5 Wheel problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/14/2021

Both my front tires unraveled on separate occasions within a months timeframe on the inside wheel well. I was driving and I heard some loud noise and noticed the tire and when removed there was metal showing all along the inside of the tire and about a foot of unraveled rubber wrapped around the axle. This same thing happened a couple weeks later to the other front tire.

6 Wheel problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/08/2021

Car has 65k on it and has been acting up for at least 10k miles on the following items: 1. The airbag indicator light on dash went on for no reason and I had to pay a diagnostic fee for it to be reset. 2. The radio links to my phone only 50% of the time with a failure notice posted on the monitor. The bluetooth will still work but to connect with my cord to also charge, very inconsistent. 3. The tire dash light is constantly illuminated despite having the tires and monitors checked several times. 4. The back up warning indicator has recently stopped alerting me and I came within inches of backing into a car today. I would like my dash to be error message free and my radio reliably working via my phone cord. I have tried different cords, purchased new tires and monitors, and the same issues continually occur. This all occurs when the vehicle is powered on, does not matter if it is parked or being driven.

7 Wheel problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/30/2020

I bot w/ only 40,000 miles approx. I drive alot. Its about 70,000 now. One tire sensor is out and the person at frirestone said theyll go out again and its hard to know which tire it is. The ele trical is a mess. I finally took it to my mechanic. It is defnitely electrical. This car is not a good value as everything breaks on it and I dont speed and add additives and b\'baby" it. I'm 62. It has to last. But it is not. I see theres recalls for it concerning eleectrical, yet the dealer says no never ha da recall. The night half my lights went out was after thanksgiving as I was traveling the grapevine in cal. I was lucky not to be in an accident.

8 Wheel problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/02/2020

2017 vw Jetta sel was purchased new 11/02/ 2017. From the start, the hankook kntrol m&s 224/45/r17 tires provided very poor control in wet or even light snow driving conditions, in spite of good alignment and wheel balance. By 22,000 miles(07/2020) the tires had become extremely noisy , with a thump, thump noise at low speeds. The dealership where I purchased the vehicle from, did a complete vehicle check in August of 2020, indicated no problem with the vehicle itself and placed the blame on the tires, of which they have no responsibility. Hankook corporate said they have no responsibility, in spite of tires still being within warranty . Reading numerous consumer reviews showed that my problem and safety concerns are shared by many who have oem habkooks. This includes Toyota and Honda owners, for example. My concern is that beyond the 'noise'issue, there is a safety issue. Of the 150 + reviews, a common concern was not just poor performance and very short treadwear life, but a very real safety concern. The safety concern, above all, needs to be investigated by your agency. Thank you.

9 Wheel problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/14/2020

Rear dirverside rotor sheered off causing wheel to lock-up and vehicle to spin-out resulting in impact with curb.

10 Wheel problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/06/2020

On 9/6/2019 I bought 2019 vw Jetta 1. 4 t r-line tsi 16 valve dohc turbo 4 cylinder w/direct fuel injection. Had it back to the dealership the first week complaining about the grinding and growling noises under 40 mph range while driving in city traffic. I was told by another dealership it is normal for 8 speed transmissions. Also said the only way stop the noise is to drive it in sport mod , not good with gas consuption but you won't hear it. While making a u turn and coming out of a drive way into city traffic, it has unpredictable acceleration which really shocked me. I left rubber and the wheels made a loud sound on the pavement. It larched twice and I do not trust this car.

11 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

My airbag light came on a couple months ago. I don't have the money to fix it and the closest vw dealership is about 80miles from here. I don't know if this could be a recall defect or was it something that I did. I do have a child and I don't want anything to happen. I don't go out of town as it is due to my tires losing air and the airbag light being on.

12 Wheel problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

I bought these tires and about 30k miles in there was a shaking in my steering wheel. I had been told the tires were almost finished. I had to purchase a whole new set of tires to resolve the issue.

13 Wheel problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/22/2019

Ever since I purchased my vehicle one year ago, I noticed that my car has trouble starting. It is a push-to-start car, and sometimes it cuts off and I have to push the button to have it restart. It happens during all types of weather, and I've had the batter tested at the dealership and it was in good standing, and they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I've also had to replace the tires multiple times over this last one year of having the car. The first time I had to do that was literally within two weeks of buying the car. Furthermore, the range feature that gives you an automatic reading of the gas gauge is inaccurate. When I fill up the tank if sometimes reads over 300 miles, and then sometimes it reads over 400; and then when the gas is low and nearing empty, it notifies me at 30 miles left till empty but then rapidly drops to 15 or less by increments of 5.

14 Wheel problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/04/2019

I haven't received any notice from the manufacturer on recall 19v188 - rear axle coil springs. I was made aware of the recall via the local news station and was directed to the NHTSA website, where I looked up the VIN on my car and confirmed the recall. I immediately contacted my local dealership mechanic and was informed I would receive a call back with if they had the part and when it could be replaced. 4 days later (today) I get the call and was told that the parts are on back order. This upset me because it is a serious replacement. I drive 500 miles to work on the interstate a week! this is a brand new car, only 6 months old, with a $450 a month price tag (the whole priority for life). I contacted the dealership where the car was brought and was told that cars get recalls all the time and that this wasn't a big deal. Though there was nothing they could do until they could get the parts. This is a serious highway risk and awful customer service, from a manufacturer that claims to always have your back!!!!!!! I could have been better off with a used vehicle. I'm guessing the manufacturer is ok with unsafe vehicles being out on the roadway. If these springs break and I get in an accident, you can be sure that I will contact a lawyer.

15 Wheel problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/14/2019

I was traveling at 40 mph through a city street intersection. My car was t-boned on the driver's side with such force that my car was spun around almost 180 degrees. 80% of the impact was on the driver's rear door, 20% on the driver's door. The side airbags did not deploy, this included a car equipped with side/curtain airbags. I had issues previously with the windows properly working and had all components minus the electrical system replaced on the driver's door and a passenger door. There were a few other oddities at times with the electric system of the Jetta. Considering the force of the impact I suspect an electrical glitch with the sensors or some other problem that prevented the airbags from deploying. The damage was extensive enough that the car was totaled.

16 Wheel problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/03/2019

The wheels fill with snow on the inside and when you go to drive the car it is so unbalanced you can only go 30-40mph. First time drove it to the dealer and they said it was because it sticks on the backside/inside and had to be sprayed out with hot water. That worked for awhile, now trying to drive it today it is happening again. Very unsafe, don't know when it will happen. Minnesota has lots of snow and the only remedy is to find a self service car wash. It isn't the wheel wells, it is the underside of the car. This is a big safety concern, not to mention the inability to use my car. Too cold today, car wash not opened in below zero weather!.

17 Wheel problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/14/2018

Vehicle consistently pulling to right while driving at any speed on any surface street. . Increases at acceleration. Aligned x 4 in 2018, tires balanced, rotated, still same pull. Purchased 4 new michelin tires on 11/5/2018. Vehicle still pulls to right. Vehicle has been in and out of Volkswagen service department. Vehicle at vw service 11/16/2018. There solution is aligning vehicle out of specs to compensate for right pull. When vehicle needs future alignment, my concern is vehicle will start to pull again. Service department should inspect front wheel drive components. Vehicle still under factory warranty and I am paying for portions of unsuccessful "repairs," and enterprise rental car. First dealership service department altered date I brought vehicle in as it is different from date listed on loaner vehicle contract. Same dealership, as confirmed buy second dealership, returned my vehicle as "repaired" with out of alignment printout and clearly not repaired. Neither dealership has, or is, taking the time to properly inspect vehicle to determine cause of consistent right pull.

19 Wheel problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Bridgestone ecopia 205/55r16 tire on front left hand side has a bulge in the sidewall. Vehicle is a 2017 vw Jetta se with 9653 miles. Tire is original. I have no recollection of any event that could have caused damage to this tire.

20 Wheel problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/15/2018

Had to replace wheel speed sensor part wht-003-858 on a 2015 vw Jetta at 17,415, my concern is that I have another 2015 Jetta and had to replace 3 other wheel speed sensor all under 15,000 miles.

21 Wheel problem of the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

The rear brakes create a substantial residue that is noticeable over the side of the vehicle after each drive. The rear brakes sqeak and seem to be worn from the grinding sound yet the discs look fine. The brakes definitely are faulty and the vehicle only has 17k on it. I have also given gone through a tire and soon need to repair another one from side wall damage and it is at the same contact point that the wheels come to meet the outer tire. It is slicing into the tire because of how it lays on the tire. So these all may be related but the rear tires are not right. I have a 1. 8 sel 17alloy wheels with all/season tires. The sounds comenrandomly but not when breaking in an incline or from fast speeds.

22 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

(li no dealer info and how was the vehicle destroyed? was there a crash or not?) tl the contact owned a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the front passenger side wheel rim failed while driving 55 mph. The vehicle encountered a bump in the road and the contact was able to control the vehicle to avoid crashing into the side of a bridge. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that the front passenger rim had disentegrated and was fractured in two locations. The tire rolled away from the rim. The wheel exhibited fractures, which caused the tire to separate from the wheel. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location for further inspection. The contact's insurance company advised that the vehicle was destroyed and would be moved to a different location. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 108,000.

The tow truck driver told me its the vw wheels and they are unsafe.

27 Wheel problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/01/2016

Bought a 2015 Jetta se in September of 2015. Vehicle was only serviced by a licensed dealership in maryland, and had just had it's 20,000 service. Told the tires were fine, and dealer rotated them. While driving in a parking lot at 5-10 mph, the two passenger tires blew out from the sidewall with a loud popping sound. No obstacles, or nails/glass etc. In the road, and nothing was ran over. Tires only had 20,500 miles on them, and were rated 8/32 by the dealer two weeks ago at the service appointment. Upon researching, there are numerous complaints about these tires, made by continental, blowing out on the sidewall. It has happened on highways and caused crashes and injuries, and they should be recalled before more folks get hurt. We were lucky that it happened in a parking lot at a very low speed, and I have replaced all 4 with safe tires for my daughter. Please investigate why this tire has a long track record of bbb and various complaints about the tires blowing out through the sidewall at low mileage for no apparent reason. Volkswagen did not take ownership or replace the tires and continental put us on hold indefinitely. I am out $70 for a tow, and $600 for the new tires but luckily no one was injured, thank you.

28 Wheel problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/09/2016

We have had two rims bend out of shape resulting in flats in the space of three weeks. The first occurred when striking a minor pothole (<1" deep) at low speed, and the other happened on the highway with no apparent pothole or debris. The extreme fragility of the rim makes it appear defective. We are careful drivers and have not had any accidents with this vehicle, and the vehicle has been properly maintained.

29 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/25/2016

This is regards to the toyo tires on my car which are defective and the manufacturer does not agree with that. The beading of the tire are week and there is bubble on the tire. One day I was driving my car on the highway ab suddenly the tire exploded and all the beading is cut but not even a single scratch on the rim or the car. I am hoping this would be addressed and save lives of the people.

31 Wheel problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 10/21/2015

Similar to other reports here, extreme inner sidewall cracking; no indication from outside; approximately 1/2 of usable tread remaining. This affected all 4 tires and was inspected at vw dealer. Hankook communication occurred with determination of tread separation. This is an extremely dangerous situation as it is hidden from easy inspection.

32 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 05/22/2015

At the time of a routine tire rotation, it was noticed the inside of 3 tires were split. One of these splits was significant enough that the tire technician recommended not driving further. The tread on the tires and outside surface was still in good condition. The technician stated there was almost half the regular tread left. It seems unusual to have splits on three tires at once in the same location on what otherwise would still be good tires. This car has not been involved in any unusual accidents or incidents which would have had a negative impact on tire wear. These are the original tires that came with the car.

33 Wheel problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

35 Wheel problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 03/07/2015

I was driving down the street and hit a pothole. It was a very bad hit so I assumed it gave me a flat tire. I did not have a flat tire, the rim completely cracked in multiple places. I understand a rim bending but this severe of a crack is a danger to anyone who has this car or these rims.
