22 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2018

Idled in left lane, waiting for green light to make left. When light turned green, attempted to move forward. The car to lurched violently and stalled in the lane of traffic. The car lurched so strongly that when it recovered, my rear bumper hit the front license plate of the car behind me bending their license plate. All the warning lights on dash lit up like the vegas strip. Despite all efforts, could not get car to restart. Then car went dash went dark. Still could not get car to restart. Tried to get car to restart for about 10 minutes. Car finally restarted and I was able to complete left turn and park vehicle in parking lot at my place of employment. There I exchanged information with the other driver regarding damage to other vehicle. Went to work all day, and was able to start the car with no issues at the end of the work day. Drove car straight to vw. After 4 days at vw, vw concludes that the dual clutch moderator needs to be replaced for a cost of $6000. Many 2013 Jetta Hybrids have been recalled for transmission concerns including issues where the car is unable to handle the transition between gas and electric however this VIN is not included. Car is not safe. Driver does not retain control of vehicle's movements. Car's movements are unpredictable.

23 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2018

When driving car it just stops out of nowhere,on highway and on street. Very dangerous. Then it doesn't start up right away ,and I have to wait between 5 and 20 minutes. This happens in motion.

24 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2018

The vehicle was stopped on a city street and would not move when the gas pedal was stepped on. There was no failure lights or indication that something was wrong. The vehicle was placed in park and then back into drive with no change. We turned the vehicle off and restarted the car. The transmission did engage and we were able to get home but there was a lot of jerking. Once the car was home the check engine light came on and we were no longer able to start it. The car was towed to the vw dealer and we were told the transmission needed to be replaced even though it only has 86,000 miles. Vw has said its out of warranty and will not be paid for. The failure, as described by the mechanic could be do to the corrosive transmission fluid that other cars were recalled for. Not sure why our VIN was not included in the recall.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2018

During driving conditions the vehicle stalls then speeds up almost causing a crash into the car ahead of me. Sometimes when braking, the vehicle surges while my foot is on the brake. The vw dealer diagnosed it as corrosion of the control module within the gearbox. This was the exact problem the car was recalled for under vw recall number 34f6/4v in November 2013. The car was brought in in Dec. 2013 per the recall to change the gearbox oil but only had a 12 month warranty. Now, the corrosion caused the same problem that the recall tried to prevent. The recall did not correct the problem. The cost to fix is $8500! since it outside the warranty period, vw will not pay. This is a clear safety issue that vw needs to correct. The recall fix of changing the type of gearbox oil did not stop the corrosion which damaged the control module.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

The hybrid system drive has failed, fuel door actuator part that was recommended is incorrect in their system. I think they have difficult issues with reading my VIN because my car actually has numerous recalls but aren't seen. Emission repairs have been done and not resolved. After those repairs by vw dealership under warranty, the hybrid system failed and now does not engage the electric motor.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/12/2017

I was driving on the highway and the car stopped moving. It was a transmission issue with the gear box. The same recall that the Volkswagen has but when I look up my VIN it doesn't come. However I had the same issue happen as the one described in the recall. I replaced the transmission but the car is still jerking around a lot. I want Volkswagen to take care of that.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2017

Mechatonics unit keeps failing. Car either loses drive completely or shifting becomes very rough which creates a huge safety issue especially when entering traffic. The mechatronics unit failed on this car in February of 2016, without about 80,000 miles on the vehicle. The unit was replaced, but the replacement unit failed in October of 2017 with about 120,000 miles. There was a safety recall of 2013 Jetta Hybrids, but this particular VIN doesn't seem to be covered by that recall, and yet it has the exact same symptoms as the recalled units.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2017

Coming to home and was about to turn onto another street when car suddenly jerked and wouldn't go in drive. Had to stop put in park and wait for a few minutes and then it began to move. Dealership said it is transmission but the car isn't over 130,000 miles.

2013 vw Jetta Hybrid the vechiles felt like it was cutting in and out at ever stop and jerked us back and forth alittle. . After returning to north coast automall of akron. They said that was normal that all hybrids did that. . So yes I was excited haven't had a new car in along time . After willing and dealing with banks they said we need 1500. 00 down and you must buy this extended warranty or all bets off. Not trying to fight with anyone at the time my girl was upset and didn't want to pay another 2500 for this warranty that we told fixed anything on this car. . After finally just saying screw it guess you never know what kind of problems may come. So they promised me a new tire and gave me a platinum extended warranty packet sent us on are way . Also include was the vechiles had light damage to it nothing major. . . , so after driving the car for a couple days notice serious staking like and jerky bad . . So took it back to deal to get tire put on and vechiles checked went to mall across street to come back to we can't get ur car running it just won't start. . So after leaving in a lender car let me remind you the car I just got 3 days before. . So dave walters vw dealership calls and say need a mechtronic unit. . . . So at 63000 miles they said looks like it's going be about 3,000 to fixs. . Only 3,000 miles out of powertrain warranty vw corp. . Tells me powell we can't help you this matter has been resolved years ago. . So after fighting with vw and ncoast I pretty much was so after months of fighting back and forth summer hits. . No a/c and vw of brunswick tells me 500. 00 and well fix the a/c and get your extended warranty to fixed the tranny. . So after days of a loaner again I'm back at square well your extended warranty doesn't after months and months of getting pushed around bye lairs , fraud , false info and sold a false extended warranty and vw corp that doesn't want.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

While driving the vehicle at varying speeds the transmission will just stop engaging causing me to have to come to a stop, put the vehicle into park and restart the ignition. I have taken the vehicle to 2 different vw dealerships and have been told that the gearbox has gone bad and my whole transmission needs to be replaced which would cost roughly $6100. This all happened just outside the 70k mile warranty. I have attempted to contact vw numerous times but have encountered 2+ hour waiting times just to talk to someone. Online research has show that this happens to almost all of the 2013 Jetta Hybrids but no additional recall has been made to fix this issue.
