Air Conditioner Problems of Volkswagen Passat

This is regarding the air conditioner (ac). I purchased a used 2015 Volkswagen Passat from pearson Chrysler Jeep Dodge on Feb. 16, 2020; odometer reading was 54454. I did not test driver the car before I purchased it. That was a big mistake. When I picked the car up a few days later, the salesperson turned the ac on high speed. I turned it off and he turned it back on. I turned it off again. It appeared he was hiding something. It was February. I did not need the ac on. My son and I was quick to notice this noise that sounded like a hot water heater noise. Description: the noise is like a small hot water heater makes when the water temperature is cool and the heater comes on to increase the temperature so that the water is hot again. The noise concerning the ac continued. In March, pearson had Volkswagen kia service my vehicle. According to the invoice from wb Volkswagen kia, they installed a/c dye. The noise was very low. In may I noticed the ac was not cooling my car. I dropped my caroff at pearson service dept. On June 3 &June 10. Pearson invoice stated, "sublet vehicle to wb Volkswagen, vw. Found condenser faulty, Volkswagen evacuated a/c system, removed and replaced condenser, recharged a/c to proper level. Rechecked. Ok" the noise is still there. I find this interesting, the invoice in March was documented from Volkswagen kia and the second invoice from pearson for the record, a service rep. In the service dept. At pearson told me that they do not work on foreign car. I would like the noise to cease pertaining to the air conditioner. I have never had this issue with air conditioner in cars that owned in the past.

I have 51,000 miles on my car and the air conditioner unit went out. The car is too young to have the a/c replaced at this juncture. . . Faulty parts. The a/c unit is listed in a class action lawsuit, along the windshield wiper system and the bearings. The a/c problem was mentioned to the vw mcdaniels service advisor twice when I was in on a service call, but said was not recorded on my portal of the vehicle. The driver seat has split and on the side it is warned. This is not good.

Heater core on a 2012 Passat has corroded and clogged with factory fluids inside still. Causes the heat to not come out of the air conditioning system.

The a/c of this vehicle would not turn on until the engine heated up to 190 degrees. I only had 40k miles when the a/c system would not work to standard. An air conditioning system recover, evacuate and recharge needed to be completed, the expansion valve and drier needed to be replaced. .

I was driving home with my three kids from utah to oregon on I-84. While passing through boise, id there was suddenly a loud explosion sounding like a bomb or gunshot. I looked back to make sure my kids were okay and they had a look of terror on their faces and asked what that noise was. I wasn't sure what had happened and then small glass shards started raining down on me through the vents in the shade shield of the sunroof. I thought that something must have landed on the car even though I hadn't passed through any overpasses and quickly pulled over to inspect the sunroof as I knew it had broken but couldn't quite see what had happened since I had the shade shield closed. When I got out to examine the sunroof, it had spontaneously exploded outwards, not imploded inwards. The glass was shattered but was still mostly intact, most likely from the tinting, but it was clearly pushed outwards and not inwards. I had all the windows and sunroof closed at that time. It was about 95 degrees outside and I had the air conditioning on in the car. We were listening to a audio book and not to any bass thumping music. When I called the dealership, the man said he had never heard of that happening before and that it was impossible for a car to do so. Well, it is possible and it did happen and I'm glad that I had enough presence of mind to remain calm and not swerve into other traffic on the busy interstate when it did happen.

While driving 65 mph on interstate in nice weather and low traffic the sunroof of my 2013 Volkswagen Passat exploded outwards creating a large hole 18" - 20". It was a loud gunshot type noise and some glass ended up on our faces and arms creating minor cuts. Most of the glass was blown outside the car and damaged the roof and trunk. When the explosion occurred the windows were closed and the sunroof was also closed and the air conditioner was on. We were not under any overpasses or near buildings or road debris. Dealership will not repair under warranty saying it is an outside force. Vw customer care was difficult to reach and also denied the claim and I will have to file an insurance claim due to extent of damage.

Air conditioning stopped working after 5 years. Condenser cracked/broken according to dealer, requires replacement of all air conditioning components. Total cost $1,700 incl. Labor.
