Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen owners have reported 6 problems related to gasoline fuel system (under the gasoline fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
2012 vw jetta tdi sportwagon 10408 miles. Flashing glow plug light, and car would not go over 40 mph. Dealer replaced the fuel pressure gauge. Day after repair both the glow plug light and check engine light came on, would not go over 40 mph. Dealer then replaced the hpfpump per vw tech recommendations. Fuel (diesel) was checked on both repairs and not found to be faulty. A known issue with this car, though supposedly "fixed". My concerns are for additional failure, potentially leaving us stranded or on a freeway going 40mph.

I was driving the vehicle when the glow plug light on the dash began flashing, then the computer displayed engine fault, contact workshop, then the check engine light came on and the call stalled in the middle of an intersection and had to be pushed to the side of the road. The car would not start again.

The second cylinder of the fuel injected diesel engine began to leak the diesel fuel injected. The undercarriage of the car and the right sided panels were covered with diesel fuel. The engine lost power and at slower speeds fuel began to pool under the car.

Glow plug light came on, then engine light, car wouldn't accelerate when I stepped on the gas. Had to pull off the interstate. But made it home slowly. Car towed to dealer. Dealer says its bad fuel. Dept of consumer protection checked stations. No problems found with fuel. Car needs whole new fuel system-8k to repair. Vw won't fix. Told me to call insurance company. Car still at dealer now over 3 weeks.

Dead pedal - hesitation - stalling. Absolutely no throttle response when trying to pull out into traffic. You press the pedal and there is nothing there. Stop and go traffic on the expressway or stopping at an intersection the car stalls. Also have experienced surging at highway speed as if the fuel supply is cutting out. We recently returned from a trip to portsmouth nh. We were in six lanes of stop and go traffic on I-95 and the car kept stalling. When you would depress the gas pedal to continue moving there is no throttle response. We parked in the portsmouth municipal garage. As we ascended through the garage looking for a parking space [incline position] about 5 mph, there was no throttle response. The car would not move. I had to continue to feather the pedal to pull into a parking space. We now have 20k miles on the car and have had the car looked at 6 times at the local vw dealer with no fix. The car has serious throttle issues and has become dangerous to drive. Please note to numerous to mention vw tdi hesitation issues on many web forums. Someone is likely to get seriously injured or killed with this problem that vw must know about. Please advise !!!!!.
Car has stuttered when accelerating from stop since purchasing with 12 miles. On 12/21/2009, car lost power and stuttered at speed on interstate highway. The road immediately climbed a hill. With accelerator to the floor, the car dropped to under 60 mph and I shifted from 6th to 5th. Car still kept decelerating so I shifted to 4th. Fortune provided a rest area as the car got to about 45 mph on the interstate. After parking, car stalled while idling. Starting engine would roughly idle at 1/2 of the idle rpm for about 5 seconds before stalling. After 4 tries, I let the car sit for 10 minutes and it restarted without further incident. The car had diesel purchased in upstate NY in the winter, presumably a winter blend. The incident happened in va in 30+ degree temperatures, so presumably gelling of the fuel was not the problem. Additionally, on 12/17/2010, car started but would not rev above 1500 rpm even while out of gear. Would not go more than 10 mph. I assume it is the fuel system but the vw dealer claims everything is fine with the car.
