1 Sun Roof problem of the 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle

Failure Date: 08/15/2008

The problem is a defect in the sunroof drain tubes which allows them to easily get clogged, which causes water leaks to the interior of the car. This can cause mold and other damage.

2 Sun Roof problem of the 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle

Failure Date: 12/18/2005

Sunroof clogs constantly causing water leaks into the car from the headliner or down the side along the windshield to door frame pillar. Apparently, there are many vw beetle owners out there with this same issue. I had vw fix it and it was clogged again within a month.

The convertible top has been a major failure point. It has been "fixed" several times now and is still failing.

4 Sun Roof problem of the 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle

Failure Date: 09/04/2004

Transmission replaced three times, still not working properly, lunges into forward and reverse, and will drop into and out of high and low gear when driving. Sunroof leaked because the drainage tubing was not connected at factory causing water damage to leather seats and now mold is growing inside of vehicle, making it difficult to be inside and have had one sinus infection already.

5 Sun Roof problem of the 2002 Volkswagen New Beetle

Failure Date: 09/16/2003

Driving down the highway at 65 mph my closed sunroof shattered into a million pieces. It sounded like someone fired a gun, and then glass went everywhere.

6 Sun Roof problem of the 1999 Volkswagen New Beetle

Failure Date: 06/01/2003

The roof cover is falling down. The glue that is use to keep the cloth attached to the roof is very poor and after 3 years it will start to fall down. I have 2 identical vw beetle's and they both suffer from this problem.
