Two flats in 1 week with continental conti pro contact tires both with sidewall issues. Bought brand new 2015 se tsi vw Jetta on 12/28/2014 car had 245 miles on it. On 1/15/2015 I was driving on palmetto park rd when the front driver side tire went flat. Tire had multiple sidewall bubbles, vw roadside came and put a spare on. Next on 1/17/2015 pulling out of parking lot I ran over a rock and back passenger side tire went flat again tire had sidewall issues. Car only has 1000 miles on it.

The dunlop sport sp 01 a/s 18" tires that come as standard on certain trim levels of the vw Jetta gli / gti are defective imo. I am now going to replace the 4th tire in 29,000 miles of driving the vehicle since new from the same / similar issue; bubbles and sidewall defects, and most recently as of today a blowout in the left lane of a 4 lane highway at 65 mph after a minor road impact (did not jar cabin or wasn't particularly severe) 200 miles always from home. Go online to places like tirerack. Com and search the web, there are many complaints of the same thing with this tire and in the approximately 30,000-40,000 miles a year of driving I put on two vehicles combined (in which I average a new car purchase every year and half), only these tires have ever been an issue and vw equips these on both the gli and gti with the same said complaints, while other brands of tires in the same size do not have the complaints like these. I do realize they are lower profile and could be prone to more sidewall damage, but in all honesty they are just not built to practical highway strength standards as I again drive other vehicles in the same condition with no ill tire affects. After today's highway blowout I realize this is a safety issue more than just a nuisance as a less experienced driver may have had an accident. Vw of America could most likely eliminate this by fitting their vehicles with other brands.

Goodyear eagle rsa 205/55r16. During a routine inspection and oil service on my Jetta the technicians discovered tread bubbles in 2 of my tires. I had the mechanic put both tires with bubbles on the rear for safety and I drove the car to a goodyear tire center. They inspected the tires for me and verified the bubbles in the tread. Goodyear tire center then contacted goodyear corporate for me. The tires are less than 5 years old and the car is drven about 1,000 miles per month. Goodyear said that they would olny give $20 off the cost of new tires. I still have more than half the life of the tires left. I feel like they should replace them with new tires because this was a manufacturer defect. The techs at goodyear said that the steel windings have failed and caused the air to expand the rubber in that area. Goodyear eagle rsa 205/55r16 back left tire date code 1612 back right tire date code 3711.

Tires put on the 2014 vw Jetta gli (dunlop sport) from factory are of very poor quality and could cause a blow-out and an accident. First incident with pothole caused a tire blow-out on front passenger tire, but executed a controlled maneuver to pull the vehicle over. Second incident involved no pothole or abnormal circumstances but resulted in a bubble in the sidewall of another tire. Bubble was caught before blow-out incident could occur. These tires are unsafe and there are numerous complaints of this dunlop sport tire scattered across the internet. Nhtsa needs to take action by requiring Volkswagen to replace these tires with tires of better quality that will not develop compromised sidewalls or are at risk to blow-outs. This should be done at no cost to the consumer as vw made the decision to equip the vehicles with these poor quality unsafe tires.

Vw dealer and mechanic admits to driving my car and verifying in person while driving that my car tires are shaking due to the suspension of the car and I should put luggage in the trunk to help smooth the ride or go with a larger wheel size. . I feel very unsafe with family in my car. Electrical issue is a fuse keeps burning out due to an improper ground from both power plugs front and back seat. While driving the passenger door opened by itself while both hands were on the steering wheel.
Tires are michelin pilot hx mxm4, radial xse 225/45 r17 91h original tires from date of purchase 8//10 with actual mileage 14829, for the exception of 1 tire, that was replaced on 9//10 do to road hazard. Presently all 4 tires are showing a sidewall defect. There is a fault, a crack line that runs along a manufacture groove line that seperates the tread from the side wall, this is common on all 4 tires, but with differences of severity in each tire. The front driver side tire caught my eye because of the 1/8 inch crack that is exposing the carcass/or cables when looked at closely.
Vehicle has firestone 205/55r16 tires with 33,865 miles. The rear passenger side tire sidewall split while driving in a residential area at a low speed causing a flat tire. All driving has been routine. There is no legitimate reason for a sidewall to split after only 33,865 miles on it unless it is defective. Currently, the tire cannot be changed by the owner because the manufacturer has installed locking lug nuts and will not provide the special key to remove the wheel. The glove box has a spot for the special key, so the intent is clear that the owner should have a key, but a key will not be given unless additional money is paid to purchase the key. This is a safety issue. If a flat tire occurs, the owner cannot change the tire and therefore, will be left in an unsafe situation.
Driving on freeway. Tpms light came on. When checked, all three tires which were original equipment (hankook optimo) had failed inside sidewalls. These tires had to be replaced. According to your website, there had been a hankook tire recall in 2010 and volkswagon did not advise myself or other customers about the dangers of these tires which a simple google search would reveal has resulted in numerous accidents and potential endangerment of both their customers and other individuals. For the sake of my fellow vw owners, I don't know how to get through to vw that their silence on this matter is dangerous.
Upon research on blogs and reviews the 2006 Jetta has several of the same issues. Car has 54k miles and cv boots are cracked and needing replacements. The headliner dropped while driving impairing visibility of road ways and hinders view out back windows. Drivers side wiring harness.

I was leaving a parking lot that had a slight curve and I hit some black ice. The car went straight into the curb and with the impact, which in my opinion, was not a great amount, caused the side curtain and passenger seat airbag to deploy. With how the wheel hit the curb, it also damaged the alignment of the wheels.
After my last visit with the a/c, I maybe thought that this dealer ship would help me out (vw el cajon) unlike (vw kearny). I had told them what has been going on with this rumbling noise that had started off faint but now is progressively gotten worse and is affecting other parts, because the noise now picks up when turning. They told me they would find it, took it out on a test drive with several mechanics and they all tried to play me and told me they could not hear anything even though the mechanic rep did hear it. Than they did a inspection and could not figure it out it seemed to me because they than just came to a conclusion that my tires where cupped and feathered as vw kearny told me. I asked them if they do multipoint inspections every time I bring my vehicle in and they said yes, than I asked how come you did not catch this before, they could not come up with a answer and just said please sign the paper. So what I did next was took it to several tire dealerships as well as a new vw, all of which told me my tires is not what is making that noise. I really feel like vw is avoiding this issue with me tell my warranty expires to than tell me that there is a problem.

20k service had been performed on my car, again I notified vw that the noise is progressively getting worse and that I can no longer stand it. I also notified them of newer issues that have never happened before starting to happen, but they told me lets fix this issue first before moving on. This noise that had been happening for awhile now has now progressively gotten louder and now making noises when I am turning, something it had never done before. They did a check, and all of the sudden told me that my tires is the cause of the whole thing. They had told me my tires are cupped and feathered, which seem pretty odd considering when I purchased the vehicle the tire where brand new and pretty good (hankook). It did not make sense to me because if it was my tires and if they were doing proper multipurpose inspections they would have caught this when rotating my tires. It really seemed like they couldn't figure it out so they just advised me to buy some brand new tires, or try to call the manufacture about replacements, well I did that and hankook said feathered tires has nothing to do with tire but with the mechanics of the car. They had notified me that the only way tires get bad is if the mechanics of the car. The manger word for word told me this "there is a reasno why your car is so cheap, maybe you should buy $2,000. 00 tires, maybe the noise might go away", which infuriated me, because he is suppose to be the manager, but yet treats me with total disrespect and told me "we are done with this, we will not look into it anymore". This manager was rude and down right wrong to treat me like so (kearny messa vw, don't ever go there). I felt lost and scared knowing that they won't help me no more even though I still have my warranty.
Once again I had to waste more school time and gas money, after my last 20k visit on my car the noise was driving me more and more insane, I tried ignoring the issue and turning the music up, but the noise had started to progressively getting to the point where I could here it even with music on, than on top of that I started to hear new and unusual noise that had never occurred before, I started to hear sporadic high pitch noises from the center console when I was at high rpm's or whenever hitting on the gas, it would start off low pitch than high pitch, than would rattle, the noise sounded like it was coming from the engine. I had shown the same technician a video recording of it, and he was baffled he also even heard the noise himself. I also notified them that when driving at high speeds it would sound like a door was open, even my guest I have had in it complained to me that it sounds like the doors are open. The service rep tried treating me like a fool and rolled my back window down a little than brought me outside and said this is why you are hearing the wind noise, and I had told her I was watching you the entire time you had rolled the window down, and than she tried to tell me she didn't even though I watched her do it, this place treated me like I was crazy, and disrespected me in-front me , and I also noted that some rubber seals were coming off the door edges, which should not be happening, making me feel like this car wasn't well put together and could run into possible future issues. Once again vw told me that there is nothing wrong with my car you are just hearing stuff, and kicked me out the door with no explanation at all.
Just had been a little over 2 months, before I started to hear and notice a unusual noise coming from the front driver side of my car. I started to hear a constant rumbling, grinding noise while driving. Didn't think of it much at the moment, but notified the dealership and they just told me to bring it back if it worsens. I took my car in this day for my first 10k service. They supposedly did a multipurpose inspection and even stated everything is fine and normal (remember this, for my next multiple complaints will further into this problem).
On a trip to st. Charles, mo on 28 Mar 2013, after we parked, my son noticed severe sidewall breaks on the left front tire. He said it looked like the tire was about to blow. I thought that he was joking, but looked any way. Wow. I have never seen such severe condition on any tire, nor had I ever even heard of such a condition . There were numerous short breaks and long breaks inches long all around the outside of the sidewall. The breaks went all the way in with metal belts showing. We had just finished driving 200 miles on the interstate to get to st charles. I honestly don't know how we made it without a blowout and crash. I went immediately, and slowly, to the nearest tire dealer and purchased two new tires. I asked them to save the other tire so I might use as a possible spare since the tires had plenty of tread left. They put the "good" tire in the trunk for me. I later looked at the "good" tire and found that the inside sidewall was even worse than the "bad" tire! I feel very fortunate that these oe tires didn't cause a terrible accident. The other oe tires look ok but I will be replacing quickly. These tires are hankook optimo h725a tires.
Apparently this car was in a serious front end accident that was not repaired properly. I purchased this car from carmax. I was unaware of the previous accident. It was only until I had my windshield replaced after taking a stone to it that many problems were shown to me including parts missing, bent rim, fraudulent representation by car max.

On four separate occasions we have hit pot holes in the road at moderate speed resulting in an aluminum, wheel incurring substantial bending and going out of round. When this happens the wheel goes out of balance and the car looses stability on the highway. Both my wife and I have each been driving for more that 40 years and we have never experienced this degree of fragility in the wheels of any of our prior vehicles. The wheel design is of soft aluminum and the structure is cantelevered over the brake disc giving it very little central support to resist bending when confronted with ordinary road deformities. We have kept the last two wheels that were damaged in this manner and we would be happy to make them available for inspection. The first two were kept by the dealer at the time of replacement.

The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the spokes on the left front wheel broke. The contact was traveling 55 mph at the time of the failure. The contact did not think the vehicle hit a pot hole. The contact stated the tire was still inflated, but the wheel had failed. The failure mileage and current mileages were 45,000.
Event leading to failure: sunny mid-day, driving on the highway I heard a sound as if my tire had burst, and momentarily lost control of the vehicle. Did not crash. Failure and details: once I halted the car, I inspected my passenger-side front tire, and though it was flat, there were no signs of rupture or perforation. I proceeded to change it, and, having removed it, I noticed a crack in the inner lumen. The crack was an arc of approximately 6 inches. Action to correct the failure: a spare tire was set in place and the car has been taken to the dealer. Further details: dealer claims that the damage was user induced, but I was driving on the highway and there were no bumps, debris, nor did I crash. I fear this could happen to others. I had previously taken the car to the dealer because the low tire pressure light was on, but I was told that it was normal and that the sensor had to be rest.
Travelling under normal conditions on interstate 95 my tire pressure light came on signaling low tire pressure. I immediately reduced speed and moved over to the right lane to monitor any change in pressure or control. The light stayed on for approx. 3 miles without any signal of low pressure at which time the rear passenger tire blew out. I was able to control the car and pull off the highway within 30-40 feet after blowout. The tire itself was completely separated from the rim and was 100% torn from at the belt seam on the interior and exterior. The tire in question was a continental contipro contact 225. Vw would not admit defect after their review although mechanics at merchants and "off the record review" by vw admitted it looks like a defect. At the 10k service change at vw, the car was inspected and the tires were approved with sufficient tread noted.
Palisades vw in NY striped my car of all original part and they are telling me that the car comes with old winter tires. I have tried to resolve this with them and they laughed in my face and told me to go and talk to the people that sold me car. My nephew changed my tire he said that I still am going to need a new one because he thought I a donut but I told him I have a full tire that it was not a donut and when he was done he told it wasn't. It was a full tire but again I figured maybe I was did not pay attention or I really did not see a full tire. When I got a flat on October 7th I did not want to bring my car back to palisade vw because they did not do a good job so I went back to where I got my car and they called and asked if I had my tires changed because the tires are not the one the car came with. I have never changed my tires and I did notice that they where different from when I got the car. Not only that but palisade mechanic stole my gas had a full tank both times and I got my car back with less then a1/4. Please please I am begging for help I am a waitress I do not have the money for this I can't even afford to get apt please help me I am begging you. I need this car to be safe because I live with my niece and I baby sit her kid in exchange for room and board. These people saw the car seat and did not care if I crashed my car and killed the baby or any one else for that matter. Again I am begging for your help.
During the snow storm the clutch and the four wheel drive did not engage. I was driving slowly along with the traffic and the as the car started to acsend an incline in the road, it started to skid; and when I engaged the brakes, attempted to change gears, the clutch would not engage. When the car came to a stop, there was a odor of burning rubber. I contacted vw America about the failure, they covered the cost of the part and not the service as a customer appreciation good will gesture.
I have had 27 things break or fail on my 03vw Jetta 1. 8t. I bought the car used in 01/06 with 32,000 miles. After buying the car the first five mins the window shattered. First two months 2 tires blew out, front rim cracked, back tires out of alignment. Dealer paid to fix rim broke 2 weeks later the dealer paid fo used set of similar rims. Every light inside and out went out by 05/06 driver seat wont raise up cargo net in trunk falls apart dealer wont cover. Gas and trunk release buttons fell down inside of door. Radio stopped working front door speakers are shorting out. Driver window switch goes up when you push down and down when you push down have to fiddle with it for it to go up. Exhaust hanger broke causing chatter. Swaybar bushing fell out causing grinding and shaking when ever moving. Not cover by warranty all these happened by 05/07. Now its 10/08 and I have 84,000 miles. Current problems are rear spoiler brake light hangs down(dealer just glued it in place lasted about 4 months) cam and crank seals leaking oil cause odor inside of cabin. If I drive for more then an hour I get sick and light-headed. Seat, cargo net in trunk, is still broken. Radio still isn't fixed so I just went and bought an after market. Speakers still shortening out only when its cold out. Keyless entry only works within 4ft of the car. In the winter the car only gets 18mpg on the highway and about 14 in the city and the car is parked in a heated underground garage.

I purchased my vehicle brand new in 2001, in around 2005 I noticed some marks on wheels, but disregarded them as just debris, by 2008 my warrant ran out and my tires started losing air daily, thinking it was the tires I had them all replaced. By the summer I had 4 brand new tires and wheels that would be filled in the morning with air and flat by the end of the day, the marks I noticed became giant flakes as the wheels clear coat was just coming off. By the end of 2008 all 4 of my tires were losing air on a regular basis. As a result I had a company for $700 repair the wheels (stirpped, new paint and clear coat), this was split into front tires one month and back tires in early 2009. Here I am now in 2011 and the wheels are doing the same thing again. Air has not started leaking yet but the marks have appeared. Another year and I will be back in repair mode for factory wheels that have a defect but have not been recalled. Lost of air can occur instantly for these things.
: the contact stated the left rear wheel detached from the vehicle, crossed the highway and hit another vehicle. The other vehicle sustained minor body damage. A police report was filed. This occurred while driving 35 mph without warning. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the highway. The vehicle was then towed to an independent repair shop. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem; however the left rear wheel assembly, brakes, rim and tire were replaced. The manufacturer was not alerted. Updated 7/13/2006 - the bearing on the left rear wheel was loose and worn.

I have a 06' Jetta it has 10,000 miles on it and has had several problems. 1. Stero broke after 2 mo. And 6 cd's were stuck in damaged cd player and I still have not recieved them back like I was told after 4 months of being fixed. 2. Paint was peeling off front bumper, was repaired. 3. Back center console would not stay in place. 4. Steering wheel makes sqeaking noise when turned to the right. 5. Hazard button fell into dash. 6. Paint is now peeling again. 7. Chrome on wheel is peeling. 8. A brand new transmission had to be put in after 3 attempts of fixing it vw tech support told the valencia service department to just replace it. 9. When replacing the transmission the service department noticed that the drive shaft which is holding the axel spinndeles and wheels altogether to the steering wheel. The bolt was stripped and tech support said it was a factory malfunction and unsafe to drive unless fixed . We came to find out the squeaking noise from the steering wheel was due to this problem.
We have a 2001 vw wolfsberg Jetta, with bbs alloy wheels. The car has 59,000 miles on it and has been garage kept. The alloy rims are so corroded that the tires will not hold air. The car is not reliable because you never know when a tire will go flat.
Dt: contact states the drivers' side curtain air bags deployed without a collision. The seat belt jammed and could not be latched after this incident occurred. There is a police report (#05-5207) states there was no evidence that the vehicle had an impact. The air bag light was not illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a service dealer and told to contact vw of America. She did fax the police report to the manufacturer and they agreed to repair the vehicle without cost. The service dealer could not find what caused the air bag to deploy. The consumer is still driving a rental car because the car has not been repaired. A wheel and tie rod was replaced.
While driving consumer heard a noise. Rear passenger side wheel came off, and the brake drum split in half. Consumer was notified that wheel bearing failed, and right side wheel bearing was very weak.
