Windshield Problems of Volkswagen New Beetle

- the contact owns a 2006 Volkswagen beetle. While driving at various speeds the right side of the windshield distorted the driver's view. The failure occured in the lower portion of the windshield and was very distracting. The dealer compared other vehicles with the contact's stating that the distortion in the window was normal. I bought my New Beetle brand new in August 2001. The day after I brought it home (over 2 hours away), the check engine light came on. I called the dealer and they said it didn't mean anything unless it was flashing so I thought nothing of it. 2 months later my abs went out while I was an hour from my house and it had to be towed and replaced. The windows continually go up and down by themself but the dealer can't fix it. I took my car back to the dealer yesterday because it was leaking brake fluid and told them again about the cel light. They then told me I needed to have the mass air flow sensor replace (nearly $400) and that is why my car has been downshifting by itself and losing power while driving. This makes me feel unsafe to drive the car that I had wanted for so long. Dt.

I am requesting any defect information on the rear windshield of my 2000 New Beetle GLS. On returning to my locked car on lunch break I found the whole back windshield was shattered in a puffed out direction (no main stress crack). Since it is safety glass it remained intact (I have several pictures). The car had been left still for 3 hours. I contacted both dealership and "zone" customer service for volkswagon to report this and they say they never heard of such a thing ever happening. I work for a forklift company with 20 plus mechanics on site and it was said to resemble heat expanding in the car. This is January the temperature on this day was 40 degrees and sunny. I would like any information you have pertaining to this. I would love to know the answer to a $500. 00 question. This is very devastating.
