No heat in passenger side of vehicle. Repaired/replaced heater core 12/2016, occurred again 1/2018. Known issue not acknowledged by vw. See ts-80-15-04 for same situation in models other than Passat. Creates possible safety hazard in cold climate where defrost of passenger window does not clear window.
I was parked with the car off and all doors unlocked and I was unable to open the front driver side door of my 2013 Volkswagen Passat from the inside or outside. It sounded as if the lock on the front driver door would not unlock. All other doors opened normally. I now have to enter and exit the driver seat from the front passenger side seat. This seems like a serious safety concern if I ever had to exit my vehicle quickly in an emergency situation.
Heater core: heater core become clogged even with regular flushes. On 3rd heater core in less than 4 years of ownership. Vw's replacement program does not restart after new heater core is installed, but at purchase of vehicle. Very disingenuous. Car engine area starts to over heat without proper fluent circulation.
Getting cel light for p202b which should be cover under emission warranty since it needs to heat blu def fluid to comply with epa standard and my local county emission test, Volkswagen states that it is not part of emission system and wants around a thousand dollars to fix even though they know they have problems with these heaters and have up dated part number to correct the problem. This is unacceptable with there emission scandal still in progress. These heaters need to fall under emission warrenty.
The nitrosoxide sensor (nox) has failed again. The first one failed after a year of ownership, but at 53k miles - beyond warrantee mileage. I complained that the "sensor" is actually a module because it has computer components and needs to be programed and therefore falls within the 80k mile federal emission standard. Also, a part should not fail after I year of use and low mileage. Vw agreed to pay approx. 60% of the $900 bill. Now at 102k miles the second nox sensor has failed. I've complained to vw customer service (case#170369084) that this should not happen every 50k miles. Vw will not cover any of the cost to repair this faulty part citing the vehicle is beyond warrantee. They covered a large portion of the cost before as a recognition that something with the part is not correct. Now they won't cover any of the cost after it has failed a second time. On vw blog sites this is a recurring problem on vw diesels, but apparently not at a high enough frequency for vw to recognize the problem. I don't feel I should have to pay for this problem and vw customer service suggested I file a complaint with NHTSA. Where do I go from here?.
Have had roughly 7 occurrences in the past year where at low speeds in the city the car will turn off. Car will normally start back up once it is placed in park. I have gone to the dealership twice and had a diagnostic check with no trouble codes found. Contacted Volkswagen help line last night and they recommended getting the car scanned again for more analysis. Each visit is costing around $99, so return trips to find the issue are not monetarily feasible.
Steering wheel clock spring: the steering wheel clock spring became contaminated and the drivers front airbag is lost. In a crash the front airbag won't deploy.
I keep receiving recall notices for 1vwcn7a3xdc003375. Volkswagen took possession of this car on 11/29/2016 under the diesel emissions recall. Vw blames NHTSA for continued notices on a car they own. .
Heat does not blow out any of the passenger side vents, including the windshield defroster, even after the engine is up to normal operating temperature. The result is that the passenger side of the windshield does not defrost, obscuring visibility. My research tells me that the problem is a plugged heater core. The heater core is only covered up to 36,000 miles but my car has 74,000 miles on it. Vw will not cover the cost to replace the heater core.
The wire harness burned through installation reaching to compressor.
Nothing happened yet, my concern is that why is it taking so long for these parts to come in, what happens if me or my son get in accident, I dont think this matter is been taking serious, and I think it should. So tell me what I should do, I dont want a car if can kill me or my son. And I have seen where some people have died from these airbags. I dont want to one of those people.
Adblue heater failure. Not covered under premier extended warranty.
I just had the dealer refill adblue and soon after I get the check engine light indicating a faulty sensor in the ad blue tank . This vehicle is part of the recall for the emissions issue.
I am the owner of a 2013 vw Passat tdi. My car has about 35000 miles and has been outside of the warranty period for about 4 months. A few weeks back I noticed the engine light of the vehicle comes on and off, and last week I took the car to the vw dealer for a service where I was advised by the dealer that the ad blue heater component needed to be replaced and the cost including the parts and labor would be around a $1000. 00 I then did some research and learned this is a common problem with the vw tdi models where the same component goes bad around 40000 miles or 4 years. I called the vw customer service and explained the issue I was facing and sought help to replace the part, and I was told by the vw customer service since the car was out of the warranty period, vw will not help and I had to pay the expense out of pocket. This is yet another problem with the vw tdi model on top of all other safety and environment issues these models have and vw refuses to take ownership of the problem. The Volkswagen emissions scandal and all other safety and environmental issues are bad enough, and now vw is not taking ownership of the weak components used in the tdi models and expect the consumer to take the heavy burden of paying to fix these problems. I feel the government agencies need to step in and help the consumer against companies like this and force them to fix the problem.
I was driving to work when the cel came on. I had it scanned a few days later and found that the issue was related to the adblue heater. Vehicle performance was not affected during driving. After some internet research it was found that this is a common problem in certain model years of this vehicle. As it is, if the fluid in this system gets too cold it could freeze and cause the emission system to not function properly and eventually disable the vehicle altogether.
Adblue heater element failure was covered until July now not part of emissions or switch failure NHTSA #16v171000 90degrees should not have been on.
Check engine light is activated on 8/1/16. Scheduled to diagnose on 8/3/16 . Adblue heater has quit and quote to repair is $1165. Why is this not covered under emissions warranty? the point of adblue is reduced emissions. Now, if it gets too cold, my car won't start because it detects that it cannot effectively control emissions? air quality, at last check of confined space entry permits, is a safety issue.
Ad blue emissions sensor fault, part of the emissions problems with the vw diesels. As of now vw is saying this part of the emissions system will not be covered under the reimbursement. It is my understanding that vw emissions system has many faults including this one. Cost is over $1500 for this fix!.
I received a recall letter warning of serious injury of death in April 2016 and no action has been taken 3 months later.
The a/c does not work during the first five minutes in the morning. After that works correctly during the day.
Diesel exhaust fluid system failed causing no start situation. Cars less than three years old and is already being recalled for emissions cheating. Don't have the 1100$ to spend on a car that is being bought back in a couple months. Stuck at the house luckly or a tow would have been needed. Also the dealer most often can use a vag-com scanner to reset this and the car will work, but there just telling people they "need" the heater and sometimes I've heard the whole tank which of course is a lie. The heater isn't what goes bad it's a thermistor type sensor that tells the car the temp of the fluid. When this fails it gives the computer bad info and results in a shutdown of the system. Which can be reset, and often works. I can't afford a vag-com software setup at 800$ either so we are stuck and very upset! vw slapped us in the face twice now with faulty emmision components.
At 61,794 the amble heater failed. . It is part of the emissions system and vw wants $1200 to repair. Without it being fixed, the car will not smog check. From investigating, this is a part that has been faulty on vw tdi's that is causing much frustration with owners.
Check engine light came on 2013 tdi Passat. Car just out of warranty @ 41000miles. Took to dealer. Adblue heater element "burned up. " caused damage to adblue control module. Common problem with this car (all over web) . $1200 to repair. Called vw advocate. They covered entire cost of repair.
On February 27th, 2016 night, after getting into the car, I could not open the door from inside on the driver's side. If there was an accident or fire in the car, I would not be able to get out. I bought the car in 2013, and it is only 24,000 miles now. The company should investigate this safety issue seriously.
Something is causing the heater core to clog and that reduces the defrosters ability to work and therefore reduces visibility under certain scenarios. Such as rain or high cabin humidity. The TSB to replace the heater core does not solve the root cause since the heater core fails again after some time.
In low temperatures, doors often will not unlock. It has happened a few times while being inside the car. Possible serious hazard after an accident.
The heater core plugs up because of flux left in cooling system components. The front windows won't clear because of no heat from plugged heater core creating unsafe driving conditions. Vw not covering all cost to properly repair this problem.
Heater core was damaged by defective coolant from factory.
Airbag light is on. Control on steering wheel doesn't work.
In cold weather, when depressed, the clutch pedal makes a loud clicking sound. Annoying, but doesn't seem to be safety-threatening.
Vehicle schedule for 40000 mile service. Engine warning light came on code p2196. Volkswagen did a computer update in January 2015 for 30000 mile service, 23n5 ecm software recall. Oxygen sensor (front) replaced was replaced by vw when I complained it should not have failed. The emission system is in question since the oxygen sensor is running rich. This year model should be added to recall for pollution system not function correctly. This model is diesel. Tdi.
Roughly 2 weeks ago, our Passat starting having increased noise at higher speeds, typically highway speeds. I took the car into the dealership to have it looked at and they determined that the wheel bearing was bad. It seems very unusual to have a bad wheel bearing, particularly with a sedan, go bad at such low mileage.
I was told that my airbag issue was due to the sensor getting wet and I had to pay to fix it, and then I receive letter saying my inflator is part of recall, the first recall on my car for the daytime driving light still has not fix, its been in the shop at least three times, on top of that you can move the gears in my car without pressing anything or braking. .
Drove my car to run an errand and when I came back home and tried to get out of the drivers side door, there was a big popping noise and the handle wouldn't engage to open the door. I had to roll down the window and open the door from the outside. After I had the door open and tried to shut it, it wouldn't latch closed and remained open. I had my husband take a look at it and he was able to play with the latch and make it engage again to close the door. He then took apart the door as much as he could to see what had happened and found that the wire cable loop that pulled the lever to open the door had shredded. When he called the dealership they said that they actually kept those cables on hand because it was a pretty common problem and it would cost around $500 to fix. If this is a common problem, why haven't these been recalled? I'm glad that it just happened to me in my driveway and not during a accident or car fire.
This is my third complaint about this vehicle. During the August flooding, while driving home from work and passing through some water piles my car lost the bottom engine cover, lower grill broke, got them replaced no problem. Winter comes and when it gets cold front door freezes shut, remote start barely works only when it wants too. Also no problem. We got out first winter storm thank god I had put new tires before this. However driving home some areas had a bit of snow first I get stuck and cant turn off traction control. Then my lower grill breaks again. Is the grill made out of water bottle plastic. If every time there is a storm I need to spend 250 dollars on a lower grill that is just a wonderful car expense. You try and trade in the car and the value just dropped. This is my first and last vw. Horrible quality that a bumper can't with stand some accumulation of snow. I will file a complaint with vw as well, lets hope they do something about it. Plus they still did not correct the navigation and bluetooth issue.
