passenger and center seat belts were tearing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to pay for the cost of parts. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 16,500 and the current mileage was 17,608.
Lh rear seat belt and rear center seat belt receptacles can be damaged by folding rear seat into the fully flat position as described in the owners manual. When folded to fully flat position there is insufficient clearance between floor and folded seat backs. Belt receptacles can rub against each other and be broken from having seats in this position. Vw representatives have informed this type of damage is not covered by the factory warranty.
Both passenger and driver's side rear seat belt plastic cover cracked completely through.
Seat belt made noise when putting on and suddenly had no tension. Since seat belt will no longer retract.
Rear passenger seat belts malfunctioned for the rear middle as well as rear door seat. The middle seat belt would not loosen up ie it was taut and the door side seat was completely loose and would not retract. This poses a serious safety hazard and I had to pay independent mechanic to remove and replace seat belt.
Vehicle seat belts fail to release they are fully retracted and will not release to allow someone to wear them. After some research online I found this is a fairly common occurrence, appears to be defective engineering as they will retract past the normal stop point and are then unable to release. We took the vehicle to the dealer and they wanted $1,000 to fix two seat belts in the rear seat, center rear seat and passenger side rear. After some further research on trying to fix them myself I find they have an explosive charge within the retractor and one unlucky individual lost part of his thumb when it exploded in his hand. There is no warning about this explosive device. In summary they manufacture a defective seat belt mechanism with an explosive devise within it and they want an arm and a leg to fix it and you risk loosing a finger if you try to fix it so people are driving around without operative seat belts.
The seat belts buckles are craking in half on my car. The dealer replaced one on the front right of the car. It was totally cracked in half, the plastic cover over the metal bucklet that the strap pass through. The rear buckles are beginning to show the same cracking but they did not replace them because they were not totally cracked in half yet. I think that many parts of the car have to be taken apart to do this work which ruins the interior. I saw other used 2010 cars on the lot that have the same cracking of the seat belt buckle.
Rh rear seat retractable belt froze and was inoperable. When rh rear seat was in the fully flat folded position, the inertia portion of the seat belt located inside the seat back froze and would not release. While there was no passenger and the belt was not buckled due to the seat being folded for use of the cargo space, by freezing the rear seat could not be returned to the normal upright position for passenger use. Seat belt was diagnosed as defective by dealer and replaced under warranty after 1 month delay in part availability.
I was sold a brand new 2012 Volkswagen Jetta without a passenger airbag. Additionally, there were multiple other defects with the vehicle, and by definition, I was sold a lemon. I've tried bringing the vehicle back to the dealership on multiple occasions to repair the problems, and they have yet to be able to correct the issues. The dealership installed a new airbag which has malfunctioned on more than a few occasions, resulting in the airbag light coming on and causing faults in the terminals leading to the tail lights and shorts in the dashboard.
