1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 01/17/2025

My bosch cp4 fuel pump failed causing my engine to stall while turning at a very busy/fast intersection. This can occur at speed without any warning of sudden failure, putting everyone on the road at risk. Fault code p0087 and p0191 were present, along with a flashing glow plug. Following ea no. : ea11-003 I removed the fuel metering valve and observed and documented metal shavings. The failed component is still installed on my vehicle as I will be having it serviced shortly. The fact that this same component has been recalled very recently in many domestic trucks, but not in the 600,000 vw/Audi vehicles it is installed in is concerning. Ea no. : ea11-003 date opened: 7-Feb-2011 date closed: 27-Mar-2015 the date this analysis was closed was months before the dieselgate scandal broke, leads me to question its credibility. This repair is very expensive as a whole new fuel system needs to be installed, with the same questionable pump.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 09/17/2023

Twice since hitting 50k miles, my high pressure fuel pump has failed, resulting in complete and sudden loss of power midst driving. Vw says that it is a warranty issue, but, has no real guidance or promise that it will be fixed. I do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle until we know why this issue is happening and how to fix.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 03/12/2023

The car stalls in traffic and is slow to accelerate. The service department attributes the cause from a problem with a contaminated fuel system. However, the car has had a series of problems with the electrical system where I was told the "radio is draining the battery". The car would be parked without the keys in the ignition and it failed to start and the cause being the radio draining the battery. The issue is both electrical and diesel engine related.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 01/07/2023

Car all of a sudden stalled in the middle of the road with almost no warning because the high pressure fuel pump failed. Car only has 133,000 miles on it. Left us without a car over an hour and a half from home with our kids in the car. I am told repair is several thousand dollars (almost what the car is worth) Volkswagen knows that there is an issue with these pumps, as the previous years (approx. 2009 with the same pump were recalled, but not this year).

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 08/16/2022

In June of 2021 my car had a warning light for the dpf filter come on and told me to follow the instructions in the manual to drive it on the freeway at certain rpms to get it to clear well that didn’t work and eventually the check engine light came on as well, I took it to the dealership and found out that the diesel particulate filter was bad and needed to be replaced, the dpf was under an extended warranty because of the whole dieselgate issue, my car had approx 95k miles or so on it when the filter was replaced along with my timing belt. Well six months later the dpf filter light came on again so I brought it back to the dealership that replaced it and they said it wasn’t their fault and that now the glow plugs and thermostat needed to be replaced to get the filter to work so I spent a bunch of money fixing that and now just recently the dpf light and check engine light came on again so I brought it back to the mechanic and they said I needed a new O2 sensor and that would fix this problem, well the replaced the sensor and I drove away and now my turbo blew which was incredibly scary cause my car lost all power and made a crazy siren noise as I tried to get to a safe area. And my car isn’t driveable at all, my car only has 101,000 miles in it and it going to cost me over $3000 to fix the turbo when I just spent $600 to replace the sensor, $600 on glow plugs and themostat, and $1000 on the timing belt. This is a lot of extra money to spend on a car in just one year. I don’t think that the dpf filter should be giving me problems every 6 months. I’m a single mom and I don’t know what to do, I can’t afford a new car but I also can’t afford to keep fixing this one. My car is currently at the vw dealership waiting to be fixed and I hope I’m not wasting my money just for it to break again. I’m going into credit card debt just to keep this car running at this point.

11 Other Fuel System problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 10/01/2021

At first we had to replace the intake manifold and then a month later we had to replace the catalytic converter and now it’s in the shop having the dlf filter , fuel pump , & fuel lines . All dealing with the diesel exhaust and fuel distribution. It’s leaking diesel fuel with strong odor of diesel to the point it makes you feel sick. The Volkswagen dealership never informed me of any recalls on my vehicle. The dealership is flow Volkswagen greensboro nc.

12 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

Dpf light came on and went off and then came on.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 06/19/2020

Turbo failed without warning on the highway and I was unable to maintain the speed limit. This occurred in a vehicle that had the tdi emissions modification. The problem occurred a second time after a warranty repair at vic bailey Volkswagen and appears to be an ongoing problem that is related to the emissions modification. The first failure occurred approximately 20,000 miles after the emissions modification, and only 1300 miles after the previous failure and replacement of the turbo.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 11/05/2019

Warm or cold engine. Light throttle use similar to in town and highway driving conditions any gear (in manual transmission) around 10-40 mph steady speed and when transitioning from acceleration to coast to acceleration, and occasionally under hard acceleration car seems to "hiccup" or lose power and go through a throttle cut and follow on "confused" state (pulsing on and off the throttle) requiring the operator to let off the throttle until it stops being "confused". Could cause accident due to inability to accelerate if needed or unexpected "hiccup" causing someone who is being tailgated to be rear ended. Through checking publicly available forums I have found several complaints from users with responses indicating owners of this model tdi motor may be experiencing these same symptoms and when taken to vw (according to online forums) can take anywhere from 1 day to 1 month for them to come back with "we don't know what it is". Software fixes when done do not seem to fix the issue completely (acording to forums) nor does "purging" soot by doing high rpm (above 4000rpm) appear to fix the issue permanently with the issue coming back afterwards. Through commuting in my vehicle ~1500 miles per month I experience the pulsing every day at all speeds from 10-40 mph with low/steady throttle input when maintaining a steady speed. I also experienced the "confused" symptom today after an emergency stop at highway speeds necessitating a hard acceleration afterwards which I could not complete due to the engine cutting and acting "confused" around 3000 rpms in 3rd gear. Symptoms do not appear to incapacitate or immobilize the car and appear to be more of an "annoyance" but could effect safety and long term reliability with the constant loading and unloading motion of parts in the drive line. No indicator or alarm lights lit. Google tdi hiccup and 2013 tdi hiccup for forums.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

Dear sirs; the washington state attorney general advised that I contact you in regards to Volkswagen group of America 2. 0-liter class action settlement my claim made during the recall was accepted then later denied. I now have no incentive to have the car modified to conform with the environmental standards the rest of the car industry must abide by. Also, I had gone through the trouble of buying another car, which I needed for work, in anticipation that Volkswagen would honor the contract they made with me. I believe their ultimate denial of my claim was intentional deception by Volkswagen group and their representatives on the claims committee to avoid paying me the $20,900 they had previously agreed to pay and were in fact required to pay by law, under the class action settlement. I am most likely not the only citizen who was damaged by Volkswagen's deception and fraud in creating a false and misleading deadline for this settlementa settlement which was designed to repay consumers who were affected by Volkswagen's original deception and fraud regarding the emissions on the cars they sold to us. Respectfully yours, andrew mellon 317 32nd Ave seattle, wa 91822 206-909-3474 andrew_mellon@hotmail. Com.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 08/30/2016

My wife and her mother were out shopping in san diego. They suddenly experienced engine malfunction and subsequent stall of our 2013 jetta tdi sportwagon. This resulted in our vehicle blocking a two lane busy boulevard. This street is a no stopping anytime roadway clearly marked with signs. My wife christine, pulled to the far right of the shoulder as possible. This was a frightening and dangerous experience for my wife and mother in law. The vw was totally dead and required towing to a vw dealer repair facility. The service rep at vw diagnosed the issue immediately when the details of the malfunction were explained. Apparently, this issue has been known and thoroughly investigated. I am shocked to find out the problem is extensive with the tdi engines from Volkswagen. How could I have not been notified of this potential dangerous situation?.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 03/15/2012

I have experienced repeated problems with my tdi manual transmission Jetta Sportwagen. Within the first month of buying this vehicle, I experienced a lurching sensation which would come and go randomly especially when in third gear. Brought it to the dealer, but they couldn't replicate. This has continued sporadically for over a year and a half. The vehicle also sometimes idles very roughly when at a stop. More recently, in March 2012, the vehicle stalled twice while driving at about 30 - 40 mph and also now in may 2012 it has done this again. There are never any warning lights that go on, only the engine light once it has actually stalled. Brought it to the dealer everytime this has happened and they are never able to replicate the situation, so they send me home with it. I was very upset with this and confronted the dealership about this when I realized how many others have had similar problems. They said they couldn't do anything because they couldn't find anything to fix. They said they would notify Volkswagen and I called them as well and have now been given a case number. This is a serious issue and needs to be addressed. There is potential for major life threatening situations if a car stalls while driving in the middle of traffic. I feel like I am driving around in a time bomb, because you never know when it is going to happen.

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Failure Date: 08/20/2010

My 2009 jetta tdi sportwagen stalled at an exit ramp and I assumed I'd let the clutch slip. When I turned it back on, the check engine light came on. After parking and being away from the car for a couple hours, the light didn't come back on. A week or so later, the same sequence of events happened and, since the car was due for its 30k service, I took it to the dealer to be checked out. They hooked it up to the diagnostics and said it needed a software update, which they did. I picked the car up the next day, and on the way home from the dealer, the engine died and the check engine light came on, again. I took it back to the dealer, where they ran the diagnostics once more, and said it was a faulty sensor, so they replaced the sensor. The next day, the light was back on. The third time I took the car in, I realized the connection between the engine stalls, and the check engine light, and told that to the service associate. After checking things out, they called and said they would be keeping it for at least a week, because they'd found metal bits in the fuel system, and had ordered parts to replace the entire system.
