My bosch cp4 fuel pump failed causing my engine to stall while turning at a very busy/fast intersection. This can occur at speed without any warning of sudden failure, putting everyone on the road at risk. Fault code p0087 and p0191 were present, along with a flashing glow plug. Following ea no. : ea11-003 I removed the fuel metering valve and observed and documented metal shavings. The failed component is still installed on my vehicle as I will be having it serviced shortly. The fact that this same component has been recalled very recently in many domestic trucks, but not in the 600,000 vw/Audi vehicles it is installed in is concerning. Ea no. : ea11-003 date opened: 7-Feb-2011 date closed: 27-Mar-2015 the date this analysis was closed was months before the dieselgate scandal broke, leads me to question its credibility. This repair is very expensive as a whole new fuel system needs to be installed, with the same questionable pump.

While driving my car, which is a manual, will stall out of nowhere. Not while changing gears, but while driving on highway. It stalls which is extremely dangerous. I read the NHTSA investigated this problem in 2010. I believe my car is part of this investigation.

While driving on a major highway at approximately 65 mph, my car completely shut off. The steering wheel froze, all the lights on the dashboard started blinking and the car's engine completely shut down. The wheel locked as I was able to steer to the median. I got out of the car and another car behind me immediately crashed into my stopped car, totaling it.
The contact owns a 2013 Volkswagen jetta. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle began to hesitate and the check engine light illuminated. The contact drove the vehicle to an auto parts store that used a hand held scanner and determined that the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer for engine failures. The contact had stated that the engine failures were intermittent at first but had become recurring and at any speed. Additionally, she started having electrical issues and a problem with the catalytic converter. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that cylinder one glow plug and several relays needed to be replaced. The vehicle had been repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle failures connected with the "check engine" warning had reoccurred. The contact returned the vehicle to the same dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the failures were related to manufacturer service campaigns 24cv and 23u3 emissions modifications (engine and engine cooling). The contact was advised that her vehicle was no longer covered under warranty. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
The service act/recall for the glow plug was not reported to experian by Volkswagen when it was repaired on 12-11-2014 and it was incorrectly installed by the vw dealership in tulsa who serviced it. It was not disclosed to me and we paid over $1400 this year for an "incorrect" glow-plug, same exact part number. Please update the NHTSA id # 11553299 to include the glow plug. The vehicle is now showing the previously recalled codes for the vw recalls pertaining to 23u3 and 24cv and 4 more codes since we last spoke. We were sold the vehicle without being disclosed the recall repair on our experian report. Further, the vehicle is getting worse each day. The vehicle is a lemon & vw will not address the safety of it. They do not care about the lives of those who are their customers, something needs to change.
Tl- the contact owned a 2012 Volkswagen jetta. The contact stated that after her boyfriend had driven the vehicle and parked it in her driveway; her boyfriend informed her that the vehicle was on fire. The authorities were called and the fire department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. There were no active warning lights illuminated on the vehicle prior to the failure. A fire report and police report were filed, no injuries were reported. Due to the fire, the vehicle was towed by insurance to an insurance auto auction where the vehicle had been deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle; they offered no further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000. Jo.
Dpf light came on and went off and then came on.
Turbo failed without warning on the highway and I was unable to maintain the speed limit. This occurred in a vehicle that had the tdi emissions modification. The problem occurred a second time after a warranty repair at vic bailey Volkswagen and appears to be an ongoing problem that is related to the emissions modification. The first failure occurred approximately 20,000 miles after the emissions modification, and only 1300 miles after the previous failure and replacement of the turbo.
Warm or cold engine. Light throttle use similar to in town and highway driving conditions any gear (in manual transmission) around 10-40 mph steady speed and when transitioning from acceleration to coast to acceleration, and occasionally under hard acceleration car seems to "hiccup" or lose power and go through a throttle cut and follow on "confused" state (pulsing on and off the throttle) requiring the operator to let off the throttle until it stops being "confused". Could cause accident due to inability to accelerate if needed or unexpected "hiccup" causing someone who is being tailgated to be rear ended. Through checking publicly available forums I have found several complaints from users with responses indicating owners of this model tdi motor may be experiencing these same symptoms and when taken to vw (according to online forums) can take anywhere from 1 day to 1 month for them to come back with "we don't know what it is". Software fixes when done do not seem to fix the issue completely (acording to forums) nor does "purging" soot by doing high rpm (above 4000rpm) appear to fix the issue permanently with the issue coming back afterwards. Through commuting in my vehicle ~1500 miles per month I experience the pulsing every day at all speeds from 10-40 mph with low/steady throttle input when maintaining a steady speed. I also experienced the "confused" symptom today after an emergency stop at highway speeds necessitating a hard acceleration afterwards which I could not complete due to the engine cutting and acting "confused" around 3000 rpms in 3rd gear. Symptoms do not appear to incapacitate or immobilize the car and appear to be more of an "annoyance" but could effect safety and long term reliability with the constant loading and unloading motion of parts in the drive line. No indicator or alarm lights lit. Google tdi hiccup and 2013 tdi hiccup for forums.
Engine won't turn off. Car is in park, I try turning the engine off to exit the vehicle, key comes out but the engine is still running.
Tl the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen. While driving 30-35 mph, the vehicle shook and misfired. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. Epc warning light appears and slows car down from 65 to 15 miles per hour on freeway within 15 seconds, extremely dangerous situation and even had someone shatter my window with a screwdriver for almost causing accident.
In late 2016 I received notification of the pending Volkswagen/Audi diesel emissions settlement. About 4 months ago I I went through the verification process and it was determined that: 1-my car is in the buy back group 2-vw will pay it off and 3-vw will give me $800 and some dollars finalizing the transaction I have had this car ready to drop off and waiting for 3 months. I am now 2 payments behind as I was expecting for vw to honor their commitment, but have not heard anything. Volkswagen is apparently not displaying a sense of urgency with the bad faith shown by delaying this process. I am aware that their corporate representative at our local dealer has been apprised of my situation and nothing has happened. Can/will NHTSA compel them to follow up with their agreement. I have had a ;lot of trouble with the local dealer and have filed a bbb complaint on them also regarding this and another issue. Pleas help me. Sincerely, bruce gorsak.

Complete engine shut-off, without warning or stumbling, including all support systems (power steering and brakes, etc). No dash lights, etc. After 30 seconds, car restarts. Has now happened multiple times. Dealer has examined and offers no explanation or fix, because they can't "replicate" the problem, and car throws no codes when failure occurs. This is very dangerous. The suddenness of the failure leaves little time to pull off the road, sometimes forcing driver to stop in the middle of the road!.
Vehicle stopped running at highway speed. After tow and refueling car failed to start and run. Taken to dealer for service and informed that high pressure fuel pump was defective/had failed. This problem seems to be more than common for these tdi vehicles. Volkswagen of America refuses to offer assistance with the matter and will not acknowledge that these pumps are an issue.

High pressure fuel pump failure in tdi diesel causing catastrophic damage to major engine components including common rail, injectors , fuel tank etc. . . Appears to be manufacturers defect. Merely replacing will not solve problem without assurance that new design has been developed and utilized.
Intercooler piping accumulates an oil/water sludge mixture during cold weather driving. While parked after driving the sludge collects at the lowest point in the piping. If temperatures are below freezing, the sludge forms a plug which prevents the car from starting. If it is above freezing, the sludge is ingested into the engine where it causes hard starts and rough running. This has occurred five times in the last two months, dealer has been unable to determine cause or effect a repair other than periodically removing hoses to clean out accumulated sludge.
This is an addendum to complaint odi# 10362604 and references 6 additional "glowplug" warning light odi complaints filed for the 2009 model year. (the 3 references in the original complaint were only for the 2010 model year. ). This brings the total to 9 other Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen tdi incidents that are similar or identical to my own. Based on these multiple reports, there can be no question but that Volkswagen has known about this hazardous and costly defect for at least 3 years. Additional odi complaint numbers: 10356900, 10355519, 10354353, 10315932, 10297692, 10295191.
18 days and 400 odometer miles after purchasing my 2011 Jetta Sportwagen tdi, the glowlight warning light came on while driving. The following day, the glowlight began to blink, then the catalytic warning light also began blinking. Car was taken to dealership the same day. After (remote) diagnostic assistance from the manufacturer, dealer reported that the crank sensor needed replacing. After 2 days, the dealer informed me that it was not the crank sensor after all. Days later, a manufacturers rep inspected the car at the dealership and determined that an onboard computer was the problem, and that one would arrive from germany in 10 to 14 days. Dealer later revised that time estimate to 35 days. If dealers estimate is correct, my new car will have been in the shop for well over 40 days. Note: u. S. Dept. Of transportation database shows at least 3 similar complaints for 2010 jetta tdis. See odi id # 10359939, 10359434, 10353544. So why hasn't Volkswagen corrected this known problem?.
My new 2011 vw jetta sportswagen decelerated suddenly while driving at 65 mph on the highway. The engine lost most of its power and the car could only go at about 30 mph. The car regained all its power after the engine was shut off. I consider this a critical safety issue with the car.
I have encountered complete loss of throttle response when pulling out into traffic on 8 to 10 occasions over the 6 months that I have owned the car. On one occasion the motor completely died but restarted on first attempt after waiting five minutes.
We have had this car for less than two months. The day before we traveled about 45 minutes away and used the highway. The car was fine. The next day, when traveling on the highway at about 70mph our 2009 Jetta Sportwagen tdi suddenly lost power about 30 to 40 minutes into the trip. The gas pedal did not respond to being pressed. Our vehicle was slowing down. It was like the car died and we were coasting. Five to ten seconds later it was like nothing happened. The car resumed power. It has not happened again. We took it to the dealer and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it.
My 2009 jetta tdi sportwagon with 12,000 miles would not start one day. I attempted to jump start and pop start the car, both failed to start the engine. It got towed to nearest vw dealer. They stated that the starter failed, so they replaced it. After replacing the starter, the car was still not fixed and they discovered condensation in the intake system. They stated that vw was not sure what was causing the condensation, seeing as I drive 100 miles per day, but it was now running to factory specifications, so the service manager stated " so we are calling it fixed". Another tdi was also in the shop for this same problem. I was told that vw can not guarantee or provide anything to me in writing stating that when my factory warranty runs out, and this problem occurs again, that it will be covered. I requested vw to extend my warranty but they stated that they do not provide that to customers.
The vehicle has a 1 to 2 second lag when accelerating from a standing start or when I step hard on the accelerator pedal. It acts like it has to think about it for a while before the motor starts to rev up and the transmission engages. This has caused several near-accidents when pulling into traffic, and at stop signs when other drivers decided I'd waited too long and started into the intersection at the same time my car finally decided to get around to going. This is a tdi with the dsg transmission. I had the dealer run a full diagnostic and they didn't find anything. I see others reporting the same behavior here and elsewhere. I suspect faulty programming in either the engine or the transmission software, though it may be just the inherent behavior of the system. I'll put today's date on the "approximate incident date" although it's been this way since I bought the car in November 2008.
