Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Volkswagen Passat. The contact stated that while driving about 70 mph, the vehicle lost power and shut down without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was not called. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was a recall and that the contact may be reimbursed for the repairs related to the recall (NHTSA campaign number: 17v509000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer sent some paper work to the contact, to be completed for the reimbursement. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000. Fe.
