1 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/07/2019

My daughter was driving her 2015 vw Passat and car was operating fine until turning left onto county highway off of state highway. After turning, car would not shift out of gear it was in; the engine just revved higher rpms. Top speed was approximately 30 mph. The intersection she was turning at is a very busy one.

2 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 08/10/2018

Transmission does not shift into gears smoothly or sometimes not at all. Car has trouble shifting into gear going into reverse, while driving normally going 40 miles an hour in traffic, after a stop at a stop light or after putting on breaks to slow down behind car that has put on breaks. While pressing the accelerator nothing happens, car just revs as if it was in neutral and will not move, then will finally jerk/shift usually hard into gear.

3 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/29/2017

I was on the highway with my car in motion when my car began to sputter and stall forcing me to pull over and have my car towed home, where it only starts after turning over multiple times and will not shift gears properly due to an improper fuel pump not giving the engine enough fuel.

4 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

(ad dealer info) tl the contact owns a 2010 Volkswagen Passat. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the vehicle would not switch gears. The "drive mode" and "reverse mode" indicators illuminated without warning when either of the two gear modes were engaged. The contact also stated that the vehicle would not switch from the reverse gear to the drive gear, nor would the vehicle switch from the drive gear to the reverse gear, when prompted. In an attempt to correct the failure, the contact removed the ignition key and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent over a period of one year. The dealer was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact would have to pay a diagnostic fee. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that vehicle was out of warranty and that the recall for the failure was VIN-specific. Volkswagen provided the contact with case number: 17-108-93-69. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

5 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/18/2013

Car was set on cruise control and engine revved up , cruise control shut off and loss of power to the motor. Tried to reset cruise control to a lesser speed and would not set. Car felt like it would not shift gears (acted like it was a manual drive being wound to tight). Drove for several miles then the warning light came on (glowplug indicator). Parked in a safe location and stopped car. After about 10 minutes I restarted the car and no warning flashed so I began to drive car. . . Would not accelerate. Warning light came back on. Had car towed to dealership got repaired (replaced turbo charger along with oil feed and return lines). Picked car up on 11/26/14 drove for less than 30 miles and got a engine oil light and warning message: engine off manual. Had car towed to dealership. Dealership stated that they talked with manufacturer and they are going to give me a new turbocharger and new engine. The car is still in the shop and repairs have not been completed at the time of this writing.

6 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 05/26/2010

Bought 2010 Passat new on 05/25/10. On 05/26 with less than 100 miles, the transmission suddenly would not go past 1st gear after accelerating from stop sign. Was close to home so drove around the block trying to get it to upshift. Attempted to reverse and when gear shifter was moved transmission would not move from drive. Called dealer and they said they would tow in. Next day I drove to work and have not had a single problem since. It does leap forward when foot removed from brake, but I don't know there is much that can be done about that. Keep foot on brake. We'll see.

7 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 06/18/2007

On three separate occasions, after stopping at a stop sign, my 2008 Passat has slid into neutral gear when accelerating. The display still indicates the car is in 'drive', but the engine races when the gas pedal is depressed, and the car does not move. After moving the gear shift to another gear, and then back to drive, the car will again go into drive gear.

8 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 06/12/2002

Car with an automatic transmission will not go into gear due to failure of the computerized control module. Dealership claim problem is due to rain and will not cover repair under the warranty. (powertrain warranty is 100,000 miles, and care only has 20,000 miles).

9 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2000 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 06/08/2002

While driving at 45mph vehicle decelerated to 5mph, like the brakes were being applied. Consumer pressed accelerator, however vehicle would not accelerate. Transmission will not shift gears. Drove vehicle at 15 mph. Vehicle decelerated at 5 mph, and mashing the accelerator to the floor did not increase the speed. Both happened in a duration of 5-7 mins. The vehicle then resumed at normal operation. Consumer had taken vehicle to the dealer, no problem was determined. Dealer claimed that the vw factory contact had no record of aberrant action and had no fix for the problem.

11 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 1997 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 11/17/1996

When the gear lever is put in the reverse gear gate the gearbox may be in either reverse or first gear. The driver does not know which gear the car is actually in until the clutch is released. Obviously, this makes parking a needlessly dangerous exercise.
